“We live in Iowa but drove to the Silvis location for my step father’s birthday and brought our toddler with us. The manager that was on duty was one of the kindest people I’ve ever encountered at a restaurant and the food came out fast and was delicious. I would gladly make this drive again just to have this same experience. Our daughter even ate almost two slices of pizza she loved it so much. Thank you for everything. We will be back soon.“

“I had never heard of Tony's until they opened the new location in Bettendorf. Talk about good food! I'm a huge fan of Chicago style pizza. I was sad when the Davenport Godfather's closed. And I hate driving all the way to Silvis to order a pizza and then eat it lukewarm after I finally get home. This hits the spot. And breakfast? You couldn't get that at a Godfather's. The wait staff are really friendly and helpful. Latisha was my server, and she was great. It was like she could read my mind when I needed her. The prices are reasonable, and the food is excellent. 5 stars!“

“I really like the product but not the store on 53rd in Davenport. Iowa. The manager assured me it would take 8-9 mins to make my order and he would bring it out to my car right outside their door. I was the only order being made at 1:12 pm. I went in at 12 mins and the manager said it would be another couple mins with no explanation and he promised to bring my order out to my car. At 22 mins I went back in and no one else had placed an order in all that time. The manager would not even come out to talk to me. He made a young man in the back come out and finally give me my order. No apology or explanation given. I will drive to another location next time.“

“So… I grew up on Happy Joe’s Pizza. As a kid I used to climb the stairs to the viewing window and watch the employees make the pies. Then I even worked for the company in my late teens and early twenties for 5 years. Loved that stuff. I eventually became one of the people that started early and made fresh dough every day. I never got tired of it! Fast forward to the 2010s-2020s and I became very disappointed with the quality of Happy Joe’s Pizza to the point that I wouldn’t buy it anymore. And yes it is expensive. The majority of the ingredients are the same as they were 30 years ago or more but the crust was like cardboard. Yuk! Every once in a while I think “what if they went back to freshly made dough every day? Then they could charge a lot because you know you are getting the quality again.” Well today I decided I was craving a Combo Pizza (formerly garden) from Happy Joe’s. I grabbed one on my way home at lunch. At the drive up window I asked the manager if they ever considered making dough from scratch again instead of frozen. She then told me something that blew my mind… they are making the dough from scratch again! Since restructuring things after recent world events (the disease that shall remain nameless) they started making dough daily again in Milan and it is shipped to Rock Island and a couple other stores. She said "it’s as close to the old recipe as they can get." On my drive home I scarfed down the pizza and was surprised to discover it was super good! I even ate the “pizza bones”! I looked down at the small pizza box… No survivors… So excited that Rock Island Happy Joe’s is back to kicking butt again! Next time: Taco Supreme…“

“Dough is unique, deliciously savory and always perfectly balanced with a hint of sweetness and has the perfect texture that, I think, is superior to any other similar ‘Quad-Cities style’ pizza places. The pizza is absolutely amazing, but the real treasures are their calzones. For me, it’s their eggplant calzone. Eggplant can be tricky, but they slice it very thinly, use an excellent breading, fry it to perfection and layer it with creamy ricotta & rich mozzarella wrapped in that amazing dough, though occasionally they’ll not use enough filling (so, I order extra eggplant & cheese, just to be safe.) When combined with their ‘calzone sauce’ (on the side, a perfect match, bold & rich, similar to an amazing marinara but their own take, and I think it’s necessary for the full experience), it is one of my favorite meals. I’ve had pizza & calzones in so many states and cities, so many styles and varieties, but I always end up craving Pizza & Subs above all others when I’m in the mood for that. Pro tip: add eggplant to some of their pizzas, such as their garden. Another nice thing, they actually still deliver themselves, not using some service, and they deliver surprisingly quickly most of the time, for a very reasonable fee, and the people are always kind and friendly. Unfortunately, they changed their hours in the past few years and close much earlier than most pizza places, which can often be frustrating. Sometimes they’ll close randomly due to staffing issues or things that come up beyond their control. And their website is literally years out of date, and always reminds me of how much they’ve raised their prices when I go to look at their menu... But, it’s a family run joint that makes amazing food, so accepting those things is necessary even if it means I don’t get food from them as often as I used to. Otherwise, I can’t recommend Pizza & Subs highly enough as something uniquely amazing that I hope remains open for generations to come. Just wish they were able to stay open later, and their prices went down. It’s worth the splurge sometimes, though, and their pizzas are quite loaded with toppings. 🤷‍♂️“

“Happy Joes is always a favorite of ours. We are from out of town and anytime we come to visit our family we have to stop and get a pizza. Well this last weekend we had our wedding in the quad cities. We wanted to have pizza brought in as a late night snack for guests that were still around. We originally reached out to the restaurant about 2 months prior to the wedding and started working with Steve. He was super responsive and flexible! They were even willing to deliver to our venue when it was close to the end of their work night and we are so incredibly grateful they did! The guests seemed to love it and even at the end of the night we had some left over and people were asking if they could have it because it was so good!
