“We have been about 6 times with friends and everyone loved everything we tried. The food is fresh with multiple layers of flavor. The negative ratings are about service or wait times. (Which we have not had a problem with) But the food is what matters! I recommend the poblano rice and plantains as sides. Nachos as an appetizer or entree because it is not a hunk of cheese melted on old repeatedly fried chips we find everywhere else. The guacamole is the best I have ever had. But, as a dessert gal, I have tried them all and there is not one I would not get againm(hint: the chocolate cake with flan on top is my favorite)“

“Lago’s food is always fresh and authentic. Try the street steak quesadillas, they are addictive! The molcajete is a must to experience. It arrived in a huge cauldron of roasted meats and veggies with cactus! Absolutely delicious. The service is always great!“

“Our lunch was perfect. Food was fresh, perfectly prepared and presented, and Delicious….prickly pear margaritas, welcoming comfortable environment…perfect! This is our new neighborhood wind down after a hectic week place!!!“
“Spooky front door, dressed for October in New Orleans.
Lots of choices for seating, very inviting. Came after lunch rush, was slightly busy. Very friendly service.
Warm bean dip was delicious, chips were also warmed. A plus for me.
Salsa was spicy but not too much.
I ordered the Pastor Bowl. Chicken was marinated and grilled, pickled onions, rice, a thinly sliced avocado with grilled pineapple on top. Laid on a bed of spinach. Garnished with cilantro. Very tasty.
Sweet tea rounded out my meal, done right. Yum“

“We are originally from South Texas so we know really good Tex Mex food. A lot of places in the New Orleans area say “TexMex” but have no idea what that means at all!! They still make a very South American style food. This place actually serves a texas tamale and puts a beef con carne gravy on top of the enchiladas and tamales like they do in Texas, not a gross red sauce! The George’ nachos were crispy and delicious with fajita meat on top. We had the Special Mexican dinner plates that gave you a little taste of everything and was under $15.00!!! They even did a special cheese enchilada for us instead of a beef one. Great outdoor patio area as well. The strawberry margaritas were great too. Love this place and will be back again and again!!?“

“Thank you to the ONLY place that ever never made me feel NOT handicapped! The entire service industry needs to be taught by these waitresses AND manager on how to treat the handicapped!!!! I WISH I COULD GIVE 100 GOLD STARS BECAUSE THAT’S WHAT THEY DESERVE. I NEVER FELT LIKE A BOTHER FOR THE FIRST TIME IN SEVERAL YEARS. I FELT LIKE I WAS WELCOME!!!!“

“I happen to be passing through town and found this place. From the outside it has a Mexican puebla look and the inside was big and clean. I had the enchiladas with salsa verde and a michelada and my sister ordered the carne asada tacos. The server was very nice and new the menu quite well. I mentioned to her I only like the spicy micheladas with salt and lime so if it was a sweet one then would opt for the margarita instead. She politely said okay but had a look like why would we make it sweet? Some Mexican American places do that but traditionally its salt lime and spices. Anyhow the enchiladas were pretty good. The portion was big and the salsa verde was mildly spicy with a little tang to it. I did love how the corn tortillas were a little toasted eventhough they were drenched in sauce. My sister's plate on the other hand made me and my brother in law jealous. I have no clue what he ordered and forgot about my own plate when the carne asada came out on a skillet with caramelized onions huddled around it. It was perfectly seared and lightly salted and the tortillas was fresh corn tortilla off the hot iron. If you like tacos let me tell you it does not get better then that. All in all it is a good place with genuine Mexican food and if you want to find other more traditional Latin American places ask the servers they know their food.“

“I love coming here! Every time I am able to stop by, I do. The employees are very nice, and make me feel super special! I have been noticing two employees that really stand out, their names are Joseph and, Nicholas (hopefully spelling those correctly) They can run the entire store by themselves! I am always impressed with them! I always leave with my belly full, and my heart happy. Keep up the good work guys! See you soon!“

“Far better than chipotle, great staff, clean environment and tons of variations of food to get! All protein choices are pretty delicious that I’ve tried. Salsa is made in house. Even the regular size burrito can be enough for 2 meals if you wanted.“

“I tried this place right after it opened and didn’t love it so unfortunately, I waited many years to try it again. Yesterday, I had a to-go order and I couldn’t believe how delicious it was. The shredded chicken empanadas were cooked to perfection. Even as to-go, it was perfectly fried. The shredded beef tamales… amazing. They are doubled in size compared to other tamales and so flavorful. The shredded beef taco, great!! The homemade tortillas didn’t hold up well with to-go orders but that’s not the restaurant’s fault. I truly was so impressed with everything I got. I will certainly be back, many times over! ❤️“
