“The lady who answered the phone & then transferred me to the Deli was polite & Freindly as was the gentleman who picked up the phone in Deli & took my order. However the young girl at the cash register in the Deli was not. Management should take note bc with as much competition as there is in a pretty small area , I know if I have the choice between an establishment with polite employees and one that does not ,I’ll take my business to the one with a positive experience every time. The Bbq and sides were delicious & almost made up for the cashier’s attitude.“

“I ventured to Lafayette to attend Festival International. Since I had the morning and most of the afternoon free the day after my arrival I decided to head to Vermillionville to explore the historic village and have lunch at La Cuisine de Maman. What a great decision!! The food at the restaurant was delicious. I had the plate lunch with a cup of seafood gumbo to start. Everything was really good. The plate lunch that day was crawfish etouffee over rice, smothered green beans, fried shrimp with tartar sauce, and a big biscuit. Portions were very generous; I thought that some of the food might overflow onto the table.😊 I didn't have room for dessert; although I've since been told by lots of people that I should have taken it with me. After eating, I explored the village. What an amazing blend of history and culture it is! I can't wait to return.“

“i had the catfish dinner and let me tell ya'll, I have been eating, catching,cleaning and eating catfish since I was a baby(didn't start cleaning them til I was 7), and Knotts Cajun Cafe knows how to do it right! It is not overcooked, the seasoning is right on and it's not to salty! ( like alot of places) I will dang sure to stop by every time I am in the area!“

“My husband and I travel to southern Louisiana the first weekend in May every year to partake in the crawfish festival. As a result, we like to dine at as many local establishments as possible and we always try to give an elaborate, detailed review. Let me preface this by saying I come from a family that owned a restaurant for 24 years and I have high standards. Since we come to town for crawfish, that is usually the first thing on the menu. It is not my favorite, but my husband loves it. So he ordered the crawfish(platter I think) which was a couple pounds with corn and potatoes. We were offered regular or spicy. Right here is where things get different. We eat a LOT of crawfish down here and we do our own crawfish boils. You can choose “spicy” and obtain that by leaving them in the pot for a few extra minutes to soak up the seasonings and they will be “spicy”. However, there are a few places that try to obtain the “spicy” by adding a powdered heat to it after they have been removed from the pot. If you like that way, that’s fine. We do not. We find that all it does is get all over your hands and face and really doesn’t add very much flavor to the meat at all. Each to their own. On the flip side. The crawfish were cooked and presented well and they were priced right. I had fried catfish. This too presented its own problems since it was brought on a basket, but I didn’t receive any napkins, a plate, or a fork. I did go and ask for them and received all of them. I realize that most people are ok to eat certain things with their hands, but I am a nurse by trade and I know what is lurking around on people’s hands. There will never be a day when I will eat anything with my hands. On the flip side. The catfish was phenomenal!! It was seasoned to perfection! Cooked exquisitely well and served hot! On a scale of 1-10. I’d give them a 7.5. It was good. The things they did good, they did really good.“

We also tried the Wild Turkey poboy, also delicious. Don't forget the onion strings. The best poboys we've had in Lafayette to date. The staff were great also.“

“Ohhhh man, I walked into this place, it was empty, and I disrespectfully thought to myself “I done messed up”. Disregarding my thoughts I asked the man serving me “what is everyone’s favorite”. He told me his favorite was the brisket burrito therefore I rolled with that. I’m not lying when I say that it was the best GD burrito I’ve had in my life. I was in an absolute state of ecstasy from the second I bit into that sweet pocket of divinity. I swear, I heard the gates of heaven open as 7 trumpets played “Jarabe Tapatío“.

“Boys had meatballs and stuffed bread. I had the stuffed bread and a side of corn. Everyone was happy with their plates, and the stuffed bread was absolutely delicious. The bread was tender and the stuffing was rich with meat and slices of sausage. Divine. Well worth getting off the interstate for.“

“Double cheeseburger was very good! Patties were nicely seasoned and they cooked it medium rare for me which I asked for and appreciated. Fries were just Ok, but I’m not a big fry guy. If they put cheese on the fries that probably would be tastier. $17 for a double cheeseburger is a bit pricey, but apparently that’s the norm round here.“

I came here for the first time because Lumber Jacks (another eatery I wanted to try seemed to have been closed for good).

I saw chicken and sausage gumbo on their menu, but they ran out.

I tried the shrimp stew. It came with corn and potato salad. It was good.

We also tried the fried catfish (2 pieces), and I really enjoyed the piece I tasted.

If you are ever on Moss St. and looking for a plate lunch, the Lunch Box might fill the void.“

“I just tried Cajun market last week for the first time. I moved here from California 2 years ago and have been searching for a donut that reminds me of the donuts from home. This place is it. These are the closest to west coast donuts that I have found here. They are just so delicious. The staff here both times I’ve gone in now are very friendly and always helpful. “Looked for a sit down crawfish boiler between Ville Platte and Lafayette that was boiling for lunch on a Saturday. Cankton Cafe was one of the few sit down places open and boiling. The place was easy to find with plenty of parking. The staff was very friendly and attentive and the crawfish seasoning and quality was above average. Definitely a small town restaurant worth taking a detour for.“

“I’m in from out of town. Best price from the options on line that weren’t “chain pizza places”. Pizza was fire, dope, delicious. Ate the whole thing in one sitting.
