“🌟 5 Stars doesn’t even begin to cover it. I finally tried Veronica Café, and I’m officially mad at myself for waiting this long — because this place? Mind. Blown. I’ve had my fair share of plate lunches over the years, but this was on another level. Everything was cooked to absolute perfection. The red beans and rice had that perfect smoky flavor — rich, hearty, and balanced. Nothing overwhelmed anything else. Just good, soulful food that makes you close your eyes and nod like “yes, THIS.” The mac & cheese? Creamy, cheesy goodness that could double as therapy. And let me talk about the fried chicken. Y’all. Fried chicken might be a simple dish, but what they’re doing at Veronica Café? Next level. The seasoning was chef’s kiss — not too salty, not too spicy, not too bland — just flavorful all the way through. Every bite had me wondering how they made it taste that good. You can feel the love in every dish. I genuinely believe everything was cooked with care, intention, and soul. After today, this is officially my go-to spot for plate lunches. “Ok I need to wright a review with 200 words so I chose this place thing is tho I’ve never been here don’t even live here but the places name is cool “swankys Downtown” W name very cool I don’t even know what the got here but it’s probably good. Anyway ima tell a story about my pain when trying to play ping pong, ok so me and my dad where at the worlds second largest Marriott very cool place 10/10 but I wanted to play sum ping pong so I went down to the pool but there where people playing so me and my dad went up to our room. The next day we went to go get breakfast and when we came back, the same two people where playing ping pong now thing is they aren’t GOOD they aways miss the ball like how can that be fun. The NEXT DAY THEY WHERE STILL PLAYING PING PONG I hope this was long enough.“

“During our dinner today we had a medical emergency and the staff acted very quickly. This was a scary moment for us as my aunt needed immediate medical care and the staff did not hesitate to help. They went above and beyond by packing up our food while we worked with EMS and continuously checked in making sure we were okay.
This could have come off as an inconvenience or a problem but instead the staff stood up and helped out.
Our family will forever be thankful for the kindness and compassion offered by the staff.

“We stopped in on our was from Texas to Alabama. The store was great! Clean, well organized, items not found just anywhere.

I stopped specifically for the pork cracklins. While the flavor was good, not overly spiced, they were fried extra hard, to the point I thought they would break my teeth.

I'm definitely going to give them another chance, hoping this was an unusual occurrence. I also want to try the chicken cracklins.“

“I ventured to Lafayette to attend Festival International. Since I had the morning and most of the afternoon free the day after my arrival I decided to head to Vermillionville to explore the historic village and have lunch at La Cuisine de Maman. What a great decision!! The food at the restaurant was delicious. I had the plate lunch with a cup of seafood gumbo to start. Everything was really good. The plate lunch that day was crawfish etouffee over rice, smothered green beans, fried shrimp with tartar sauce, and a big biscuit. Portions were very generous; I thought that some of the food might overflow onto the table.😊 I didn't have room for dessert; although I've since been told by lots of people that I should have taken it with me. After eating, I explored the village. What an amazing blend of history and culture it is! I can't wait to return.“

“My husband and I travel to southern Louisiana the first weekend in May every year to partake in the crawfish festival. As a result, we like to dine at as many local establishments as possible and we always try to give an elaborate, detailed review. Let me preface this by saying I come from a family that owned a restaurant for 24 years and I have high standards. Since we come to town for crawfish, that is usually the first thing on the menu. It is not my favorite, but my husband loves it. So he ordered the crawfish(platter I think) which was a couple pounds with corn and potatoes. We were offered regular or spicy. Right here is where things get different. We eat a LOT of crawfish down here and we do our own crawfish boils. You can choose “spicy” and obtain that by leaving them in the pot for a few extra minutes to soak up the seasonings and they will be “spicy”. However, there are a few places that try to obtain the “spicy” by adding a powdered heat to it after they have been removed from the pot. If you like that way, that’s fine. We do not. We find that all it does is get all over your hands and face and really doesn’t add very much flavor to the meat at all. Each to their own. On the flip side. The crawfish were cooked and presented well and they were priced right. I had fried catfish. This too presented its own problems since it was brought on a basket, but I didn’t receive any napkins, a plate, or a fork. I did go and ask for them and received all of them. I realize that most people are ok to eat certain things with their hands, but I am a nurse by trade and I know what is lurking around on people’s hands. There will never be a day when I will eat anything with my hands. On the flip side. The catfish was phenomenal!! It was seasoned to perfection! Cooked exquisitely well and served hot! On a scale of 1-10. I’d give them a 7.5. It was good. The things they did good, they did really good.“
