The made-to-order omelets and eggs Benedict are excellent, and the rest of the spread is huge- salads, smoked salmon, grilled veggies, and all the breakfast classics like bacon, waffles, and corned beef hash. “Bluegrass Restaurant is a wonderful, family-owned restaurant. We have been ordering takeout and eating in since we came to Highland Park three years ago. The owners take pride in managing the restaurant on a daily basis. They prioritize customer service, great food, and a warm, welcoming experience. Last night, they hosted the Highland Park/Highwood Professional Moms group. We had only expected 15 women to attend, but 25 women ended up coming. The owners and the staff were AMAZING. They brought over additional chairs. They provided us with top-notch service, including separate checks. “We had a wonderful dinner at Prairie Grass Cafe. The spring rolls were loaded with delicious perfectly cooked shrimp and the accompanying sauce (sweet chili with garlic and cilantro) plays nicely with them. The flounder with roasted carrots and parsnip-potato purée was as delicious as it looks. It was generously portioned and beautifully plated. We also enjoyed the mussels with parsley, shallots, and breadcrumbs pasta. My husband is Sicilian and it reminded us of the pasta con le sarde that we love to have in Sicily. The mussels were plump and delicious. The wine list is very nice. We found wines we really enjoyed and they were reasonably priced. We enjoyed the Attems, Pinot Grigio, Friuli, Italy ‘22 with our mussels and flounder, and the Fritz Haag, Riesling, Germany ‘21 with our pumpkin pie for dessert. Service was perfect.“

“What a great meal and service at Pasta D'Arte Trattoria Italiana!

To start, the drinks were solid—a nicely balanced Manhattan on the rocks and generous pours on the wines by the glass. Our group of four shared the Caprese Salad and Caesar Salad, both excellent and plenty to go around.

For entrées, we enjoyed the Linguini Del Mare, Pumpkin Ravioli, Osso Buco, and Walleye Alla Piccata. Everyone loved their dishes! Note that the tomato-based sauces have a nice spicy kick from red pepper—we really enjoyed it, but if you prefer milder, I assume they can likely accommodate.

The attentive and knowledgeable service made the experience even better, guiding us through choices nicely. Free valet on a busy Saturday night was a plus as well, and the overall vibe was welcoming.

My only complaint: the place gets very noisy on a packed Saturday night, making conversation tough without raising your voice. It's that lively, bustling trattoria energy, though!

“I have been in this restaurant for more than 4 times. I highly recommend it. There are a lot of parking. Once you come in; you are greeted with a warm greeting and and enthusiastic smule by the host or owner. The servers are very accommodating , friendly and helpful. They check on their customers for whatever they need until your meal is done. The busboys are hardworking and any requests will be granted right away. The food/dishes are cooked just the way you requests. Their steaks and eggs are up to par. The prices are decently priced. For what they serve you, good amounts of food. Well worth it. Freshness and presentations of foods are stupendous! Never did I have any complaints the way the place is ran. Very clean. Wide open. Eventhough i live far. I kept going back and i know when i leave, my tummy is full, content and some take home left overs. Check their menu. Check the big breakfast meal. You can't go wrong with their reasonable prices. Saw the reviews for The Oak and we were so glad we did. The burger I had was the best burger I have ever had, our friend felt the same. We left the restaurant and we were going to take individual pics, then this really nice guy offered to take a picture of all of us. He was so very nice. Guess what, he was the owner.
