“I've had mixed experiences here. The service tonight was great, but the wine menu is lacking. I'm not sure why ports are not listed under desert wines, and there are very limited options from New Zealand and absolutely no Petit Syrahs. The French, Portuguese, German, and Italians wines lists sometimes only have 1-2 options.“

“After a terrible dining experience at a nearby restaurant my friends and I decided to head somewhere else to get a drink and keep chatting. We randomly decided on Apero and I'm so glad we did! The drinks were delicious, the atmosphere mellow and comfortable, and the service was kind and attentive! The gentleman who took our order was funny and friendly, while the lady at the bar frequently checked on us and discretely got us some napkins when she noticed our conversation got a lil emotional ❤️ I'll definitely be coming back~“

“We had to wait for about an hour for a table but it was sooooo! worth it :) the Beaujolais that my friend got was phenomenal, I was jealous that I had opted for a martini.
We all got a burger which was 10/10, cooked perfectly and extremely flavorful. we shared the boccarones which I highly recommend and the gnocchi which was good but perhaps not paired well with something as heavy as a burger — thought the flavors might be a bit lighter/brighter.
all in all a wonderful experience, the staff was funny and attentive, the music was good, the vibes were up. looking forward to returning.“

“This was the best night out!! We went out with friends and shared multiple dishes (and so much wine.) The food was outstanding. The wine was so flavourful and we just kept ordering more. The Black Grape Crostini was probably the best I've ever had. Go here for a cozy and welcoming atmosphere with great food and team!!!!!“

“Dishes were creative and unique, had amazing flavor profiles. I absolutely love the lamb carpaccio, never had raw lamb before, it was cured well and paired with gooseberries that popped in the mouth and cut through the greasiness. Mussels were also mind blowing with the taste and creativity. Everything was fantastic until the blue prawns get in the way, they were still kinda raw I know that’s how some places do it but I felt uncomfortable eating raw shrimps, and desserts were subpar. However overall it’s amazing and definitely worth going back for new menu rotations“

“👍🏻👏🏻❤️We stopped by this very modern and welcoming restaurant to have a drink 🍷 and ended up going there for the second night in a row! What a pleasant surprise! Their drinks are fantastic! My Cosmopolitan was amazing! 2 night in a row we ordered Stake Frites (medium). Just outstanding!
Great service! Welcoming atmosphere.
Highly recommended! Just in a heart ❤️ of Chicago!Thank you, downtown!“

“Volo Wine Bar might be known for its wine, but even without ordering a glass, we had an incredible experience. The ambiance is warm and intimate, perfect for a relaxed night out. The outdoor patio looks like it would be a dream in the summer! We started with the French onion soup, which was rich, cheesy, and full of flavor—exactly what you want on a chilly night. For mains, we had the filet mignon, which was cooked to perfection, and the BMG flatbread, which had the perfect balance of crispy crust and flavorful toppings. Instead of wine, we opted for mocktails, and they did not disappoint! Super refreshing and well-crafted.“

“I love this place, they have the best pitas in the city. Hands down. They’ve gone through I think 3 chefs in recent years as our waiter was explaining. But we both had the steak Laffa sand which and fries. 10/10 from both of us. It’s a sandwich I could eat daily. Tbh I feel like they gave too many fries, but they’re still really good, and the mango curry sauce mayo thing they give is unique, punchy and bright. We thought it was a curry mustard but it’s actually a mayo (I think).
We also learned you can buy the pita in bulk which is a game changer.“

“Each time I come to Obelix I am so surprised. Via it's James' (wonderfully friendly, knowledgeable bartender) or Jamie (friendly, made great pairing recommendations) both have made each experience better than the last. I'll forever mourn the loss of the omelet, but highly recommend this spot for anyone passionate about wine or missing france.“

“Barrel has an amazing event space where we recently held our engagement party. The space is huge and was plenty of room for our 40-50 person party - I imagine the space could hold double that amount. It is a great atmosphere with dim lighting, great loud speakers, a full service bar in the back, and even a pool table! It needs minimal decorations since it already has a lot of character!
Ahmed, the owner was great to work with. He offered us a few packages, all very reasonably priced with the option to use their food and drink or bring in everything ourselves. There are no time limits on use of the space, so our party was able to linger even after most people had gone home and had a fun moment playing music, dancing and even doing a round of shots before calling it a night.
I would recommend this space to anyone looking for a no-fuss and high impact event space!“

“Sooooo cute. Lovely wine spot in a fun area of Lincoln Park. Go when it's warm out and sit by the windows or on the patio to people watch. This is the perfect spot to go before a fancier dinner nearby (pro tip: put in your name at Armitage Alehouse and wait here). There aren't a lot of food options-it's a wine bar- but what they do have is great.“

“I wanted to make my own cheese board but did not have time. I was looking for a local cheese shop in the neighborhood and stumbled upon WineStyles. I completely forgot to take a picture. However Emily and her staff are wonderful! We ordered a cheese board for a party, normally this isn’t something they do. We bought our own board from HomeGoods and brought it to her, came back the next day for pickup with a wonderful board. I think there were 3 different meats, and 4 different cheeses. Along with the crackers, jam and almonds. Everything on the board was super delicious and it was a hit at the party!! The whole thing was gone within 20 minutes haha. We had quite a few people ask where we purchased it. We definitely think Emily & team should look into offering this as a regular service or at least around the holidays, it would be super popular. I love the aesthetic at her place as well. We also purchased a few bottles of wine which we brought to party. Also a huge hit! As a local business owner myself, I am happy we found this place and happy to support. My husband and I will definitely be coming here to eat and drink soon. We were both pleased with the friendly service and the amazing cheese board! We absolutely recommend! Thank you!“
“Great new spot in Bucktown!! We are so excited to have this around the corner. Customer service is excellent. Cocktails are 10/10. Atmosphere feels unique and artistic while also feeling warm and welcoming. Looking forward to more stops here!“
“Sometimes, you pick one restaurant over a million other nearby options thanks to a tiny detail. For me, it was a picture of their mouthwatering mushrooms tartine. Well, tried and verified! The orange wine was excellent, and the entire wine list and menu looked great.I also gave a try to the desserts, but here I was a bit disappointed. The pistachio bread pudding was excellent, but the quantity was way too small. The ice cream served with it held its apricot promise, however it was more crème au beurre-like and more fatty/buttery rather than fresh and tangy like what I would have expected from an apricot.Looking forward to my next visit!“
“This place is permanently closed and it makes me so sad. We came in around Christmas time back in 2018 and sat at the bar. Our bartender was friendly and extremely knowledgeable of wines and poured us the best glasses of Riesling we have ever tasted. We also had olives with some sort of bread and cheese that I cannot remember the name of, but I do remember that it was excellent. Truly wish we could go here again.“

“First timers and now we will be regulars! The hospitality, atmosphere and fare were outstanding! From the knowledgeable staff, the welcoming management and the hostess that went WAY above and beyond to be sure my disabled husband was accommodated from when we booked our reservation to the end of our dining experience - we couldn’t have been more delighted! See you again soon, Lardon!“

“Could not be more impressed with the Bottle Shop, specifically owner Amy. My colleague lives in Wilmette, and I stumbled on Amy's shop online when I was looking for some place that was able to send him birthday beers. Not only is she super friendly and helpful, but she was incredibly knowledgeable about beer. Amy is a rockstar, her beer selection is awesome and I hope to one day be able to enjoy one in her shop!“

“Tried Bodega for the first time, and since I really like Tango Sur, I wanted to see the experience of the food and the atmosphere. The place was somewhat empty in what appeared to be a slow Sunday night. Had a drink that was not that good and a Quilmes beer, which at 8 dollars was a bit overpriced for me. The ambiance was definitely not as good as next door, and the food should have tasted just as good, but on this night, it just wasn't as succulent and flavorful. So, needless to say, I'll stick to Tango Sur.“

“Big selection of wine and rare bottles of spirits inside. I had no idea we had a gem like this in the area. They even have some good bottles of Japanese whiskey. Can't comment on the food but the sandwiches did look appetizing. According to their menu it's 1 dollar oysters Monday to Thursday all day until they run out. So I'm definitely going over during those days. The staff were kind and accommodating to my dog on the patio. Select glasses of wine can start around 10 dollars. There are some happy hour deals centered around drinks from glasses, wine flights, and sangria pitchers. As well as a taco Tuesday special.
Paid street parking, on the first floor so handicap accessible, excited to come back during dollar oysters.“

“This place is a must visit. My wife and I have been here twice and they don’t miss! Love the Chicago spin they put on a lot of their dishes. Each dish is well balanced and so flavorful and their cocktails are tasty too! Every team member we have interacted with is always knowledgeable and welcoming. There is no doubt this place will continue to get more popular and is easily one of my favorite restaurants in the city. Can’t wait to go back“

“GO TO SUDA’S!!! This was the best falafel and baklava I’ve ever had. Miriam, our server was so knowledgeable about the menu and so accommodating — multiple things were sent to us on the house and after we tried the Arak “milk of lions” and didn’t like it due to its strong liquors taste she was quick to taking it off of our bill and was very receptive of the feedback. You have to try the labneh spreads and beetroot mutabbal too! We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who is Suda‘s daughter and came to find out that every recipe on the menu is her mom‘s very own. You can taste the love in every bite. The only constructive feedback I have is I wish I came here sooner. 11/10 RECOMMEND SUDA’S!“

“Great atmosphere for dinner and the bone-in filet special they offered did not disappoint. The highlight for me was our waiter for the evening.
Mike was attentive and his experience/passion for the restaurant's wine offerings was evident. Recommended a fantastic Sangiovese; even provided a little background on the producer's history and the unique characteristics of the vintage.
Thanks again to Mike for a great experience. Details like that stick out and I'll be recommending Capital Grille to others because of it.“

“Nice spot for a quiet drink at the bar, plus they have a small but mighty menu. The birria eggrolls and pretzel crusted chicken definitely live up to the hype. If you're looking for a late night bite or a quiet place to catch a game, you found it.“

“Absolutely phenomenal, couldn’t speak highly enough of this. My wife had the main menu with the spirt free drinks while I had the vegetarian options with wine pairing and everything was great. Left after ~2.5ish hours absolutely stuffed with a great memory. Very innovative and creative food, warm inviting atmosphere in an intimate setting. Expensive, but worth it!“

“I came here for dinner and it was lovely! Our waiter was very friendly and informative about the menu. Sadly they were out of a few menu items but what we had was delicious! I enjoyed the pizza more than the pasta we ordered, and bright side they had vegetarían options!“

“Hands down some of the best food I've had in Chicago. The charcuterie was a sensation. I had the best chicken Parm I've ever had in my life. I was there before the pearl Jam show, i wish so much I recalled my servers name, a guy who served us for outside seating. He was a delight. He knew his menu, he had great suggestions and was so friendly and professional. Thank you for a wonderful experience!“

“Came in with a small group for dinner, all the food was good and came out quick. Highly recommend the cheese & charcuterie plate as a starter, brussels sprouts for the small plates, and gnocchi for the large plate category. The trout was good, however a heads up (which we didn’t know) that the fjord trout dish is not a white fish and was very similar to salmon.
The service was good but nothing special. The dining room is small with a few additional tables outside (I came in the winter so outdoor dining was not open). In my opinion, because there are boxes stacked around the cabinets and dining room ended up feeling slightly more cramped than cozy/intimate.“

“We’ve been to Buona Terra several times and our experiences have been great. So it made sense to host a party there. We hosted my 60th birthday party at Buona Terra in late April 2024. What made Buona Terra so appealing to us was we could have the entire restaurant to ourselves and the food, of course!Planning the party was so easy with the help of the owner, Eileen. Eileen was helpful and accommodating and walked us through every step from the menu, bar options and different seating options. She emailed sample bar packages and sample lunch and dinner packages. She also said we could create our own menu which was exciting for us. We decided on Caesar Salad, Pasta di la Nona, Chicken Piccata and Tiramisu. When we arrived for the party Eileen had the room set up perfectly for our party of 35. And the weather was so nice she opened the front patio windows. Everyone had a great time! The food was delicious and the staff friendly. Our family and friends all remarked how great everything was and that they’ll all be back, including the Italians;)“

“I called ahead on a Tuesday for their dinner reservations, we were told they weren't busy that night so we went ahead and made the one hour drive just for their sushi and their great reviews. We had the best experience and their sushi was truly top notch. We basically ordered everything on the menu from sushi, caviar to desserts and drinks. they did not disappoint, customer service was superb. The owner even came outside to attend us, he showed up with his own bottle of sake. I truly appreciate the great experience we had at this beautiful and clean restaurant. I have nothing bad to say, the food was high quality and extremely delicious. I definitely recommend this location, even if you have kids which I did. We left so happy and satisfied, loved it.“

“In a town known for great steak restaurants, EJs, is my favorite. Their steaks and seafood are outstanding, their sides and desserts wonderful, and their wine list never disappoints. Throw in a cozy atmosphere with wood paneling and the smell of the fireplace. The best part is the service. From the moment you arrive until you get back in your vehicle their service is unmatched with a staff of professionals who have been there for years. I highly recommend EJs and look forward to our next visit!“
