“Spanky’s is a solid spot overall and definitely worth a visit. I’d give it a strong 4 out of 5.
The drinks were the highlight—well made, consistent, and exactly what you want when you’re out for a good time. The atmosphere also stood out in a good way. It had a lively, comfortable vibe that made it easy to relax and enjoy the evening without feeling too crowded or overwhelming.
Service was another positive. Attentive without being overbearing, and everything came out in a timely manner. You could tell they were on top of things, which always makes a difference.
Food was a bit more middle-of-the-road. We tried the jalapeño poppers, and while they were decent, they didn’t quite stand out compared to everything else. Not bad by any means, just not the star of the show.
All in all, Spanky’s delivers where it counts—great drinks, good service, and a fun atmosphere. If you go in expecting a bar-first experience with solid food on the side, you’ll leave happy.“

“Let...me...tell...you......🙌🙌🙌 I've been here a few times....and the last time they ran out of these...because they're SOOOO good! Tonight my mom in law and I split a slab! 🔥🔥 I'm a "tester" of ribs...and believe me when I say....I will ALWAYS be going for these EVERY time! NO sauce needed!! (And besides....I'll be supporting my son while he works there 😍). We met the owner, he asked how we enjoyed our time. Of course we mentioned Austin is ours, he had nothing but great things to say about him! He said we have a good one! JC is an amazzzzzing server!! 💖 If you haven’t been there....go! “Bill was absolutely amazing!! The drinks were phenomenal, I got the Negroni and my husband got the cherry Manhattan. They were to die for. He took his time with each, and we had a chance to celebrate not only our first time at this spot, but our first date in a while. This was worth it and we will be back. “I’ve been all over the U.S. and by far this is the best bar I ever been too mostly locals but great company would 10/10 recommend if you are stopped in the area, only downside they don’t serve food but if you get food nearby feel free to bring it with you but there are plenty of options nearby!!“

“I come here every week or so with my 3yo nephew and it’s our favorite spot. We’ll get some pizza, maybe something from the salad bar or mac and cheese or soup from inside the Whole Foods, and grab some food and I’ll get a drink from the bar. They have a bunch of card and board games to play while you’re there. I also love the outdoor seating in the summer; they have a tv outside too to catch the game, as well as two tvs inside. Matt is amazing and knowledgeable about the drinks and food, and is very kind to us. We truly look forward to seeing him on our visits. Highly recommend to anyone who wants some good food, drinks, and vibes! :)“

Positioned in what used to be an old Indiana town where the stagecoach used to stop here to give its passengers a rest, eats and drink. What a wonderful building . a building that even holds in the basement stories of the prohibition . A place that one day progress will destroy. Enjoy it while it’s still here..“

“A very clean bar. I didn't eat anything there or even know if they have a kitchen. The bartender was very nice and outgoing. The crowd was like an after work crowd. We were meeting friends there to go to a ball game. Had a great time, the time we were there. I would go again.“

“A nightclub in the middle of Harvey. And...it...was....bumpin!!!! On a Thursday!!! Just wow!!! The bar inside is fairly small but well appointed. Since it s summer? They had 3 huge tents...and a great sou d system. It was not only loud? But clear. You could hear the music clearly and the lyrics were clearly discernable from several blocks out. Wow Smittys!!! You are winning!!!
The security was also excellent. With the sidewalks all blocked off......with horses and tape and rope. Done well. Bumpin in Harvey!!! If u want a black owned nightclub? With great music? Atmosphere? Vibe? With young AND grown people? You ve found it!!!!

“Great pizza, but dropped the ball with service on recent visit. This is one of our favorite places for pizza in the area, and we go there regularly. The food is always good, but today, we sat there for over 20 minutes without a single person stopping by to offer us water, offer to take our drink order or even just acknowledge our being there. It wasn’t even especially busy - most tables were empty. We gave up and went somewhere else.“

“I have seen this place there since I was young. we were out with some friends and decided to swing in. It is a quaint, little old homey bar. we loved it!!! The building looks like it is original to the town. (I love old vintage buildings, etc). We bought a round of drinks, hung out for a while, shot a game of pool. The customers and the bartender were very friendly!! Be aware they are a cash only bar (they do have an ATM inside) and it is a smoking bar so if you are sensitive to smoke. We will be back!! The one thing I noticed they changed the sign in the parking lot they had for years. I loved how it had a picture of the parking lot and had some cars, but also had a snowmobile and motorcycle parked together. Odd combination....but humorous!! 🤣 We will be back to support this local business!!“

“The joy I feel when I go to Home Plate Pub is indescribable! The bartenders are the friendliest and most efficient in all The Ville! The quality of the coke has gone down a bit, but the patrons that frequent Home Plate are some of the finest people that you’ll ever meet. The only other bar in Hessville that was FAR SUPERIOR the Home Plate was Brothers II, and sadly that fine establishment is no longer in business! RIP RON & SUE“
