“This is one of my favorite restaurants in town for food, service, atmosphere-everything! Yesterday I called in an order for work for about 20 people, and even though they don't open until 11, the manager worked with us and the kitchen and staff had the food ready right at 11, all labeled and nicely packaged. I love this place so much, I even bought a watercolor of the restaurant from the farmer's market. A true gem.“

“Omg!!! To all my New Orleanians... I have stumbled upon a Hot Sausage gold mine that's made with Patton Hot Sausage. This place prepares the hot sausage the way we usually like it in New Orleans and the bread is not bad as well. They are a little pricey but well worth it. My family and I will surely make this a go to place from now on. I think all we need to convince them to do is add Big Shot drinks to their selection.“

“We went to Mel’s on Johnston St. this past Saturday. It was busier than usual but there was a visiting football team and their supporters in town. The crowd was loud, but everyone seemed happy. The food came out hot and was very fast! The food and the service was excellent! We love Mel’s and had another great experience!“

First, have to thank the exceptional service from Management that Mr. Kade Guillory provided a reserved table for myself and two other girlfriends who all have slight disabilities and can’t stand too long. “My husband and I travel to southern Louisiana the first weekend in May every year to partake in the crawfish festival. As a result, we like to dine at as many local establishments as possible and we always try to give an elaborate, detailed review. Let me preface this by saying I come from a family that owned a restaurant for 24 years and I have high standards. Since we come to town for crawfish, that is usually the first thing on the menu. It is not my favorite, but my husband loves it. So he ordered the crawfish(platter I think) which was a couple pounds with corn and potatoes. We were offered regular or spicy. Right here is where things get different. We eat a LOT of crawfish down here and we do our own crawfish boils. You can choose “spicy” and obtain that by leaving them in the pot for a few extra minutes to soak up the seasonings and they will be “spicy”. However, there are a few places that try to obtain the “spicy” by adding a powdered heat to it after they have been removed from the pot. If you like that way, that’s fine. We do not. We find that all it does is get all over your hands and face and really doesn’t add very much flavor to the meat at all. Each to their own. On the flip side. The crawfish were cooked and presented well and they were priced right. I had fried catfish. This too presented its own problems since it was brought on a basket, but I didn’t receive any napkins, a plate, or a fork. I did go and ask for them and received all of them. I realize that most people are ok to eat certain things with their hands, but I am a nurse by trade and I know what is lurking around on people’s hands. There will never be a day when I will eat anything with my hands. On the flip side. The catfish was phenomenal!! It was seasoned to perfection! Cooked exquisitely well and served hot! On a scale of 1-10. I’d give them a 7.5. It was good. The things they did good, they did really good.“

Not sure when they stopped putting the salads in its own container but I just got a salad full of sauce and rice. The customer service at this location is also lacking. Employees are always on their cell phones even when a customer walks in.“
