“I've seen this place for years, and never seen them busy. When I came in I had to wait to get service as there was only one person working (Saturday evening.) But I was not in any hurry, as I was looking for some good barbeque at a reasonable price. I was NOT disappointed!! The flavor was awesome, the ribs were fantastic, I even enjoyed the fries and the baked beans!
It is an older building and not extremely easy to find. They don't have the staff to serve lots of people, but the food is definitely worth eating if you love Barbeque!!
If you are in a hurry, you will not want to come here.
If you are looking for a fancy place to eat, you should take it home.

“The moist brisket was good and so were the fries. My partner liked her cheeseburger with mac and cheese. Good selection of bbq sauces also. The brisket is not the largest portion size however so if you are really hungry order an extra side to accommodate for that.“

“My friend and I stopped in at Firewater BBQ in Elmhurst on Thursday Dec. 1st for the "Granny's Lunch Box Special" which is available daily from 11AM-2PM. This was my second visit and my friend's first at Firewater. We both ordered the Angus beef brisket sandwich with a side of 3 cheese Mac & Cheese and a soda. The brisket (smoked for 22 hrs) is amazingly tender and flavorful. It was piled high on a toasted brioche bun and is served with your choice of sweet or spicy BBQ sauce or both if you like. The Mac & Cheese is sooo silky-smooth and creamy and compliments the brisket quite well. There are complimentary pickled jalapeños and sweet & spicy pickles available as well. My friend was so impressed by this amazing brisket that he placed another exact order to go to bring home. The cashier who also took our order was very friendly and polite. We told one of the chefs, Shawn, (pictured) that we really enjoyed the brisket and complimented his skills. My friend and I will both be returning to Firewater BBQ and we'll definitely be letting our family and friends know about this wonderful BBQ spot.“

I been seeing this place for a while now and my best friend also told me the pizza was decent.

We came 30 min before closing and they had only three slices left ready to eat.

“The menu is extensive, food is freshly made and delicious and the soups are better than any restaurant soup I have ever had.... I have to admit, I am "addicted" to the soups, primarily the Baked Potato Soup. I could eat that every day. I am what one would call "a regular" thru the drive thru for most often, the soup, however, the salads and variety that they offer are plentiful and again, delicious.... “I was recommended this place by my coworkers and this is honestly the best chicken I’ve ever had at a restaurant in many many many years. Food is cheap, atmosphere is friendly, owner is super nice, they even have a selection of mild to spicy sauces that’s huge and some of them they even made themselves. That Yummi sauce sure is Yummy. Give this place a shot you won’t be disappointed.“

“They had a great Bison Burger asked for it medium and got it well done. But it was good either way so I'll still give an overall 5 stars. Where this place really shines is the overall atmosphere of the place. That and our waitress was very polite and attentive to our needs. As for the food we got some about noon. And they were still on the ball when it came to service. It only took maybe 15 minutes to get it on the table. Can't ask for anything better than that. Will definitely be back when I'm in the area.

“Ate there last night. The food was incredible and the service was outstanding. I’m pretty picky about vodka pasta and this one was the best I’ve ever had. The restaurant has such a fun modern 1920s vibe. They also have a kids menu so it’s great for date night or a family outing.“

“Not only have I loved Hawthornes from when I was a kid growing up in West Chicago! It was the PERFECT place to have my wedding. Lou, Heidi and Kelly did fantastic and helped make my dream come alive! Every question I had they answered and were able to accommodate so much! Heidi was in CONSTANT communication with me and was able to give advice and help me through the whole process. Her suggestions were so helpful and she helped during the ceremony and reception. I could not have done it without them. This place treats you like family and has amazing service! When my husband and I went to pick up our things the next morning we were planning on taking 2 trips and Lou let us borrow his truck that is how amazing and friendly they are! WE LOVE YOU HAWTHORNES! “My first visit to Char Kabobs was excellent! I wasn’t sure what to order because I’m not (yet!) super familiar with the cuisine. The chef? recommended the Chicken Boti wrap and it was delicious! I’d asked for it spicy and it had the perfect amount of heat for me. Freshly prepared, flavorful tender chicken, lots of onions, just the right amount of lettuce and delicious sauce all wrapped up in fresh flat bread. I will definitely be back to try more items! “Mr. Jesus attended us, super attentive, the empanadas were very good, the ones with mechadas have a lot of meat. I recommend them when I return to Illinois, I would go to this place without thinking twice.

Parking: It is broad“

“We ordered hot dogs n fries w an extra pickle and a gyros plate. Service at the counter was on point and he was very friendly. Food was decent and fries were fresh. Gyros was really good plenty of sauce. Dining room stocked w napkins ketchup etc and was very clean. Our table n chairs did wobble but I wasn't annoyed
