“I've seen this place for years, and never seen them busy. When I came in I had to wait to get service as there was only one person working (Saturday evening.) But I was not in any hurry, as I was looking for some good barbeque at a reasonable price. I was NOT disappointed!! The flavor was awesome, the ribs were fantastic, I even enjoyed the fries and the baked beans!
It is an older building and not extremely easy to find. They don't have the staff to serve lots of people, but the food is definitely worth eating if you love Barbeque!!
If you are in a hurry, you will not want to come here.
If you are looking for a fancy place to eat, you should take it home.

“I was there for the 9/11 memorial and these guys know how to do it right. The food is always good and I highly recommend getting the Brisket (wet), with green beans or collard greens or both. This is my favorite meal - but like I said, you can't go wrong with anything that you order. The staff is always friendly and the pictures all over the wall represent Warriors and Heros of the community as well as the Gold Star Heros. This more than a place to eat - it is an experience that, if you take the time and allow it, will move you. If you don't know what I mean, just visit and spend some time there.

“My friend and I stopped in at Firewater BBQ in Elmhurst on Thursday Dec. 1st for the "Granny's Lunch Box Special" which is available daily from 11AM-2PM. This was my second visit and my friend's first at Firewater. We both ordered the Angus beef brisket sandwich with a side of 3 cheese Mac & Cheese and a soda. The brisket (smoked for 22 hrs) is amazingly tender and flavorful. It was piled high on a toasted brioche bun and is served with your choice of sweet or spicy BBQ sauce or both if you like. The Mac & Cheese is sooo silky-smooth and creamy and compliments the brisket quite well. There are complimentary pickled jalapeños and sweet & spicy pickles available as well. My friend was so impressed by this amazing brisket that he placed another exact order to go to bring home. The cashier who also took our order was very friendly and polite. We told one of the chefs, Shawn, (pictured) that we really enjoyed the brisket and complimented his skills. My friend and I will both be returning to Firewater BBQ and we'll definitely be letting our family and friends know about this wonderful BBQ spot.“

“We have catered holiday meals from various different restaurants and they all have been good- but yesterday’s Thanksgiving turkey was the best we have ever had. “The menu is extensive, food is freshly made and delicious and the soups are better than any restaurant soup I have ever had.... I have to admit, I am "addicted" to the soups, primarily the Baked Potato Soup. I could eat that every day. I am what one would call "a regular" thru the drive thru for most often, the soup, however, the salads and variety that they offer are plentiful and again, delicious.... I Checked out the new wings offered at Slyce.

I ordered the mango habanero (6pc) and honey bbq (10pc) a slice of pizza while waiting for the rest of the group to arrive…and I’m glad I did. Bc the rest of the guys came, ordered, got their food before the wings arrived. Took atleast 20 min for the wings for dine in.

The wings were cut so drummette were separate from the flats. So 1 anatomical wing is considered 2 pcs.

The pcs were on the small size. Nice presentation. The wings were very hot (temp wise) since we were dining in. There skin had a nice crunch. Not overly bread coated. Minimal fat under the skin which I prefer. Generous amount of flavor sauce. Comes with a cup of ranch

Mango habenero flavor was on great. Not overly spicy. Good tang/kick to it. Spicy bbq is bbq sauce with red chilli peppers. Standard stuff.

Overall value is there. Would be better if the pieces were bigger. (I had the halal BWW a week ago as a comparison and those were almost double the size). Order ahead. And I believe if you eat them too late they become soggy. Which might be the case with any wings.

Overall I give these a solid 8.5/10. Will get again in the future.“

“I was recommended this place by my coworkers and this is honestly the best chicken I’ve ever had at a restaurant in many many many years. Food is cheap, atmosphere is friendly, owner is super nice, they even have a selection of mild to spicy sauces that’s huge and some of them they even made themselves. That Yummi sauce sure is Yummy. Give this place a shot you won’t be disappointed.“

“This was a welcome surprise. My family and I would frequent the location in Bolingbrook when it was around. After they closed we figured no other locations would be near us. We happened to be in the area yesterday and saw this location pop up in maps while searching for someplace to eat. As indicated this location is carry out only. We placed the order online and it was actually ready a few minutes before the time given. The staff that we interacted with were friendly. I gave the atmosphere a 5 even though it was carry out only but the restaurant it was in looked 5 star. I was going to complain about the pricing but we were actually pleased with the amount of food we got for the price point. I gave a 4 for the food because while the ribs were excellent the chicken was mushy and sides were fair but not great and I remember the mac n cheese being more palatable than what we got. I would definitely order from here again but not include the chicken in that order.“

Lou, Heidi and Kelly did fantastic and helped make my dream come alive! Every question I had they answered and were able to accommodate so much! Heidi was in CONSTANT communication with me and was able to give advice and help me through the whole process. Her suggestions were so helpful and she helped during the ceremony and reception. I could not have done it without them. This place treats you like family and has amazing service! When my husband and I went to pick up our things the next morning we were planning on taking 2 trips and Lou let us borrow his truck that is how amazing and friendly they are! WE LOVE YOU HAWTHORNES! “My first visit to Char Kabobs was excellent! I wasn’t sure what to order because I’m not (yet!) super familiar with the cuisine. The chef? recommended the Chicken Boti wrap and it was delicious! I’d asked for it spicy and it had the perfect amount of heat for me. Freshly prepared, flavorful tender chicken, lots of onions, just the right amount of lettuce and delicious sauce all wrapped up in fresh flat bread. I will definitely be back to try more items! Also tried the Grecian chicken, souvlaki combo (chicken and pork), and rib tips. Everything was pretty delish, service was quick...took about 10-12 minutes for all of this. There is a decent amount of seating and parking.

“Mr. Jesus attended us, super attentive, the empanadas were very good, the ones with mechadas have a lot of meat. I recommend them when I return to Illinois, I would go to this place without thinking twice.
