Restaurantji's McCordsville guide: Where to find the best Mexican flavors.
“I've been to torchys a few times now and just today introduced a newbie to these tacos. Mason not only provided outstanding customer service he also went above and beyond to ensure our food was fresh, hot, and got everything we needed. Thank you Mason and Torchy's yet again for a grand experience! The queso was the best I've ever had my goodness I recommend even if your lactose. Lol“
“I visited Taqueria Rosales for the first time and I'm very glad I did. The food and the service were both excellent.I had three tacos - chorizo, ground beef, and carnitas. All were delicious. I normally prefer flour tortillas, but their corn tortillas were excellent.“
“Food was great, didn't know it was a Qdoba/chipotle style restaurant where you make your own orders but wasnt disappointed by any means!Imagine a qdoba that serves cold beer, it was very tasty! The staff was also polite and accommodating. Will definitely be coming back!“
“I’ve been here a few times and the food doesn’t disappoint. I did have a disappointing experience today with our bill however. There was an extra meal charged on our bill which I brought to our servers attention. When she returned, I found that instead of voiding and printing a corrected bill, she ran a credit charge for the overage. This meant I had to pay the higher incorrect charge and wait (from what I understand) a couple 3-4 days for the credit to return to my card. I don’t feel it appropriate that the customer pay for the billing error then have to wait for a refund. I did let them know I wasn’t happy about it. I will be watching that I do receive this credit. It also put a bad taste in my mouth about returning anytime soon.“
“Jesus was amazing - we hadn’t been so I asked a lot of questions for unique drinks and meals to Verde. He was very helpful and suggested greats foods and drinks. The fish is off putting but was delicious! The ribeye was cooked to a perfect medium rare and super flavorful.“
“This place is has some good Birria Tacos. I have yet to try more items on the menu, but I will soon. The prices are average, compared to most other places and taco trunks I visited. But the portion sizes is nothing close to the west coast or southern region.“
“I've been to a lot of different Mexican restaurants in the Indy metro area, and this is hands-down one of the BEST. Got the camarones a la diabla and they were wonderfully spicy (not too supremely spicy either). Choriqueso was very well seasoned and delicious as well. Service was immaculate too. This will not be our last time here either!“
“"Warning: this Mexican seafood restaurant is so good, you may need to buy a new wardrobe. I swear, I've tried every dish on the menu (twice) and each bite is more delicious than the last. The shrimp tacos? Divine. The shrimp tostadas Heavenly. The grilled fish? Ah, just take my money already! And don't even get me started on the guac - I've gained 5 pounds just from scooping it onto tortilla chips. But honestly, it's worth it. My taste buds are doing the cha cha slide and my waistline is paying the price. 5/5 stars, would highly recommend...and also suggest buying stock in stretchy pants.“
“The new server is very polite and patient and presented herself with etiquette. She smiled alot and was very attentive! The food was on point (I'm a certified chicken and steak tacologist). Everything was well seasoned! The chips and salsa aren't the typical chips and salsa style, but better! The restaurant was very clean and the music complimented my margarita ?... it was like an extra shot of tequila in my cup. I didn't expect so much swag and atmosphere before I walked in. I am definitely glad I did, and I appreciate having places like La Iguana I can go to when I need great food!“
“We got there two late for the lunch menu. I got the Chipotle Burrito, which was delicious. It came with a side o rice and a salad. It took me 3 meals to eat it all. So, divide the price by 3, and that's how much it cost me per meal.Parking: Large parking lot in center of L shaped strip mall.“
“This place has an incredible range of food and is a great place to get quick service on the way home and actually get a meal that isn't loaded with saturated fat (for those that aren't worried about that they have plenty of options that aren't healthy too). I recommend the bowls as they are the most well rounded. The Cuban in particular has plantain, yuca, rice, beans, and pork.Dietary restrictions: Options for the gluten intolerant. I also avoid soy and dairy as well which there are options for here also.“
“This is the first time I have visited this restaurant since they changed to Mexican and Greek Restaurant from Greek and American, my husband has been and liked it, so we went today, had the deep fried chicken chimichanga, warm fresh tortilla chips and homemade salsa were served almost as soon as we were seated, also ordered the cheese dip appetizer, everything was delicious, chimichanga was loaded with tender chicken!“
“This is a hidden gem inside a Mexican grocery store. The food was really, really good! I had an asada taco and a chicken tamal, and they were both very flavorful. I would put the tamal's flavor right up there with those from The Tamale Place, though the portion was a little bit smaller than TTP's. My husband got 3 tacos supremos, one molida, one pollo, and one chorizo, and he really liked them too. I'm picky about my pico de gallo, and theirs did not disappoint! And their salsa had a very good flavor with something very interesting that I couldn't put my finger on. But my tastebuds knew and liked it! The chips were average, but everything else was top notch for authentic Mexican food!“
“This is the second time I’ve been here. The food has been amazing both times. The first time, the service was less than adequate. Today, however, it was awesome! Isabella was excellent! On top of everything even though she seemed to be the only server on duty. Keep here!“
“I have 2 spots I will go to for tacos and they're both food trucks and both on Pendleton pike. But this one is amazing, they have amazing tacos, obviously the only way to eat tacos is the authentic way with onions and cilantro lime and salsa. The salsa aquacate is AMAZING I would come here and JUST order salsa if I had to it is so good. I always order extra and keep some for my other dinners at home because I love salsa. I believe they only take cash but they are fast with the service they're very nice and they are ALWAYS there. Definitely worth stopping for!!“
“We stopped in at about 3pm not knowing anything & hungry. The food is amazing! I grew up on TexMex in Houston and lived in New Mexico. I was surprised & thrilled to find such new, tasty combinations. The "single serve" pitcher of watermelon margarita with candies on top was an added treat. But the best part was Angie. She is a delight! We plan to return with family & friends.“
“I recently dined at Riviera Maya Mexican Restaurant, and it exceeded all expectations. The vibrant atmosphere, coupled with friendly staff, made for a delightful experience. The menu offered an array of authentic Mexican dishes bursting with flavor. Each dish was meticulously prepared, showcasing the chef’s skill and dedication to quality. The presentation was impressive, and the portions were generous. The margaritas were expertly crafted, adding to the overall enjoyment. With top-notch service and a menu that transports you to Mexico, Riviera Maya is a must-visit for any food enthusiast. I give it a solid 5 stars for an outstanding dining experience.“
“Not the Mexican you're used to. Focuses on seafood. You won't get lovely, spicy, chunky salsa with your chips. You get mayo and ceviche. Can't even ask for salsa, you know like Chi-Chi's, On The Border, or Pace. Nice people, good staff. My wife likes seafood so I go. Drinks seem very watered down (not just my opinion) so stick to beer.“
“We LOVE Chuy's. We love it so much that we drove almost 3 hours to go to this restaurant. This is an exceptional Chuy's. The service was quick and friendly and the food was perfect. Now we just need one like this closer to home and life would be complete. We enjoyed our chips and creamy jalapeno, burritos and quesadillas. And because we donated to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, we got to spin the wheel for a prize. My son really enjoyed his tres leches cake that was the size of a dinner plate! We will definitely make the drive again to visit this Chuy's to get our Tex-Mex fix.“
“The customer service at this establishment is truly exceptional. They have mastered the art of serving appetizers in under 5 minutes, even during busy times. The Mexican cuisine they offer is incredibly authentic, making it a standout in the Fishers area. The staff is fantastic and engaging, making every conversation enjoyable. I highly recommend this place for both lunch and dinner, as their food is consistently fresh and delicious. We've had the pleasure of meeting the manager a few times, and he is always approachable and friendly.“
“Stopped in for dinner, servers were nice and attentive, you won’t leave hungry, the portions are very generous, food was delicious and the prices were very reasonable. We will definitely be stopping by any time we are in town!Parking: For the truckers, there is a truck stop a block away.Kid-friendliness: We saw several families and there is a bar area as well with outside dining when weather permits.“
“I had the steak fajita and my husband, the Texas fajita. The portion sizes were enormous!!! Gordon Ramsay would complain that half the profits are walking out the door. Ha ha! But we've got another meal later, so it helped our pocketbook. The waiter was nice. He could have been a little more attentive. We will definitely be going back.“
“Nestled in an old burger joint, could use some updates as far as atmosphere goes. Food was tasty and hot. Wife had beef nachos in which there was enough for two. Portion a plenty. Jumbo shrimp were nothing more than 25 to 30 count butterflied to make appear large once battered. Guess I was expecting something different. Other reviews is what led us here, service and overall experience just not what I imagined.“
“I came to Tequila Sunrise for the first time yesterday and was impressed by the menu - there are so many options, and the prices are reasonable. My boyfriend enjoyed the fajita burrito- said it was nothing revolutionary, but was tasty. I got the shrimp tacos- the tortillas came pretty soggy, but otherwise they were nicely seasoned and very filling. It may have been because of the free chips and salsa, but I couldn't finish my whole plate! Great for leftovers. I will say that the quesabirria taco was very disappointing- it was very bland and greasy, and there was a good amount of fat that had not been rendered on the meat. All in all, the service was fine and most of the food was pretty decent. If you're looking for a solid place with cheap drinks, affordable food, and large portions, I would recommend Tequila Sunrise. I kind of wish there was more of a Mexican restaurant "feel" (the decor is supposed to be modern but feels a bit sterile) but oh well!“
“This is a great authentic Mexican taqueria. The Tacos Al Pastor are amazing as are the Tortas. I have been here a few times for lunch and it never disappoints. They even have horchata. It's a small no frills place that puts all the focus on the food and they do an amazing job.“
“This is a hidden gem of Fishers and easily one of the best Mexican restaurants in the greater Indianapolis area. Every time I've gone there, the staff are super friendly and nice. The chips and salsa are complimentary and easily the best in all of Indianapolis. They have multiple salsa options that are not your run of the mill watered down salsas you normally get elsewhere. These have varying levels of heat and flavors, but every one of them is robust and amazing. The chips are also much higher quality than your standard Mexican restaurant. The main dishes are also phenomenal. You get so much food for your money and every dish is just a level above what you would normally expect elsewhere. They are also the only Mexican restaurant I've been to that does vegetarian/vegan options right. The veggie tacos/burritos are delicious and not an afterthought like other places. I cannot say enough great things about Samano's.Vegetarian options: Some of the best veggie tacos/burritos I've ever had. Easy to make vegan if you ask for no cheese.“
“I was pressed for time but wanted to sample some food. I got 1 lingua (beef tongue) taco to go. It was excellent and everything tasted fresh. This is definitely authentic and not your typical Americanized taco.I definitely want to go back and try something else!“
“My husband and I were on a shopping trip at Saraga International Market in Castleton and decided to stop for a little lunch. I had tamales, refried beans, and rice, and my husband had asado with beans and rice. We both had some horchata. Being inside Saraga means it's going to be a little cold in the winter. I think it's just a function of the space being so big. The staff was super kind and very helpful. The food arrived quickly and hot and it was delicious. No complaints whatsoever. Would absolutely eat here again.“
“Great food and service!! I was surprised at the portion size of my tacos combo.....real refried beans, not those runny beans and perfectly cooked rice and the tacos were stuffed with chicken. I'll take the drive to get there over and over!“
“First time here! It was suggested by a family member since it is their favorite place. The restaurant was very nice. Not the typical Mexican decor. More like a sports bar but really nice and clean. Felt upscale. The server didn't speak a lot of English but handled his duties well. The chips were pretty standard, not my favorite. However, the food was great! We got a ton of different items, veggie fajitas, chicken chimichangas, steak burritos, Chicken Taco Salad, Chicken Enchiladas, and seafood fajitas (with shrimp, scallops, and Tilapia). All were fresh. The fajitas were full of peppers and veggies, broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, onions. And everyone at the table was very happy with their meals. We didn't have drinks but what we saw were absolutely enormous. Worth the trip north.“
“While Los Cabos Mexican Grill in Castleton may not have the title or recognition of being the absolute best Mexican restaurant in Indianapolis, it's definitely in the running! The food taste absolutely amazing and is well portioned, the entire atmosphere of the restaurant is great and the service is top notch!“
“I love their food! Even though they have multiple items on their menu, there aren't so many that you feel overwhelmed. They also list all the ingredients in English and Spanish so you know exactly what you're getting. The food is fresh, always hot and made to order. And I can't say enough about their fresh squeezed juice. The papaya, and the passion fruit juice are amazing. I come at least one so a week, and I would definitely come more if I lived closer lol.“
“Food was a great a nice staff for a great price. Our awesome server gave us a bag of chips and salsa to go for no additional cost. Called my kid champion I thought that was nice. Our server gave us a to go bag for our food. We ordered the Texas nachos and the Chile verde both were amazing! Overall great place we will definitely come here again!!“
“The margaritas were delicious albeit a little pricey. They’re pretty big, though. The food was delicious. Would recommend the Monterey chicken. Service was great. Bathrooms could have use a cleaning, but we did come towards the end of the day.“
“Best authentic tacos in Indianapolis! The food is tasty and spiced to perfection. You have to order the grilled chicken - lots to eat for one person. The menu has a great variety of delicious Mexican dishes. Family friendly and prompt service.“
“We haven't been here for a while since we don't live near by but it was as good as I remember. We have been coming here with friends that live close for years and the staff is always friendly and remembers us. It's like our kids have grown up together. ?“
“I can't say enough good things about this place! Right when you walk in the door you are greeted with a smile. The staff are friendly and quite literally make you feel like part of their family. You can tell they have regulars because they stopped and chatted with almost all of their guests about "how they'd been." This is always my favorite thing about a local restaurant. The set up of the place is really spacious and makes you feel like you're in a courtyard! We only ended up having a margarita pitcher and chips and queso, but both were great, so we will definitely return for a full meal. I would return just to be treated like we were on this Friday night“
“The best tacos in indy by far, they remind me of going to Mexico in the summer. $2.79 per taco and they're loaded, the carne asada is very flavorful and has no grit. The flavor, portion, and price of the meat blow Qdoba/chipotle out of the water. You have to be patient because it's normally only 1 person working. They also charge you $1 extra if you pay with your card so bring cash.“
“I'm from out of town and just randomly pulled in here for some takeout. I love al pastor tacos and these are the second best I've ever had. I went in order the takeout and I thought that was a little bit expensive. And then I realized once I got the food I'm going to be eating this for the next 3 days. I know I will not be back in this area again but if I was I would stop. The second picture is of their tamales which are huge“
“This truck was at a church event that they had. I've never eaten at a taco truck before, but I didn't want anything else they had. These guys gave the BEST customer service I've ever had, AND the food was amazing! If I see them at another event, they'll definitely be my go to!“
“This is it! La Hacienda 12 is hands-down, one of the best traditional Mexican restaurants in this area, especially if you grew up in Southern California like I did. The tamales, whether made in house, or not, are a taste of the Pacific Coast Tijuana area like few other restaurants have pulled off. The Arroz Texicano, Do yourself a favor, try that! If appetite, meets flavor, meets value is for you, you’ve come to the right place. Cinco estrellas!“
“Authentic TEX MEX , all the patrons and staff were Latino except me , but I was served promptly and welcomed warmly. I ordered two shrimp tacos delux and they were delicious and quickly brought out by a beautiful friendly waitress. This restaurant is adjacent to a small Latino grocery store . I think this is a common practice and I believe it promotes fresh food and family atmosphere. Try it you will like it!“
“Great everything! Went for the first time today and didnt have to wait at all. Immediately our drink orders were taken and margaritas served. I got a blueberry margarita which i have never seen in a mexican restaurant, and I loved it. My mom got a marg flight and loves every single drink. The food was great with a pretty diverse menu, the service was great. Will definitely be making the trip again.“
“This place is great. Every time I visit, the food is always delicious! When I go (2-3 times a month), it's always at lunch as I work nearby. The wait is never too bad, you can call ahead if you'd like. Staff is always friendly and my order has never been incorrect. Will continue to dine here when I'm in the mood for Mexican food. Highly recommend. I would imagine this is as close to authentic as you can get without traveling to another country“
“We love El Rodeo! It is one of our favorite Mexican restaurants in the area and honestly both locations near Noblesville are great! Good food, drinks, service, and prices. It is also well decorated and is a good ambiance for a Mexican restaurant. Keep up the great work!“
“First time visit on a Saturday night. Had to eat fast to get to a movie across the street that started in 40 minutes. They assured us they could accommodate our time requirement with a smile and confidence. Drinks, chips and salsa were on the table in no time. Order taken - enchiladas and the Monterey quesadilla - was also delivered very quickly. Delicious! Great friendly service! Fun decor and clean bathroom! Made it to our movie with time to spare. Looking forward to going back soon!“
“I love everything about this place! Super excited that’s is Celiac friendly. The only negative is that it’s too small for how awesome they are. Hoping they expand soon, but we WILL be returning even if they don’t.Dietary restrictions: I have Celiac Disease and this place has so many options for me which is exciting because most places either have just one, or none.“
