“We stopped here on a whim from a google recommendation - it is a charming little restaurant tucked just off the highway. The food was great, and three free books with your meal?! I only wish we had more time to stay and explore. A true hidden gem!“
“The food here is amazing and the employees are super nice and friendly and they always try to get to know everyone and treat you like family. The place is very clean and well decorated and has a nice vibe to it, and this place is so popular that it's always full of nice people and sometimes you have to make reservation and what's great is they will call and let you know when there's the free spot in everything super amazing. I highly recommend you coming here and checking it out“
“My husband is disabled and they were quick to give us the closest booth available. Our waitress was really attentive and the foooooood!! I had duck two ways and it was amazing! My husband had a wonderful hanger steak that was delicious and surprisingly reasonably priced. We splurged on an express cocktail that was beyond good. We'll be back!!“
“While I may have a bias as a six year server at the Steaming Tender, I am truly blessed to be a part of our team. My fellow servers are genuinely friendly and eager to learn, each bringing their authentic personality and sense of professionalism to the table. Our bartenders mix and match with the best of them, whether you fancy one of our rotating local draft beers, a seasonally curated cocktail, or a classic mocktail for those lighter days, they'll prepare you a beverage that will hit the spot with finesse, know-how, and a great conversation. Our chefs are some of the hardest working people I know, consistently innovating and executing a complex array of well-crafted dishes. They can have a seemingly endless amount of orders coming into their kitchen and still put their hearts and souls into every diner's plate. And the best part is, our dishwashers work seamlessly behind the scenes, ensuring you needn't worry about a thing. Steaming Tender is fully family owned and operated and it shows. Our management values input, seeks new ways to expand and improve, and strive to create a positive work environment. Lastly, but certainly not least, the preservation of this historical landmark of Palmer keeps our rich American history alive. I truly believe H.H. Richardson and Frederick Law Olmsted would be proud. If you appreciate delicious food, delightful service, and a deep dive into local history I encourage you to choo-choo-choose the Steaming Tender.Vegetarian options: Seasonal salads, secret garden veggie burger, basil pomodoroDietary restrictions: Vegan options, gluten free options. Accommodating kitchen.Kid-friendliness: Kids will love watching the trains go by, the birthday song, and sitting in the shoe shine station. The patio in the summer time is always a wow moment as well. Be sure to check out the grounds filled with antique stagecoach, train memorabilia, and genuine 1915 Porter Locomotive.Wheelchair accessibility: Sloped area in the curbing next to the red dining car, beside handicap parking.“
“We took a girls trip to Sturbridge Village and the Sturbridge Coffee House was highly recommended by the hotel we stayed in. We all enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and delicious food! We also loved the local art, friendly staff, great gluten free options and smoothies! ❤️“
“Excellent place. Had a wonderful time at their fireplace feast. Tons of very good food. You will not leave hungry. Drinks were on the pricy side, but they pour generously and make very good drinks. Staff went out of their way to ensure every guest had a good time.Dietary restrictions: Staff go out of their way to make the meal fit your dietary needs. Had a person at our table with a dietary restriction and witnessed staff change out every portion of the meal that needed to be with a very appetizing substitute. Staff did a good job of making the substitutions without making a big deal of it.“
“Girly grills, delicious food narrowly Eclipse is the stellar service. A respectful nod to glorious Americana of the past, girly’s Grill brings joy to all who enter there! We enjoyed caramel apple french toast delectable enough to fight over, as well as strawberry waffles & homemade biscuits & gravy. Girly’s Grill is our family’s favorite new brunch spot!Parking: Tons of creative spots.Kid-friendliness: Girly’s gave us two coloring books and two packs of crayons for them. Extremely considerate and kind for all families!“
“We have frequented this restaurant in all of its iterations for nearly thirty years as a centralized meeting place to dine with family and/or friends living in the tri-state area. We have never been disappointed.Last evenings dining in our ‘miles for smiles tour’, took excellence to yet another level. Everything was perfect…the ambiance, cocktails, wines, appetizers, all four meals, which included duck, beef, seafood, and a pasta dishes were artfully plated, perfectly prepared, and flavorful. And, of course, followed by our favorite White Chocolate Mousse dessert. Our server, Lauren, is deserving of five stars of her own. An outstanding example of exemplary professional service, knowledgeable of the menu and the food preparation, wine list; an active listener with sharp memory, positive attitude, and sense of humor all wrapped in a beaming broad smile. She cared for our experience as if we were royalty, ensuring yet another memorable evening of dining. We will definitely arrange our next visit around an evening she is scheduled to work.Thank you keeping us smiling.“
“Even though Janines Frostie is more than an hour away, the drive is always worthwhile.Excellent food and ice cream, amiable service, and regular live music make this a fantastic stop for foodies on a day trip or weekend getaway. Janines will provide a wonderful treat to cap off your day, whether it's after a bike ride, a Sunday drive, a stroll through Quabbin, or just a trip to have ice cream with the kids. The menu offers a good selection of seafood dishes in addition to the more unusual pot roast poutine, corn dogs, sassy sow dogs, and hamburgers and hot dogs.“
“Oh man, Annie’s got me bad?The one time I started to have an unpleasant meal, was when the bus boy came out and started clearing my plates before I was done. Hell there was a good two slices of bacon left. I ripped the plate out of his hand and yelled at him so loud. Annie came out and apologized for his behavior, and gave me a complementary meal. Really appreciate that.“
“Two meals with cocktails $56 I don’t know where you can go and eat for two people with two cocktails for that price she had to fish and chips. She said they were good and I had the baked haddock with baked potato and broccoli. Very good meal. I had a whiskey and ginger and she had a beer. The owner come over and talk to us for five minutes nice man and thank us for coming in at least three timesWill be returning !!!“
“We just stopped by for lunch on a whim after seeing the name online. We had the best lunch experience! The owner is amazingly sweet, and makes a delicious sandwich! We loved the cute decorations and would absolutely recommend this place for a heartwarming handmade meal!!“
“Food and atmosphere are always great. Only downfall we got charged twice for a meal. We called a few times to get it resolved and it feels like we're being ignored so the issue isn't resolved but other than that, everything is great! Our friends recently moved to the area and we have been a few times now.“
“I had a Greek omelette and a grilled hard roll...absolutely amazing. The omlette was giant and stayed so hot until literally the very last bite! Our waitress (Holly) was amazing. Great sense of humor, quick to jump when we needed something. And we had to wave her down a few times.Sidenote: not an issue for me, but they do not take credit cards. However, venmo and cash app were accepted.“
“People are very friendly and kind the food was absolutely delicious four of us we all had different food and we all enjoyed every bit of itDietary restrictions: I'm deadly allergic to onions or anything in the onion family they made sure that all my food was 100% clear which thrilled me that's very difficult to come aboutParking: More than a sufficient amount of parking all very easyKid-friendliness: Great little kids menu outside picnic table sitting area so kids have room to moveWheelchair accessibility: Everything from parking to where you get your food is all ground level“
“Excellent on all counts, from server to atmosphere to food. In town for a NYE wedding, we wanted to enjoy dinner after an almost 5 hr drive and hotel check-in on Dec. 30. We called ahead, about 90 min. and the hostess fit us in at a small table for two. Sturbridge Porterhouse rivaled the best meals we have had. Shocked to find no porterhouse on the menu though! ?“
“Wanted fish but ran out of fish , so ordered cheeseburger and fried chicken dinner was v good ! Few years ago would always get grilled haddock (any day of the week) which was my husbands and my favorite not always available! Still like the service and atmosphere!“
“Excellent venue for the break of your fast ! Service was excellent! The timber frame construction with a train travelling around above us is a great distraction for kids ! My french toast was a little cold but otherwise the food was top shelf.“
“Food is very good. If your looking for a sit down place to eat with table cloths and wait staff taking your order. This place isn't what you are looking for. You order at a window then find a seat. The staff are nice . The food is very good with large portions. It does get loud in there but over all a good option for a family dinner.“
“Surprisingly tasty fare, served cafeteria style during the busy Christmas season weekend night. Recommended you dine a bit early. At 445 there was no line, but by 545 it was packed. The turkey and stuffing was great, but the pot roast was the best ever. Enjoy!“
“I’ve lived in boston all my life and recently just moved to Sturbridge. I regularly visit Teddy G’s for dinner and a cocktail … and I have to say .. the food is really good and tastes fresh … but the best experience is the guys at the bar … top notch h at what they do , Tony and Fran … I’m sure they other bartenders that work there on the days I’m not able to make are amazing also … but those two guys don’t miss a beat and keep the people entertained and happy … I’ll be visiting a lot more, now that I’m living in Sturbridge . Great spot to eat and have a drink .“
“I enjoy the pizza as takeout. The atmosphere for dine-in is very casual. I am a vegetarian and ordered the eggplant parmesan which I never would have guessed has a sauce which contains chicken broth. Luckily the waiter let me know and substituted it out with marinera.Vegetarian options: Make sure to ask first to make sure there is no chicken broth in the sauce of whatever you order.“
