“Drove about 50 miles to try this spot out and it was definitely worth the trip! Everything we tried was fresh and delicious! My favorites were the wontons with chili oil and the pork bao buns. 😊“

“Well I had my usual Chinese craving that always comes at least once a month. It had been a couple days before I could finally get the time to go get some Chinese. Luckily, for me when this time came I was door dashing in U-City, because I came across this hidden gem. The restaurant itself looks very deceiving, but I had read the reviews so I knew better. I ordered the dinner special broccoli chicken and was surprised that I could add Lo Mein instead of the traditional rice as a side. It was $3 more but well worth it. It also came with a spring roll which was the only thing that I wasn't impressed with. The whole meal cost just under $14 which was well worth it. I also will say this, I ordered carry out and walked quite away back to my car. When I did get back to my car, and went to eat my food, it was so hot that if I hadn't tested it first, it would have given me 3rd degree burns in my mouth. No joke! I have no idea how they had gotten my food so hot, but it was by far the hottest food I've ever experienced and it took quite awhile for it to cool down enough to even begin to eat it. With all this said, this by far was the best Chinese food I've ever eaten! And I've eaten at a lot of different Chinese restaurants. I believe the gravy the food was prepared in was what made the difference and off the chain delicious. I would highly recommend eating here often and yes as soon as I'm anywhere near U-City I'll be stopping in to get more food from here. 5 stars all day long!“

“I just moved nearby and was looking for a new Chinese food spot. St. Louis is hit and miss on Chinese food, with mostly a lot of misses. I was super happy that the food was terrific at New China! I had the Kung Pao chicken lunch special. Came with fried rice and an egg roll. It was the best I've had in the area. The crab rangoon and fried dumplings were on point. 10/10, I'll be back!“

“Tiny spring rolls, with thin paper!STILL GOT THE FREE VESS @ the hood chinamen. Popular in the neighborhood. Quick service. No call-in orders, no waiting area, no heat. *update what did I find in Family Dollar down the street? Do you see it.“

“All the best food spots in STL are in questionable locations! ?? I grew up eating Ho's, so I'm definitely biased, but it's definitely a great spot for Asian food! The staff is sassy, but for good reason. They have to deal with the characters in my old neighborhood. Great food here if you are in the area!“

“The food was great. Order prepared quickly each time I've visited. Been back about 4 times in a single week. Pricing is a bit higher than other suitable Chinese restaurants but Food has Great and my orders were exactly what I asked for and expected.
I highly recommend.
How ever, there is no guarantee to get a call in order answered.“

“Facebook is asking me "What do you recommend about China Garden on Gravois?" Well, I could - and truthfully should, write a whole essay on this subject. However I will not do so since I will instead be enjoying everything about my repeated excellent experiences at China Garden on Gravois. I will leave you with this note - China Garden on Gravois is stupendous and makes all other Chinese take outs look like imitators.“

“Tonight our pickup order was about 20 min late. Apparently there was a new cook doing the dumplings. We just want the new cook to know that you may have had a tough night, but your dumplings were excellent. Thanks!“

“Food is pretty good. My go to dishes are veg egg foo young, s&s chicken, potstickers. Efy not bad but their gravy needs work. Also, if you get veg fried rice or something you have to also ask for egg in it, & you get charged for EVERY LITTLE THING. They charged me pork efy, minus pork, no minus charge, then charged for veggies. Same w/ the rice. They did similar thing on the lomain we ordered. Crazy. The food is good, s&s chicken definitely tasty. I'd go back.“

“Best St. Paul sandwich I've found so far. Sometimes a little salty, but still the best I've had. I've tried other food from here, but mainly come for the St. Paul. You can call in a pickup order, which seems to be what most people do. Or you can come wait while your order is being prepared. They have a dining room but rarely have I seen anyone eating there... the wait is usually something like 15 minutes. You ring a bell through the plastic partitioned ordering window when you arrive and someone will come out of the kitchen (if no one is already there) to take your order. This place isn't fancy by any means, and the tables seem like they could use a cleaning. Of note are the plants up front which are seemingly ancient. Lastly, not the St. Paul, but I went in late on a rainy night and had the best egg drop soup I've ever had. It may be because I was the only customer at the time, but I will definitely be back to try for that experience again.
Wheelchair accessibility: A step or two up into restaurant, so probably not wheelchair accessible.“

“I recently dined at Lams Garden and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. The rice at this restaurant is truly the best in the Granite City area. It was perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. The service was impeccable and the ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and inviting. I highly recommend Lams Garden to anyone looking for delicious Chinese cuisine. 5 stars all the way!“

“In the majority of these restaurant/Chinese....what's to be expected but you either call your order in before you go, or order when you get there. The services are not like a real restaurant...hell you can even go to the restrooms in the majority of them. The food is cooked to order and usually be reasonably-priced and good. I can't say even say if they are rude...I have never been treated rude here, your service is simple "How can I help you "give you a total, you pay. You either get a number or they call out what your order number, you get your bag, check it and go. The majority of the places you stand and wait on your food and go. I can say...in the City for me the food is better....at the majority of the all Chinese restaurants. Everyone has their favorite one to go too...but by far the City's restaurants are better.“

“They have good food I like the fact that they don't put egg in their food by me being a vegetarian I get plain fried rice or vegetable fried rice I really appreciate that they don't use egg that's the biggest thing about me going to other places so with that being said I stick with King chop suey and not only that they are very nice.“

“South St. Louis' best Chinese Food. It's take out only, which is fine by me. If you ask anyone on the Southside who has the best Chinese, this is the place they'll refer you to. Everything is freshly made. And is so good. Best shrimp fried rice ever!!“

“I ordered Harold's Chinese food yesterday and was well pleased! Everything was delicious. I ordered the hot braised chicken platter with shrimp fried rice, and crab ragoon. The crab ragoon was sweet, but not too sweet and had a nice balance. I also ordered vegetable egg rolls which were very tasty and crispy. I was very pleased and will definitely eat there again!“

“Best Chinese food in Saint Louis. Best St. Pauls, rice, Rangoons, and eggrolls. Call ahead of time, it won't take that long. When you driving by, don't blink or you'll miss it. Parking "lot" is super small, just get in when you can. And it's one of the last places that still give you a free drink when you spend over $10!! Only thing is the hot wings. They're dry, no sauce. Not my thing, but the wings were still cool.“

“This is the place to go for Chinese food in STL. Delicious food, polite A+ customer service, clean place, and an eccentric menu with many options. A word of advice though. NEVER tell the cooks that they didn’t make the General TSOs spicy enough. They’ll put some spice in it next time That’ll make you forget your name and where you live.“

“No dine in option is available only take out. The hot braised chicken boneless was well seasoned and plenty of sauce noted. I asked for rice without white onion and it was still white onion in the rice. The crab ragoon the way that it was wrapped was the lazy way. It was just folded in half like a triangle. It was good though and and you saw the imitiation crab meat in it.
Dietary restrictions: They do have vegetarian options“

“Excellent Chinese cuisine! I'm very particular in the taste of Chinese food, so I'm always weary of trying new places. I tried Yang a few years ago, and have yet to eat Chinese food anywhere else. The two owners do a marvelous job at meeting demand of customers. Highly recommend?“

“The food here is great, I cannot deny that. However, one great improvement that needs to be met is professional communication with customers. I have seen staff deflect, and argue with customers when they share their grievance. That is very unprofessional. Please learn how to respect the community that patronize your business daily!!! When customers share their grievances, please learn how to listen and find a way to accommodate their need.“

“Large portion of combination plate. Ordered to-go general two’s chicken. Large crispy chicken pieces, broccoli, good sauce but not spicy (ordered regular, it said spicy). White rice is basic good white rice, not jasmine. Crab ragoon only sweet cream cheese filling, placed in same container as food, causes them to get softer. Still tastes very good. Great price for portion of food! Placed order online. Easy.
Parking: Drive thru window on side for take out orders. Small inside no seating, take out is best.“

“Definitely a whole in the wall dive joint with no place for inside dining. Take cash because they don’t accept credit cards. This was the best place I have had for Chinese food. I got a St. Paul sandwich with Chicken Wings and Veggie Fried Rice. This place hits different from any other Chinese restaurants. Everything is seasoned well with lots of flavor.I will definitely return when I come back to visit St. Louis!“

“They are one of my favorite Chinese restaurants i ordered the General Tso's Chicken, Chicken lo mein, plain fried rice and fried wantons. As always, we had leftovers for days. They have the dark fried rice that is seasoned perfectly. They just might make the best wantons that I've had and the egg rolls are HUGE. The inside is clean with a couple of tables, so I guess you could dine-in, but I've never seen anyone do so.
Dietary restrictions: They will prepare each dish as you wish if they are able.
Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible by wheelchair.“

“To be honest I moved away about 15 years ago and one off first foods that I wanted as foodie was some chop suey. To come bravo Abe you guess made my taste buds melt thank you so much! The food was great! The prices are amazing! Man I dream about your food. Thank you for still being open!“

“Great STL Chinese food. One of my favorite places.
Vegetarian options: This is your typical Chinese restaurant where you can modify what you want in your order. You can get vegetable fried rice. You can specify what vegetables you want in there and what you don't. You can get vegetable curry, you just tell them you don't want any meat in your curry. I would just note that it's probably cooked on the same thing that the meat is cooked on, so if that is a problem I would suggest you go somewhere else.“

“Special Lo Mein to any fried rice, Duck and noodle and St.Paul sandwiches I've all tried and loved it. But the crab racoon and egg rolls always keeps me coming back. I've tried many chinese restaurants and nothing else compares. People from out of town love stl "chinamen" and they all go here. I've been going here since I was a kid and I'm 22 now. I will go until the doors cloSe. Henry will hook it up“

“~ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! Hadn't been in a few years, was in the area, and the Fish/Rice Combination Plate called my name. STILL THE BOMB. Kinda Pricey, but always good. STAY PACKED. I travelled nearly 40 miles just for this dish. Now the atmosphere...that's another story. Unless you are from here or familiar with the area, it may seem a little bit shady~“

“i grew up in that neighborhood and was practically raised on John's cuisine. it was typical for the owner/cashier to act rudely, though promptly, from behind the plexiglass. nobody questioned that expedient because the neighborhood was extremely rough. i'm talking ppl getting shot inside the little waiting/dining area. it seemed at the time that if John had been polite, ppl would hang out inside or in front to control the traffic in what was and still is a hotspot for gang clashes and drug dealing and robberies. every street over there, floy, mimika, era, etc, hosted rival gangs. and though most on one side of w. florissant purported to be Six-0 Crips (blue and yellow), the other side where John's restaurant was had every other type of gang and gang color, including those insufferable ones wearing blue and orange. a lot of ppl have been taken out right there on the premises over the years. as far as the food: it's standard STL chop suey, which stands out in the USA for some reason as tastier than chop sueys in other towns - and i've sampled them in 20 cities, with Philly coming in a close second and Chicago registering as third in that top tier. Los Angeles and NYC might as well shut down their operations. something is missing or otherwise went wrong.“

“I’m from STL but moved to Nashville. Everytime I come home I GOTTA go to China moon. The crab Rangoon never fails, sweet, hot, and abundant. The rice is really good too. I’m mainly a St. Paul person so that’s what I usually get and absolutely love it! And I got more of my family switching to them as well!“

“This is a great little hole in the wall but amazing Chinese restaurant! I stumbled upon it while having a craving for Hot & Sour soup. The location is easy to get to off Lindbergh. I was amazing how many locals were inside ordering food and taking it to go. It seems to be mostly a to go spot. I was given some recommendations right there from some of their most loyal customers. Hands down their general tso chicken was indeed great. And the soup I craved didn’t disappoint! I’ll be back.“

“Ive passed this place sooooo many years..heart of the hood. finally tried it..Had a plain st Paul. It was tasty. Got a half order of plain fried rice..good.. got a side of gravy that was meh.. it was more like teriyaki sauce..it was about 815 and they close at 9p. Next time I will go early in the day when its a bit fresher.. also.. the half order box is the size of a whole order and the whole order box is way bigger than the norm.“
