“I gave five stars for atmosphere because the place is wonderfully decorated, so much color, so much of the culture on exhibit, and it's everywhere. It's unfortunate not all El Nopal's are decorated so nice. Some of them look like the cafeteria at the elementary school,....i.e.: HP, Blnknbaker, ...., anyway, the only thing that would have made this six stars would be a mariachi band. The service received four stars - while everyone was professional and attentive the language barrier sometimes interferes with getting the order correct - for instance, vegetables instead of rice as the side... And then giving the change request to someone who never got that communicated to the right people. Other than that, wonderful people and very nice. The food was of generous portions, well prepared, great flavor, HOWEVER, my chicken breast had been flattened to the point that it was very very tough lacked moisture and was difficult to even chew. A chicken breast should be plump juicy full of flavor and easy to cut through. Everything else at our table was prepared well and delicious to all. When shopping at the Mall St. Matthews, definitely consider this place for a margarita cold beer your choice of cocktails and some good to great Mexican food. Good job you guys thank you, we'll be back.“

“We were in Louisville for just a quick trip and our family was looking for a good authentic Mexican place to eat. We were SO GLAD to have found this place! The ambience is amazing and so beautifully decorated. The service was perfect, but the best part of all was THE FOOD. The specials were Caldo de Camaron, Pozole Verde, and Chiles Rellenos all super authentic and tasted just like one would make it at home. The drinks were fantastic, we had agua de horchata and jamaica and both were sooo fresh and tasty. Overall, we were happy that the one place we chose to eat was here!! If you are hesitant to stop by, don’t be, just go!!“

They have a lot of choices you don’t commonly see anywhere north of Mexico. Honestly underrated and more people need to discover this restaurant. “This is the BEST Mexican restaurant in the region! Generous portions, fair prices and authentic choices that cater to a wide array of palates. Have gone here for several years now and never disappointed. The staff is always friendly and expeditious. Recently had a carne asada torta and tried their pozole rojo. The torta was massive and properly assembled. The steak was perfectly seasoned and grilled as always. Only regret not having gotten a lengua torta. Found out after ordering they recently put lengua back in rotation. The pozole was rich, flavorful and full of large cuts of tender pork. Enough for at least two meals worth. If you’ve never been, what are you waiting for?? Give this place a try“

“We are 2 globetrotting foodies, temporarily located to Louisville for work. Monday night dinner here (home made quesadillas with squash blossoms and corn smut, taco with chorizo) was followed by Tuesday night dinner here again (home made quesadillas again, tacos with chicharron, al pastor, campechano, lomo, carnitas). Our tummies say “thank you”!

It’s amazing that a food truck in a gas station 4 minutes from our house is serving such authentic food from Oaxaca, Mexico!

“We are visiting the town of Louisville and we stop by to get lunch at Mi casita. The decoration is authentic, I love the Mexican guirnaldas and the hat. The place is cozy. The food is good. My favorite part is the service. I highly recommend to eat here. The chunky salsa was my favorite one, spicy and perfect. The size of the portions are just perfect, I even take leftovers home. It is run by Mexicans, that tells you something, it is good.“

“I travel a lot and am a Mexican food nerd, and this was not only the best food I had in Louisville, it ranks as some of the best Mexican food spots I’ve been to in a long time (and went back as my final meal in time before flying out).
