“I ventured to Lafayette to attend Festival International. Since I had the morning and most of the afternoon free the day after my arrival I decided to head to Vermillionville to explore the historic village and have lunch at La Cuisine de Maman. What a great decision!! The food at the restaurant was delicious. I had the plate lunch with a cup of seafood gumbo to start. Everything was really good. The plate lunch that day was crawfish etouffee over rice, smothered green beans, fried shrimp with tartar sauce, and a big biscuit. Portions were very generous; I thought that some of the food might overflow onto the table.😊 I didn't have room for dessert; although I've since been told by lots of people that I should have taken it with me. After eating, I explored the village. What an amazing blend of history and culture it is! I can't wait to return.“

“This place genuinely exceeded my expectations in every aspect!! I still can’t stop thinking about it! I found out about them through the Foodies of Lafayette page and people did not lie. We tried the Pork Belly Bahn Mi (which alone is such a fun, creative menu item for a place like this) and 3 portion BBQ plate. NOTHING disappointed, good LAWD. I also honestly feel like the BBQ plate is extremely fairly priced for how much high quality food you get. We tried the prime brisket, pork, and st.Louis ribs and everything was incredible. Also some of THE best corn maque choux I’ve ever had as a side. The pork belly bahn mi was also obviously as good as the pictures looked. Aside from the food, the atmosphere is incredibly stylish and comfortable, with a modern vintage look, nice spacious seating, and incredible bathrooms. The customer service was top notch too! Everyone was incredibly helpful and seemed so passionate and hard working, always staying attentive and busy. I genuinely feel so lucky to have experienced something so refreshing in so long, it’s been so rare to find a gem like this!“

“Omg!!! To all my New Orleanians... I have stumbled upon a Hot Sausage gold mine that's made with Patton Hot Sausage. This place prepares the hot sausage the way we usually like it in New Orleans and the bread is not bad as well. They are a little pricey but well worth it. My family and I will surely make this a go to place from now on. I think all we need to convince them to do is add Big Shot drinks to their selection.“

“Finally decided to try Julian's Poboys...one word, amazing! I had the shrimp poboy and it was delicious. The bread was the best and the shrimp were fresh and fried to perfection. “Lack luster gumbo: Arrived just after opening, ordered chicken and sausage gumbo with extra rice. Gumbo arrived and was luke warm. Had a overpowering taste of roux which really made the meal unworthwhile. I've eaten at Chris's a number of times before and not had this issue so there is the unknown of why it was soo bad this time. I will think twice before visiting again.“

I came here for the first time because Lumber Jacks (another eatery I wanted to try seemed to have been closed for good).

I saw chicken and sausage gumbo on their menu, but they ran out.

I tried the shrimp stew. It came with corn and potato salad. It was good.

We also tried the fried catfish (2 pieces), and I really enjoyed the piece I tasted.

If you are ever on Moss St. and looking for a plate lunch, the Lunch Box might fill the void.“

“I just tried Cajun market last week for the first time. I moved here from California 2 years ago and have been searching for a donut that reminds me of the donuts from home. This place is it. These are the closest to west coast donuts that I have found here. They are just so delicious. The staff here both times I’ve gone in now are very friendly and always helpful. I highly recommend getting some yummy treats from here.“

“I had a Shredded beef and beans hot plate, phillie cheese steak empanadas, and xxx hot shrimp. All three were amazing. when I ate it I almost cried I was so thankful. It was extremely unexpected after comming in here on a whim when all the Pho shops are closed. Get that Shredded beef and bean hot plate!! I'll est here every time I'm in lafayette for work now.“

“Boiled shrimp are excellent .. and get this .. sold without the heads (extra weight) .. perfectly boiled, right amount of seasoning, not a long wait, actually very satisfied even would go as far as to say .. pleased .. !!

Parking: The parking lot leaves a lot to be desired .. and I mean A LOT .. cement getting in and out of parking lot on both entrances/exists are broken up and washed out due to water erosion and omg the entire parking lot is one big pot hole .. can't tell if the business was built around the pot hole or if the pot hole was built around the business .. kinda like a molt (look it up .. molt)“
