While the food was delicious and the overall ambiance and decor of the restaurant was cozy, it was our server that made this dining experience over the top, great! HECTOR, you are a gem, a diamond! You have an absolutely charming personality and made my mother in law’s birthday dinner an experience to remember! “We dined at Hillgrove Tap for a Moms day out event today. They were fantastic handling our group. Service was excellent. Food was fantastic. And they were so organized. “Came here on a Sunday evening and the food plus the service was amazing. A+. The owner recommended i try the Dubai style paratha smash and it did not disappoint. We also had the mushroom Swiss and jalepeno smash those were amazing as well. It’s a 50 minute drive for me to get here and I can’t wait to go back.“

“Their chicken Philly needs a lot of work. They overwhelmed it with onions and cheese but not enough meat. Ratio needs correction. Also the fries were undercooked and extremely soggy. Their menu is on the pricier side. As for their service and atmosphere, it was overall solid. I will be back here.“

I remember going here as a little girl with my grandma, my parents, and now as an adult, and it’s never diminished in quality or decreased in quaint coziness. The service is attentive, genuinely friendly, and assuringly knowledgeable. The atmosphere is that of an old world supper club from the past. The menu has plentiful options without being overwhelming. We plan to come back and bring guests, and have added this to our list of “Hidden Gems for Out of Town Visitors.”“

“Really nice place for real good food. My family and I stopped in after a trip into town for an escape room. We had the foghorn chicken sandwich, burger, mashed pot and gravy, tenders, nuggets, and fries. The burger and mashed we're recommended by staff and were terrific.
Everything was delicious, hot, and fresh. Recommend if you're looking for awesome food at a great price too.“

“This is hands down our favorite restaurant. We eat here at least twice a week, and the consistency is one of the main reasons we keep coming back. The service is warm, efficient, and always welcoming. The chicken skewers are outstanding. Perfectly seasoned, tender, and cooked just right every time. They are flavorful without being heavy, and you can tell the ingredients are fresh. The Greek salad is equally impressive. Crisp vegetables, generous feta, balanced dressing, and always fresh. It is simple, but done exceptionally well. When a restaurant can deliver this level of quality consistently multiple times a week, that says everything. We highly recommend it.“

“This used to be our absolute favorite spot. My friends and I would come here several times a week, and we loved the familiar faces on the staff. Sadly, things have drastically changed for the worse. ​We noticed the staff began turning over constantly, and after speaking with some of the remaining employees, we found out why: the owner is reportedly keeping 40% of the servers' tips. Under Illinois law, tips belong entirely to the staff, and an owner taking a cut is entirely illegal. ​It breaks our heart to walk away from a place we loved, but our group has decided to take our business to other local spots that actually respect and support their employees. We won't be back until management corrects this and treats their staff fairly.“

“I tried to order and the girl didn't understand English nor Spanish. She wanted to take the order but because of language barrier she got someone else. Guy was nice and recommended a pomegranate something cause I didn't like. Be careful the were charging me $1.49 fir sauces without telling me. He made it sound like they came free with chicken wings. I also asked him if onion rings were beer battered or breaded? He had no clue what that meant. Btw they are breaded and pretty good. They had good fries too. My daughter got a burger I think she liked. They have a cool machine to take a picture but its broken in back. I wanted the $20 wings but dude rang me fir two 10 pieces at $24. I corrected him in the end overcharging me $4. With experience of ringing my food not the best. Btw buffalo wings way better than the plain wings. Plain wings were looking disgusting and was super flavorless and bit cooked all the way. I went home a put in airfryer.“

I am giving my order over the phone and he rushes me because he has someone coming in his restaurant. Next , I ask him couple of questions which he shows so much attitude. Third , I hate dining in this place . The guy keeps checking to see if we didn’t make the tables or floor messy. No kind of professionalism. We do not eat free . A burger joint in a strip mall doesn’t inspire confidence, but you walk into this cozy place, with attractive wall murals, and somehow you get the feeling that you’re in the right place. We were in a rush, so came here for a quick lunch - ordered the following: double cheeseburgers, peri peri burgers, veggie samosa burger (off menu) and mango habañero wings….and EVERYTHING was fantastic!!! The double cheeseburgers were juicy, and succulent, the peri peri grilled chicken burger was tender and saucy, the wings were absolutely delicious, crisp despite the mango habañeeo sauce which had the perfect level of sweet heat. Lastly, the veggie burger - so the menu has FANTASTIC samosas, so when we asked if they had a veggie burger, they told us they can prepare a delicious burger using their veggie samosa. Imagine our skepticism, and then our utter shock, when it turned out to be the most delicious spicy, saucy samosa burger we have ever sunk our teeth in! Overall, an excellent experience, but with all the personnel exuding immense warmth and gracious hospitality. Definitely coming here OVER and OVER again!!! Yum!“

“Astonishing that it's still around. I was 10 when it opened in 1948 and to get a double decker at HH was close to heaven. Across the street was Prince Castle, long gone, where you could get a slider for much less money. HH was a splurge and it's wonderful to see it live today.“
