We began with drinks that set the tone beautifully: a Watermelon Gimlet—fresh, fragrant, and perfectly balanced—and a crisp, subtly spiced Basil Cucumber Mule Mocktail in a copper mug. Later in the evening, a smooth Espresso Martini brought just the right note of indulgence.

The Soft Shell Crab Gnocchi was a standout—perfectly crisp and golden, served over pillowy gnocchi with Lake Pontchartrain blue crab, brightened by pesto cream and sauce vierge.

The Chicken Paillard was equally lovely: tender, pan-sautéed chicken with crispy potatoes, Creole mustard sauce, and a peppery arugula salad that brought everything into balance.

Dessert was a perfect finale: a light, tangy Lemon Ice Box Pie with a buttery graham cracker crust and just a touch of hazelnut syrup—simple and satisfying.

And while the food and ambiance were exceptional, it was Amya’s warm, gracious service that truly made the experience memorable. She was intuitive and kind, attentive without ever interrupting the rhythm of the evening—a rare and welcome gift.

I wasn't going to stop here but I took a chance. Sage was very nice! He spoke, he was polite and friendly. So glad the customer service is better. Drinks are good, too. It wasn't busy or crowded. “My wife and i were surprised at the relatively dissapointing nightlife in downtown Baton Rouge. As we drove, she searched for a speakeasy. We came upon Hayride Scandal. Parking was easy, as we came upon the location nestled alongside a Hooters. Tall wooden doors open to a very nicely decored bar room. Darkly tone wood accents with bar or lounge seating. We choose the bar, as it is my habit to strike up conversations with the mixologists and learn about the establishment. 5 stars go to Brian, who was willing to engage my questions and then 3 mixology challenges. Classic black & white movies play on monitors over the bar tv. Fellow bar patrons were excellent conversation and an opportunity to wish them a happy birthday. Brian and Hayride Scandal made up for a great Saturday evening. Highly recommend this locale for all!“

“So my experience at City Pork on Highland was amazing. The interior was clean and modern. I believe our servers name was Aisha, and I was honestly having a bad day and she made me feel so much better with her kindness and hospitality. My meal was the Pork Belly Hoagie and I would rate that an 8.5/10. I think if it had some pickled onions on it to balance the richness from the pork belly, it would be even more amazing. Although it did come with a pickle, but I didn’t really care for that, it was too sweet for my liking so I give that a 4/10. I also had a side of coleslaw, and it had this peppery taste, which I actually enjoyed, while it was still sweet (but not too sweet) and crunchy. I’ll give that a 7.5/10. My husband got the smoked chicken and he would give that a 9.5/10, because he wanted even more because it was so good.“

Location of the restaurant is set back from the road in a strip mall so it can be slightly difficult to locate.“
