“While the menu may not be huge, the flavor certainly is! With ten of us dining in I think we tried just about everything on the menu and we were all extremely pleased with what we ate. The kid’s meals were adorable in a little special box with a toy. The decor and ambiance was great. It was a little confusing walking in not knowing if we should seat ourselves or that we had to head straight to the back to order and then sit, but we figured it out! Would definitely go back if I ever find myself in the area.Kid-friendliness: Kids meals were adorable!“
“It's been a while since I've had this place. We sat down and dined in this time, and they have really expanded the menu (forgot to take a picture) lol, and the food, drinks and service are just as good as before, maybe even better now. I'm glad to see they now take credit cards as well as cash. Would recommend! ??_______________________________________Finally, I tried this place. Really, good food and service were friendly and welcoming. Really enjoyed the birria ramen!! It's a bit pricey, but the quality of food is worth it. Cash Only and a great small, local businesses to support. Would recommend.“
“I’m a recent transplant from NC and sent my husband here because we are in the middle of moving and the last thing I wanted to do was cook. This food was AMAZING! I had the fish, Mac and cheese, collards, stuffing. The best fried fish I HAVE EVER HAD. It tasted home-made. Everything was fresh and good and I’d have taken a picture but I was too busy stuffing my face! My husband said the lady behind the counter was super sweet and offered suggestions and he (who does not eat fish!) ate half my fish!! The portions are HUGE for the price and I will be returning. Tomorrow probably.“
“Omg everything here tastes amazing. As me and my son arrived we were greeted with a complimentary shrimp taco which was delicious as heck. We ordered mango Agua Frescas very refreshing. I also had the cheesy shrimp empanada the friend tilapia meal with garlic sauce. My son ordered the Sanchez roll with beef. The flavors and spices on the food here is top-notch I love this place!“
“I usually don't leave any type of reviews unless I am personally moved by the establishments. But this little restaurant just personifies the current aged and melancholy sense of the American Dream. People work very hard in order to flourish here in the states. And often times are given the short end of the stick all while still pushing on and doing their very best with what they have.Long story short. We ordered online through a third party and the restaurant had no capability of retrieving the order because they no longer did business with them. They struggled to get anyone in contact who could help so they decided to do the honorable thing and took it upon themselves to cater to our personnel at my workplace to make sure we got what we had paid for even if that meant it came with a potential loss. The employees are kind, thoughtful, and evidently very hard working. Always bustling through, doing whatever they could to help the kitchen. The kitchen staff worked as the heart of this place to fly out orders as soon as possible. You can TELL these hardworking people have a passion in what they do. That it matters to them. I truly hope that they are able to get this issue resolved because otherwise they were a pleasure to do business with. The food was also very and I mean VERY delicious. Give it a try, you will be in good and very capable hands.“
“Stopped by to try them out & I can say I’ll be back again.OMG this mamas burrito is delicious & the orange juice helps bring it all together.Super clean on the inside, the lady at the front was super nice & helpful. Food is made fresh to order. I had to snap a quick pic before I finished “
“All I can say they are so delicious…… The nachos are large portions comes in a medium size pizza box enough for 2 people to share……..My favorite is the chicken nachos which is loaded with melted cheese………I finally tried the pork and when I say it’s so tender no fat let’s just say I have 2 favorites now…….If you're looking for some good food come here“
“Lived in Texas before moving to Chicago, these guys have the best Mexican food I have tried in the city. Not only are their tacos, burritos, and tortas (of all meats) authentic, but their red and green salsa are the best I've had in Chicago. The red salsa is actually spicy and the green salsa is actually creamy. The food comes fast enough and they are always playing really good music, they deserve your money. I'd rather come here than go to Pilsen.“
“Tavern of the Oaks has great food. I highly recommend the wings and pizza. A community bar....reminds me of CHEERS! The owner Maria is cool and the bartenders are great-Frank,Amy,Sammy,Steve,Nichole and Shannon. Let's not forget Nila, the cook!! She can throw down in the morning. Great spot to stop after work. Right by the casino. Breakfast menu is fire, grits, eggs and bacon, hash browns and pancakes“
“My cousin and I decided to check this place out. She had the tacos and I had a Gogi Bowl with spicy pork. Delicious. Atmosphere is very chill. And it’s in a great location near the University of Chicago. The service is fast. I would go again once I return to Chicago. Perfect balance of food.“
“We ended up at this place by chance with 6 of us, ranging from teens to a grandma. All of us loved it. The tacos were really delicious. Grandma felt that the guacamole was too salty so the owner came out and apologized, made her a fresh batch to her liking AND removed it from the bill. Both food and service were top notch. The atmosphere was super fun and lively too.“
“We've driven past this food truck frequently, and we finally decided to try it after work one day. I wouldn't have minded just a tad more English on the menu, so we could have been more confident in what we were ordering - or at least more clearly marked vegetarian options - but there was enough for us to figure out an order. There is limited space there for waiting for your order and most of it was directly in the sun It took a little while for our food to be prepared. Overall, everything was fine, and this is a decent option to have in Hammond.“
“So I'm staring at the fry cook and he's staring at me. So I stare at him some more. He stares back. I'd ordered six wings with extra lemon pepper--the way I figured that was about two shakes of the plastic bottle containing the spice. The expediter dumped four shakes and turned around and asked me if that was enough. I thought that I should say: "Nah! Unscrew the top and pour all that on there," but I didn't. I stared at the fry cook. He stared at me. All in all.. good chicken, clean restaurant and a place to get loose squares or random stolen objects just outside it's doors. Thank you Red Rooster... for I shall return.“
“My first time food was excellent, was ready in a timely fashion and was not expensive. I will recommend this place to anyone. In my opinion better than the big Mexican restaurants including Pepe's. Customer service is very professional. You get your money worth! Won't be my last time eating here.“
“Today is international taco day. This place is kinda cute my first time here. The lettuce seemed fresh and the shell and meat was tasty. Only thing is I thought I had ordered cheese on my taco. It was clean . The lady seemed nice. The menu was in english and spanish. I had 2 steak soft shell tacos“
“First timer as of yesterday . Food was really good I had the 3 meat fajita bowl (dine-in) food was cooked to order. Fresh and hot when served. The cook and cashier were polite and friendly. Dont get that anymore from other restaurants .The place was nice and clean really don't see that at most places . Will come back to try other items on the menu and will tell everyone when in town .Small family business ready to grow it's 2024 people prices are going up stop being cheap when you order out. Bet you don't even tip. All they need to do is get a bigger sign outside for drivers to see from afar.“
