“Daniel and his team recently catered a corporate event for me and everything was fantastic. They communicate well, showed up early, set up everything, and the food was FRESH & DELICIOUS. Our employees were ecstatic. I overheard a ton of conversations from employees asking "where's this place at? I need to take my family!"Daniel was a pleasure to work with, and we will most definitely be catering from them again in the future.“

“This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Louisville. They are so nice and kind. The food just tastes higher quality than other places, particularly their beans. Their salsa also tastes fresher than most. The staff remember you and know what you are ordering even if it’s been awhile since you’ve been there. They ask about your family and seem to enjoy being part of the community. Lovely people, lovely place, lovely food.“

“This place is amazing. First time trying it. The burritos are massive and full of fresh and delicious ingredients. Authentic Mexican flavors. Nothing was over powering and no cilantro!! Hot, tasty and delicious!! Staff was very attentive, clean and well dressed and friendly. They listened to our requests and complied. The food is a little pricey but totally worth it. You will not regret eating here. You will be stuffed. We did not eat in the dining area, we ordered it to go. Packaged nicely with chips and salsa. The place was clean , inviting and spotless!! 100%! Unless you are overly picky and anal, this place is worth a visit for authentic Mexican cuisine.“

Very good caldo de res. Chicken quesadilla is one of the best. Very simple and quick. Steak burrito is plentiful. Beans and rice, good. Then to the bakery. Very good, fresh breads, cookies and cakes. Lastly, dessert. Nice fruit and ice cream. My wife always gets flan for take home. The main ingredient? Customer service is the best here. We have been going here for years and not once had a rude person wait on us!! Seriously, everyone has been kind and helpful at this establishment. That, more than anything keeps our business.“

“This is a really tasty quick place. My only complaint is the quesadillas are a bit oily. I prefer them dry on the outside, but the cooking oil is still on there. The flavors more than make up for that. Every item I have tried in 5 visit has been so tasty.“

“Our favorite food truck in Louisville! The truck itself is very clean, the owner and his wife are truly wonderful people and the food is incredible! We've pretty much tried everything on the menu and we keep coming back. The chicken is super flavorful, I personally love the chicken supreme tacos. My husband usually gets the steak tacos or steak quesadilla. We always get a few Birria tacos to eat in the car before we head home to finish our feast :). They park right outside of Girards Hardware.“

“The food was so freaking good! The agua de horchata was amazing, you could tell it was homemade because it had the rice and cinnamon at the bottom of the cup. I got the shrimp and octopus cocktail and it tasted beautifully. I also got the tamal de rajas and it was pretty good. I cannot say enough good things about this place, I really recommend it! The service was fast and friendly, it wasn't busy/packed on a Friday evening.“

“Absolutely. Amazing. We are visiting and renting out an Airbnb down the road, we initially drove to another Mexican restaurant close by but there was absolutely zero parking (not because they were busy, just because there wasn't anywhere to park!) and so we just came back to our rental and walked to this one. We were settling for it but we soon realized this wasn't just second choice, it should have been our FIRST choice! Every bit of the meal was delicious and authentic, the chips were thick, flakey and melt in your mouth. The salsa came out warm and addictive. Cheese sauce? Thick and hit the spot. My friend enjoyed a MASSIVE burrito and some chicken tacos, and I enjoyed the steak fajitas. She said those tacos were the best she's had and she quite enjoys her authentic Mexican tacos. Those fajitas were definitely the best I've had, tender juicy, and perfectly marinated. I am quite miffed I haven't found a place this good where we live. Low-key jealous actually... (Everything was hot and fresh and we dined at 3pm on Saturday.)Anyway! We will be back again before we leave Louisville. Absolutely.“

“Ordered a stuffed green pepper meal. It came out as a fried flat green pepper with cheese and tomato sauce. No meat. I was looking for a tall whole green pepper with beef and rice cooked together and stuffed in the pepper. Learned a lesson, never order this again. It was NOT a stuffed green pepper.“

“The first place I have found in Louisville to serve lengua, I am in loveHad a lengua taco, a chorizo and an asada. Double corn tortilla, onion and cilantro AS YOU DO. Two sauces were provided, a green and a red, both were excellent. Also of course a mandarin Jarritos! Service was extremely pleasant and prompt, they were in the middle of setting up a BBQ later in the evening and did not let us suffer for that!Interior is exactly how you would expect, tall booths and some tables, an amazing array of art, cheery music and papel picado hanging from the ceiling.Am so excited to go back and try more off the menu!!“

“Even though this restaurant might seem old-fashioned, the food is quite tasting and fresh all the time. Great service from the waitress. We ordered the whole grilled chicken, and it was served fresh and hot with beans, rice, tortillas, and salsa. We also bought 2 drinks it was $30.00 total. Great price feeds 2 adults, 3 babies!! This restaurant also has a pool table and plenty of seating if you want to dine in. It has a men's and a woman's restroom. As mentioned, it might look old place, but it's very clean from inside. “These are some of the best tacos we have had in KY. We live in Lexington, so we make sure to stop by for some tacos whenever we go to Louisville. Their Aguas frescas(natural flavored waters) are really good too, this last time I got pineapple and my husband got mango. Both were awesome. I didn't get a picture since I remembered as I was finishing my tacos. Sorry ?Parking: They have parking up front and then some side parking too.“

“I was looking to buy a burrito and Google lead me there. Never knew there was a restaurant tucked in the corner of this little outside strip of businesses. Not many, just a couple that seem more geared for immigrants coming in. If I had to guess I would say it was more of a Venezuelan or Latin American cuisine type place even though I was looking for the good ole Burritos as big as ur head like a Chipotle but this food was still pretty good. Seemed really authentic and not to pricey either. Now a days if I can get a meal at a restaurant for myself and not pay more then $20 with tip, I consider that average and almost cheap meal! Pretty sad but is what it is while our government is coming in to government roles just an average Joe, and retiring multi millionaires, but not from their salaries, no just mainly from side deals and stock info they get before us peon citizens even know what influenced the markets so much a certain way!“

“Always good, a but pricier than I remember but overall a good experience. The food was good, I got a huachinango, tostada de pulpo, Taco de pastor, frozen mango margarita, and a cantarito. Looks like they are remodeling or adding to the restaurant, can't wait to see the finished product.“
“It was a bit hard to find the restaurant because they don’t have a sign yet. Once we got our food and we tried it we were sold. The food is delicious and the service was fast! I got the caldo de res (beef soup) and it was delicious! They also have a little store where you can purchase other products.“

“It appears that it's recently been rebranded Mesa de la Familia but if you've been to El Caporal in the past take comfort in knowing that the menu and the food you've come to expect will be available. I'm generally torn between one of three things: Beef Tip Chimichanga (fried), Chilies Poblanos Rellenos, or De Mole. The Chimi is my favorite as the beef tip falls apart in a gloriously shredded and mouthwateringly juicy fashion. The Rellenos is perfect when I'm not as hungry (or I've managed to eat way more chips and salsa than I thought I would and perhaps a language barrier resulted in my cerveza containing 20 more fluid ounces than I intended - there are worse things that can happen). De mole is the sort of dish that I reach for when I want a meal that is uniquely Mexican; I could be wrong but I don't think think mole makes it on the menu at many other Mexican restaurants and sometimes it just feels right to order the "meal of the ancient Aztec gods."“

“I live in Louisville. I've sorely missed tamales, pozole, breakfast tacos, etc. pretty much anything Mexican since I left Austin, TX. I asked woman I ASSumed who is Mexican if she knew where I can find some tamales and she recommended this place. I made a plan to visit this place this weekend. We walked into this magical Mexican grocer which has all the secrets to Mexican cooking and culture. What was more exciting I knew we wasn't supposed to be there cause we got the looks black folks give white folks when they invade our spaces. This is when I knew I hit the jackpot! We got a dozen tamales, 1/2 chicken and pork, and we went to the restaurant next door to eat pozole. It was yummy!“

“Great food. We've tried the gorditas, pastor tacos, quesadillas, elotes. The carnita tacos are great as well. Everything is delicious. We always call ahead and it's ready when we get there. They have spicy dipping sauces that go with everything. The green sauce is my favorite. Fast friendly service! Located in the parking lot of Cox's smokers on bardstown road. Great for late night eats.“

“Absolutely wonderful experience at El Mariachi today. The place is beautifully decorated, clean, spacious. The servers and hostess are incredibly friendly and welcoming. We ordered the steak fajita and the chori pollo. Servings were very generous. Everything we ate was top notch. They have menudo on the menu as well. The bakery next door provides desserts, and we had the tres leches cake. Phenomenal. Highly recommended!“

“Very delicious food. The cashier messed up my daughter's nacho order, Simply due to a language barrier. But when I explained the issue to the nice woman she was more than happy to swiftly solve the little hiccup in the meal. 5/5 Best Hispanic food ive had since leaving South Florida. The only advice id have for the employees/Chef/owner- Consider making a couple dishes more toned down to the local residents in your business's customer base, Considering the vast majority of locals in that area. Delicious food, Some locals may be afraid to try something completely new to them- But something with a familiar name they would be more willing to purchase- Then they may try new menu selections once they discover how Delicious your food is.Second small idea you may find helpful, I noticed when ordering with my two little girls, There wasnt any type of smaller food item for them, Strictly full sized meals/portions. Maybe consider individual taquitos, small quesadillas, Or hand sized chimichanga's possibly?Otherwise, Muy Bueno muchas gracias amigos y amigas.“
“My favorite spot to get fried tilapia, cooked carnitas and chicaron. They have plenty of produce selection-specially their giant avocados. I often get their pre chopped vegetables for caldos. It comes with peeled and cute potatoes, carrots, cilantro, and corn. The butcher is a great spot to get your ox tails and sausages. They also sell tamales here-my favorite is the chicken and the cheese.“

“Flavorfull tacos, fresh food and big hearty portions. I've been visiting this place for few months now. The untraditional store sign made me timid to try but once I did, I couldn't stop. The tacos are simple but very flavor full and the portion of meat is generous. Chicken, steak or beef, it was all great, highly recommended. I also never liked Torta before Johnny the owner and master behind the scrumptious food here made me which Don't sleep on the plantain here that they peel then fry before your eyes. I endorse this business“

“I only visited this place once before like 5 years ago and it was something to remember cause i learned what a hot plate was burning the memory of that place into my head but what i remembered was that one of the things i had from there was amazing but it was like a faded memory so when me and buddies decided to go out to eat i pitched going here and we all ordered the same thing Gigante Burrito with the power punching cheese drenched over it and it was just absolutely amazing it was literally Gigante weird eating a burrito with a knife and fork but it was worth it in the end cause i left wanting more.“

“I got the aguachiles mix and the large cantarito. The aguachiles were good, but they were absolutely too spicy! I'd had them before this time and I'm not sure what it was, but they were just too hot. I think next time, I'll just stick to ceviche. All their seafood is really good! The mojarra frita is also really good. The cantarito was very refreshing. Service was fast and friendly, I will say though. It was Friday night and they had a mariachi, so I would be wary of that if you want to actually sit down and talk over dinner.“
