“I’ve eaten at Bleuroot twice when traveling through Chicago for hockey trips. Every bite has been phenomenal and there have been many “Oh you’ve got to try this” shared plates. The staff are amazing and this is a place where it’s okay to be loud and boisterous and joyful. “We went to Woodfire for the first time a few weeks back on a Thursday night to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Full house!! We had the best appetizers, main dishes (pasta & pizza), drinks and the donuts as a treat from our amazingly friendly server was a fabulous ending to a great night! We had an issue at this location last night and I informed the manager simply so she was aware. By the way our server was excellent, so this was not a service or even a food issue. Hey things happen in a public setting and management doesn’t always have full control of that. But when I met Marisela she really wanted to make things right for our table and went above and beyond to fix our situation. We appreciated that SO much. Thank you Olive Garden management and particularly to the manager of this location. You really helped regular customers stay loyal.“

“Tonight I decided to venture out and try this restaurant my family has been RAVING about called Al’s Cafe in Downtown Elgin! I sat upstairs and had this lovely server named Marcie! She recommended the monthly special called “Moonstruck” and it was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! The ambience, service and food is unmatched! If you are looking for a great night out I highly recommend Al’s Cafe!“

“I haven't been to Alexander's in years and my last experience wasn't a good one. The food wasn't great and the service was terrible. This time was a complete 180° experience! The place has been renovated and looks very nice and very clean (including the very nice restroom). The food and service were, both, wonderful with nice selections on the menu. We went on a weekend, so they had a piano player who was very good. Even the prices weren't the usual "painful" experience of most restaurants. We will, definitely, return. I went because I was told they had improved, considerably, from what I remembered. They have!“

They are still in the real old Kooker's building with the same old tile floor that Kooker's restaurant had when I was in high school. It is over 20 years later now. I have been willing to go back to Happy Burger to get meals. The people at the front desk are nice. I do admit, though, sometimes I end up getting a burger for $3 at fast food drive-throughs. Happy Burger (HB) burger tastes more like a fresh made juicy burger when compared to the McDonald's on the other side of the street. HB fries are not bad but could be better because when the HB fries come up and go into a bag, I have found they were a bit wet.Wet fries is a common imperfection with Chicago-style grills.“
