“After the recent severe storms swept through Northwest Indiana, our community has been left dealing with widespread damage, extended power outages, and limited access to basic necessities like hot meals. With so many places still closed, finding somewhere open to eat felt urgent. After days without electricity, seeing Panda Express reopen was a small but meaningful relief in the middle of the chaos.

The line stretched out the door and the drive-thru never slowed, yet every team member delivered exceptional service with patience and kindness.

Luke, was taking all the orders by himself. He managed a large crowd while maintaining a warm, welcoming attitude. The cooks worked efficiently to keep food coming, and even when the cashier’s payment system went down, she remained calm and continued assisting customers without missing a beat.

Chloe, the manager, stood out for her respectful and supportive leadership toward both customers and staff, an example of true professionalism.

Despite the pressure, the entire team stayed composed and positive. It was clear they were well supported and valued, and that energy carried directly through to the customers.

I drove over 30 minutes with my daughter just to find food during the outages, and after this experience, I will absolutely be returning.

“This is my most favorite restaurant. The food is ALWAYS delicious. The owners are ALWAYS pleasant and welcoming. The restaurant is ALWAYS clean, and that is a big plus. Their orders are very fulfilling. I've also never received a wrong order. They absolutely care about their patrons, and that means a great deal. I live in Chicago, and have a Chinese food restaurant in walking distance from my residence, but I come here, and I wouldn't dare go anywhere else“

“Service is still great … but when closed then reopened, the quality of the food is now NOTICEABLY DIFFERENT (worse). Different chef, perhaps? Not sure what I mentioned it because I always order the same thing chicken with black bean and garlic sauce. The last two times I ordered it after they reopened they used dark meat and it was always always always white meat chicken. Also, the sauce is different. Something’s changed, but I’m just not sure what. It’s still my favorite Chinese restaurant in the south suburbs but they can do better. I say that because they’ve been better.“

happy I did! This is a great place for Asian Cuisine!!
They offer a good variety of dishes and appetizers at a super affordable price! The food we got was more than enough to share and/or save some for another meal tomorrow! “C & J has the best mixed vegetables, fried rice, egg rolls, & sesame chicken. & you can get a meal for a reasonable price. My mother introduced me to this place when I was a little girl. She would get the sweet & sour chicken w/ eggrolls to share with me. Now I've introduced my child to C& J. It still tastes the same. 10/10!“

Huang House is one of the best Chinese restaurants I've been to. The food was fresh, flavorful, and served hot. The portions were generous, and everything tasted homemade. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and made sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant was clean, and the service was quick even though it was busy. I highly recommend Huang House to anyone looking for delicious Chinese food. I'll definitely be coming back!“

“I would’ve gave them 5 stars because the food is great and the service was great too. However, I ordered Shrimp fried rice and they add beef and chicken to it. I had to pick the chicken and beef out of my fried rice while eating it. Other than that everything was good. Best Chinese food I’ve had in a long while. “Since I moved from Illinois I have not found a good Chinese food place until yesterday when I ordered at this place. They are #1 for sure! I ordered the combination fried rice and requested it spicy. It had so much meat in it. Every bite was meat full. And the rice was on point great flavor and delicious. “Im unable to give 5 stars. The cheese wantons are made with imitation crab meat my wife could have died. I caught the pink flek before she swallowed. Anything made with sea food of any kind MUST be properly displayed. Your going to kill someone.

“I've passed this place probably a thousand times over the last 20 years. I never bothered to go in here because I thought it was closed down. I started working a new job a few doors down from this restaurant when I realized they were actually opened. I went into this location because I needed something to eat fast and much to my surprise it was a very good. The vegetable egg rolls were top-tier and the fried rice was fresh and tasty. I will definitely go back it was surprisingly delicious.“

“I love the sweet and sour chicken and the orange Chicken of course And what is this I hear about no more coconut smoothies. I was talking to the lady in front and asked.(The lady is nice and I always like to make people laugh and smile)You guys should definitely bring the coconut back, it was my number 1 favorite. “I gave up on Good Chinese food in this area a long time ago. I moved back to this part of Merrillville and now First Wok is my goto! The Beef and vegetable Chow Mei Fun is absolutely the best I ever had in my life! The eggs rolls are done perfectly also.“

“Have been a loyal customer to this restaurant for over 40 years and have continued to patronize it despite the inconsistency of food quality. Although I have always been treated kindly when I pick up my order, I can see why patrons complain about management, not overly friendly. It is in serious need of an update as peeling wallpaper and drab interior, regardless of the fact you can’t be seated for a meal, leaves one wondering how kitchen is kept up. At one time it was best Chinese food around, not so anymore.“

I was over an hour late picking up my order because of unforeseen delays, and she made sure that everything was hot when I got there. They definitely prefer cash which is understandable seeing as credit cards charge them money. I'll be back. Food was incredible.“
