“Last night I went out with two close friends and we decided to try this Italian place. We were pleasantly surprised! The pasta was perfectly cooked, the sauces were flavorful, and the portions were generous. I had the shrimp Alfredo and it was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. The ambiance was cozy and the staff checked in with us just enough—not too much, not too little. We ended the night with a shared tiramisu, which was the perfect balance of coffee and cream. “This place was a huge surprise and what honestly made our experience was Mario, our server! He was funny, attentive and helpful with the menu. It’s rare to find servers like Mario in the Boston eating scene and he made the experience what it was.

The lamb chops were my favorite, they were cooked perfectly medium rare, the spanakopita was top notch. All the food came piping hot which of course is always a plus.

There were a lot of great appetizer options and I wish I tried more!

“Came here for dinner on a Sunday night after a tiring day and the food hit the spot. I got the Hainanese chicken rice and watercress with spicy Malaysian shrimp paste. Food came out really fast (5 mins) and the staff were very attentive. The chicken rice itself was very good, but the chicken was slightly over cooked. Overall, it was good for the price. The watercress was surprisingly good - I haven’t had this dish in a long time, but it was a bit overpriced for a vegetable dish. It’s not spicy, but the shrimp paste adds a nice flavor. Was good overall, will come back if I’m ever craving Malaysian food and I’m looking forward to try the other dishes!“

Katie, the bartender, made one of the best lychee cocktails I’ve had — perfectly balanced and so refreshing. I also want to acknowledge Gary, the director of operations, who went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. It’s rare to find that level of hospitality. “Great seafood tower - creative crab abd dressed lobster. Crab pasta excellent. Best were the Isanbd Creek oysters and the discount with a purchased beverage - no brainer! We downed 18. A bit dark in the downstairs - wanted to sit upstairs but it was not open. But solid service and nice atmosphere - the star was definitely the fresh seafood. A bit pricey, but again - oysters on discount worth it!“

I do suggest getting a warm lobster roll and an 8 oz clam chowder. The 3 dollar markup for the warmth is worth it, but also questionable.

“Had the mussels and shrimp boil with potatoes, broccoli, and corn on the cob! Don't forget the mai tai and mojito! Everything was amazing! The service was friendly and fast!!“

“Wow. This is the kind of place where I’m sitting there thinking, “now this is 5 stars.”

It came to light because at some point we heard that 1) they had won a James Beard award (which is on display right up front), and 2) the Culurgiones (Sardinian stuffed pasta) were to die for.

When we arrived, we immediately appreciated the level of service provided - for example, our coats were taken and hung up. The wine menu is also authentic Italian - I ordered a Nebbiolo rosso.

As a party of two, we split an antipasto, a primo, and a secondo. First was an excellent burrata. Second was the famed Culurgiones (pictured) - so pillowy and tasty. Third was the roast half chicken. This was the best roasted chicken we’d had in quite a while. So juicy and well seasoned.

We finished with the tiramisu (tasty, well-presented, and bigger than we thought) and the cannoli (comes with two).

The atmosphere was lovely and so was our server, Paige.

“I booked an early dinner for my husband and I and two other couples. We were all walking towards Boston Common to see Commonwealth Shakespeare's production of As You Like It after dinner. The location of Blu is perfect for seeing theater in Boston. The food is always so good. My friends and I commented on how we enjoy having multiple options on the menu that we really want to try. And the service is consistently excellent. Lastly, the view is fabulous from the fourth floor. You can see right down Avery Street towards the Common.“
