“We always are served well at The River House. We had the November special dinner and it was perfectly prepared. Nice steak, beautiful lobster tail and potatoes and asparagus were almost more than I could eat. But the salad and dessert were the perfect way to start and end my meal. Hubby had the cod and fried oysters and declared the oysters were the best he ever had. My shrimp basket was loaded with huge shrimp and the Cajun fries were very good. Personally, I order the Fish and Clams when I go, you dont have to order that but you're also entitled to have a wrong opinion of the best thing to eat, Perfect place for a 3rd date, would willingly fight a goose in the parking lot to get inside if I had to, inside its exactly what you would expect... old people taking up all the tables like some sort of early dinner club, I believe I was the only person not wearing geriatric tennis shoes out of all of my visits there. I feel like the restaurant is slightly misleading because they dont actually have whale on the menu, it seems like basic white fish, the same as the old people inside (basic and white). Overall have went, have returned and Lord willing will return again.“

We ordered a nice bottle of wine, but our server never returned to refill our glasses. A French fry order was forgotten, and when we asked about it, things seemed to unravel. The server was visibly exasperated. A supervisor eventually stepped in, handled things professionally, and assigned a new server—but by then the mood had shifted. This wasn’t just any lunch—it was a farewell meal with a dear friend leaving town, and I’d hoped for a flawless experience. At over $230, I expected more attentive service. I don’t share this lightly. Connors has been a place we’ve enjoyed many times. But this visit left me disappointed, and I won’t be returning anytime soon. There are many excellent Sarasota restaurants where $250 buys not just a good meal, but service that feels genuinely welcoming.“

“My visit to this Moby Dick fish restaurant left me disappointed. The fish sandwich didn't taste like I recalled from earlier years. I don't know if the batter or the oils in which the fish is fried has changed or if it was my taste buds being a bit off from hours earlier brushing my teeth with toothpaste and mouthwash rinse. Consequently, I'm not going to leave the three star rating I would if I knew for certain it wasn't my taste buds affecting the taste. Even still, the fish sandwich was hot and well prepared and tasted fine, but it seemed just a bit off from the exceptional taste I recalled from a regular visits a few years earlier when I regularly patronized the Moby Dick in St Matthews before it closed. I'll try it again soon and make sure I am hours away from having brushed and rinsed. Ha! I appreciate the Moby Dick establishment and that we still have it in Louisville, so I hope my taste buds were off.“

I placed my order online late last night when I read about the fresh crab and scheduled to pick it up at 4 today. He cooked it all right there in front of me, everything fresh and tasty. “We had my daughter‘s bridal shower at this restaurant and let me tell you everything about it was spectacular: the view, the food, the service, parking and accessibility, cleanliness. Julie, the event manager, took care of everything exactly as I wanted it without needing to be reminded of how we wanted the private room to be set up. The servers attended to our needs constantly and were very professional. The food was even better than expected, The restrooms were clean and of course the views were spectacular watching the ships come and go. Truly a wonderful experience.“

“We have been to the restaurant several times. I have never tried their steaks so I decided I would this time. I ordered the Maui ribeye. The flavor was good but it was very tough. I ordered it medium and it was cooked properly but there was a lot of gristle which made it hard to eat. For the high price it was very disappointing. My husband ordered the hamburger which was excellent. We also ordered a side of broccoli cooked perfectly. The carrot cake was great as always.“
