“I'm convinced Lam's Garden has the best Chinese food in the midwest. Let me paint you a picture: You drive up, it looks rundown, and you just know this is going to be the best Chinese food of your life. The fried rice is never a mildly flavored mush, like it can be in so many other places. It's rice and green onions and egg and protein and a lot of flavor. The crab rangoon is some of the best I've ever had. The wontons are fresh, never too chewy, and the cream cheese has a hint of sweetness, but it much more savory than a lot of places. Overly sweet crab rangoon is the worst. Every time I've eaten at Lam's Garden, the food has been consistently incredible. I highly, highly recommend trying it.“

“Some of the best food I’ve had comparable to ESTL. I will be gate keeping. Absolutely Fire St. Paul’s and Fried Rice. Seasoned to perfection. They understand the assignment. Will forever be my new favorite. I finally found what I’ve been looking for.“

“This spot is quite possibly the best Chinese restaurant in St Louis. I’ve ordered 4 different times, different dishes, and the food is always amazing.
They get very busy on the weekends. On Sundays, if the wait time isn’t 10-15 minutes, add 10-15 minutes to whatever they tell you it is. If they say 30-45 minutes, it’s more like 45-60 minutes.
Amazing spot, they’ll always have my business, but they gotta get better at giving customers accurate wait times.“

“I really enjoyed my visit and felt like the food was exactly what I was in the mood for. The flavors were spot on and brought back some great memories of classic comfort dishes done right. The service was friendly, and the staff seemed genuinely happy to help with recommendations. It’s a nice, low-key spot that hits the spot when you want a reliable and tasty meal.“

“Facebook is asking me "What do you recommend about China Garden on Gravois?" Well, I could - and truthfully should, write a whole essay on this subject. However I will not do so since I will instead be enjoying everything about my repeated excellent experiences at China Garden on Gravois. I will leave you with this note - China Garden on Gravois is stupendous and makes all other Chinese take outs look like imitators.“

“Food here was great. The Parathas are very good and the Chicken Tikka Masala was great too. The staff is helpful and kind. Would recommend people to try it out. Although I’m on vacation I would definitely come back here if I’m in Missouri“

“Food is fabulous... Parking is a bit questionable. Street parking or get stuck in the parking lot. This place has been at the corner of Goodfellow and Nat Bridge for years and years... And is always busy!! Arguably one of the best places to get Chinese food!!“

“Best St. Paul sandwich I've found so far. Sometimes a little salty, but still the best I've had. I've tried other food from here, but mainly come for the St. Paul. You can call in a pickup order, which seems to be what most people do. Or you can come wait while your order is being prepared. They have a dining room but rarely have I seen anyone eating there... the wait is usually something like 15 minutes. You ring a bell through the plastic partitioned ordering window when you arrive and someone will come out of the kitchen (if no one is already there) to take your order. This place isn't fancy by any means, and the tables seem like they could use a cleaning. Of note are the plants up front which are seemingly ancient. Lastly, not the St. Paul, but I went in late on a rainy night and had the best egg drop soup I've ever had. It may be because I was the only customer at the time, but I will definitely be back to try for that experience again.
Wheelchair accessibility: A step or two up into restaurant, so probably not wheelchair accessible.“

“First time having this food and it was phenomenal.Everythingwas on point. I had the fried chicken wings great flavor, crabragoon was just the way i like it, and a half order of ham fried rice was cooked to perfection and the color on it was beautiful. I had never seen any rice like. It doesn’t need any soy sauce. Everything was perfect the way it was and was piping hot just the way i like it. I pray that this place is consistent in their preparations, food quality, and attention to detail. I live in Illinois and this is well worth the drive. If i had pictures I would post them but I ate my food too fast.
Overall, i spent about $17 and some change.“

“Northside STL staple slingin’ classic Chinese takeout! Happy Box delivers that Gateway comfort punch, crab rangoon droppin’ sweet heat (crunch dialed up next round).$10+ holds strong; wings/fries combo ($11) callin’ my name—Grand Ave ready to wow. Neighborhood anchor, chop suey swagger. ★★★★☆“

“Ok im not from St Louis but I really wanted to try rethink place because Mr Chimetime reviewed it and said it was good and guess what it was. The fried rice was a 10 outta 10 the St Paul needed more seasoning. The place looks a little sketchy but it was worth it. A lot of people were ordering the duck im try that next time.“

“This restaurant appears to have been a drive in at some point so pulling into the parking lot is kind of cool. Once you get out of your car, you go inside and order your food. They were doing a brisk carry out business, obviously they were very well known in the neighborhood. We chose to eat in one of the booths. Yes, it wouldn't hurt if someone did a bit of cleaning around the windows, but we weren't too put off and really enjoyed our meals. Would return.“

“The food here was really good. Would say excellent... but they forgot my fish plate. When I went back to get it ... it was ok ... but not what I was expecting. The atmosphere is horrible. You will have to fight through tweaker to get your food as they are posted up in the resteraunt, outside the door ... and they will walk up to your car.“

“This is a hole in the wall Chinese place. It is an old gas station. The waiting area is a very uninviting, and somewhat prison like atmosphere. Honestly, some of the patrons are threatening and sketchy. I am not a fan of the neighborhood, but it is close to the VA, Powell Hall, and the Fox theater.
I got the special fried rice half order“

“No dine in option is available only take out. The hot braised chicken boneless was well seasoned and plenty of sauce noted. I asked for rice without white onion and it was still white onion in the rice. The crab ragoon the way that it was wrapped was the lazy way. It was just folded in half like a triangle. It was good though and and you saw the imitiation crab meat in it.
Dietary restrictions: They do have vegetarian options“

“I have been to many Chinese food places in STL. I have to say they are on of the best. They are across the street from the old schnucks on grand. Love their rice. Their st Paul's are on point.their prices are on par with other places. They don't take long to get orders out. Now that I'm talking about it, I might go there again today....“

“My family has been coming here since before I can remember. The food is always excellent and has been very consistent for decades! I live out of state now, but I have to come back to get a St. Paul, the special fried rice, and egg foo young every time I'm home! Will always come back and recommend to others!“
“I've been eating here for years. It's a bit out of the way for me, but if I'm in the area I stop by. It's some of the best food I've ever had in this entire city, and I've lived here my whole life. The staff is very friendly and efficient, the atmosphere is comfy and welcoming and typically just what youre looking for. The prices are great too, I was eating here as a broke freshman in highschool and I'm still eating here as a broke senior that's graduating. I love this place, 10/10 always worth your time and money, check it out!!“

“foods good, good portions and hot fresh food everytime I order. My only con is you can’t get a crab Rangoon instead of a egg roll when ordering meals on door dash or Uber Eats, you have to order a lot of them instead of just being able to get 1 or 2“

“Great fried rice! Parking is a tough situation and there is not a lot of room for waiting inside. However, all of our order was hot, fresh, and delicious. The pork fried rice was packed with sliced pork and some onion. The pork saint Paul was just delicious. It has a great bite, it was packed with veggies, and had a great flavor and was accompanied on the white bread with lettuce and pickles. The crab Rangoon was crisp, the filling was rather sweet for my liking but tasted great, creamy and smooth against the crisp outer shell of the wonton. The orange chicken was good. The bites of chicken were cooked just right and the sweet sauce was just enough. Overall good food.“

“The food here is great, I cannot deny that. However, one great improvement that needs to be met is professional communication with customers. I have seen staff deflect, and argue with customers when they share their grievance. That is very unprofessional. Please learn how to respect the community that patronize your business daily!!! When customers share their grievances, please learn how to listen and find a way to accommodate their need.“
