“We visited Louisville for a long weekend and stopped in for dinner on a Friday evening. The place was packed. Kait was our server. We started with the beet w/mixed berries and the cast iron rosemary foccaia--so good! The bread came with a berry custard/cheese butter mix spread--ridiculous! For dinner we ordered the half chicken and the risotto w/rock shrimp. Both were outstanding!! Katie did a great job and the staff really worked well together.
(Just FYI...they make their pasta in-house). Highly recommend!!“

“My favorite weekday drinking dive for over 12 years. Something different every late night to entertain; live music, karaoke, movie night, Jeopardy watch party, weekly cyclist night. Sometimes even just some free drop off pizza from DiOrios. Right on the corner of Germantown and Paristown and just up the street from Old Forester concert hall. This bar is also home of the "Iceberg" , a Titanic inspired cocktail! Some theme decorations (Lego ship!) along the back of bar. Also a great collection of Star Wars figurines on the other half of back bar. Outside food welcome but they do have hot dogs and chili dogs along with a wall of snacks if you need something in your tummy before you throw down some beer etc. Small, but quaint patio in the back. As you head to that patio you'll walk through a cozy movie room that displays posters of past Sunday Cinema movies that are shown there every Sunday at 8. This neighborhood bar doesn't pretend! “First time visitor, long time stalker. I had a pleasant afternoon sit and sip with an orange wine that paired perfectly with a 75 degree, sunny March day. The garlic dip and kettle chips was on the short list of the bartenders favs. It could have used a bit more garlic for my taste but was good. I also had the Hot Brown empanada to go and regretfully did not get another.
While the appearance looked like it might have been a little too well done for my taste, was flaky and slightly nutty. Delish!!!

She really took the time to get to know what we each liked and guided us through a tasting that felt completely tailored for us. We honestly felt like VIPs the entire time! “Unique atmosphere, great cocktails with a wide selection, and the staff was extremely friendly. The owner took the time to give us a little history about the speakeasy and showed us the “special entrance”. Very laid back atmosphere with different rooms for privacy for your group, you can visually see the original wood beams- super cool! Large bourbon selection too!“

“We had a cheeseburger and we shared the hot wings. We had the wings shaken in buffalo sauce and they were perfect. The cheeseburger was so good and had been hand pattied. The bar had several beers on tap.We had good service and the prices were extremely reasonable!It is a tavern. So it is not too kid friendly.“

We wanted to check out the speakeasy too but it ended up booked for a private event which was tragic for me personally because I already mentally prepared myself to act mysterious in low lighting.

I ordered Pharaoh’s Dream, or Plane? Prayer? Something biblical and expensive sounding, and it was GREAT. Dangerously great actually. Had I not been limiting myself I absolutely would’ve gotten tore up!

The crowd felt a little standoffish but there was a conference happening at the Omni that week so honestly I think a lot of networking and corporate mingling was happening more than socializing.

Still, the drinks and atmosphere carried the experience.“

“Hell or High Water was an excellent cocktail bar in Louisville. It oozed atmosphere from the second we walked in, and the service was solid throughout. Really enjoyed the drinks we received and the overall experience. I also felt the prices were decently fair for a higher end cocktail bar.“

It had capers and something kinda minty - pretty good sauce if you don't mind the capers - gave it 4⭐ cause I like a light spicy with the special sauce. Overall I would get it again.“
