Whenever I come in to pick up an order, she always takes the time to point out new vegan items on the menu, tell me about her plans, and even chat for a few minutes, all while she's prepping orders. The bread is famous for a reason. It's versatile and so comforting! “The prepared items from Judith's Kitchen are some of the healthiest and most delicious foods you will find anywhere and at such reasonable prices!! We are from out of state, but will return each time we are back to see my surgeon. I got a croissaint, bacon, scrambled egg and swiss cheese and let me tell you the sandwich did not disappoint. While I initially had to wait to place my order for something hot to complement my meal, a staff member soon noticed me and took my order. “A good North Shore-style roast beef sandwich on a toasted, sesame seed bun (Big Martys?), not soggy, thinly sliced. Ask for double horseradish sauce (or anything you want). Not fancy, an old-school hole in the wall, just quick and good. Limited seating, easy parking in front (small strip mall). Used to work nearby, and this was a regular for lunch. Stopped by recently and it's still the same.“

They had a good number of tickets, people walking in, and the other customers were getting annoyed, maybe not verbally, but the symphony of sighs spoke volumes. “No soup/sandwich shop compares in terms of price per quality, portion size, and different options in the area. I only started ordering from here about 2 weeks ago and I’ve now had 7 different kinds of soups and 4 different kinds of sandwiches - after the first order I started ordering two soups and a sandwich aka a soup to save for later because they’re just that good, every one of them. Price is so very reasonable and depending on which combo you get you can make out with a full sized sandwich and large sized homemade soup for ~$14.While it’s hard to recommend one thing over another in this circumstance since it’s all been great in their own ways, the Chicken Chowder is something I plan on getting a quart of next time it’s available. The Chicken Barley and Chicken Lemon Rice are ones I plan on getting quarts of in the future as well, and that’s not to discount the Chicken Noodle, Beef and Veg Noodle Stew, French Onion, and the current seasonal Chilled Gazpacha (which I probably wouldn’t have even tried it wasn’t from these guys). It’s all top quality.The Chicken Tarragon sandwich is my favorite in terms of sandwiches although it can’t combo with a soup as of now (please let us!). The best cheap soup combo sandwich is a tossup between the Cilantro Tuna and Ciabatta Sandwich, which are both incredible in their own ways.The only few drawbacks to this place are they don’t have every soup they make every day, are only open until 4PM, and aren’t open on the weekends. That said it’s worth it to plan accordingly for this. I never review anything but this place is worth it - it’s the best if you’re a soup and sandwich person like I am.“

The fried chicken sandwich of the month alternates between BBQ Ranch and OG Honey Mustard, and you can see the schedule on Cutty's website.I tried the OG Honey Mustard. I wasn't able to eat it until an hour later, but the chicken was still crispy and tasted fine re-toasted. The sesame brioche bun was soft and airy. The chicken was lightly peppered/seasoned and moist. The slaw and honey mustard sauce added a complementary sweetness. There was also Cabot sharp cheddar cheese, but I couldn’t really taste it.I don't think the amazingness of this sandwich amounts to the hype of being a once-a-month special, and $13.99 is a bit expensive. We were greeted with positive attitudes, and taken care of as if we were the only customers there. “We got there at close to closing, as we had been shopping all day and needed supper. I had told my bf how great Papa Ginos was and if it's open we need to go. (We are from Canada, but Papa Ginos has always been a stop in my visits)The lady working was soo friendly and turned out a pizza quickly. Crust was amazing, as was the sauce. “The subs are really good. The bread is soft baked. We got the steak and cheese, grilled chicken, and the Mediterranean with falafel in it. The highlight for me was the cinnamon bun though. It was one of the best cinnamon buns I've ever had store bought. Soft baked, nothing crispy or dry, generous amount of frosting. Could use more cinnamon sugar mix, but still, the best.“

“The irony is that all my companions tonight were not fans of either whiskey nor raw seafood, the two specialties of Citizen Public House, but thankfully all the other food and drink options were plentiful and very delicious! The spicy deep fried pickles were super addictive, the endive winter salad was so flavorful with a very nose-tingly horseradish dressing, cauliflower cream pan fried gnocchi was divine, and especially enjoyed the duck pot pie with root veggies. Our server was so charismatic, attentive and kind. Could not recommend coming here enough! And would love to come back and try their raw seafood bar :)“

“There was a version of the Lake that had a much different flavor 30 years ago. It was an Italian enclave, with a history that is very much different than the rest of Newton. Nonantum, or "The Lake," was the village with the oldest synagogue. It was right down the street from a Catholic church that, in my opinion, has an interior that has made me cry over the sheer artistic splendor of it.Tradition still plays a large part in this changing neighborhood, and it is finely displayed in this small sub shop on Watertown St. Like the old days, food prices were lower and food portions were a bit larger, and Guiseppe's does not try and overwhelm the customer with grandiose decor or expensive decorations, they are here to make you a sandwich or a salad.My honest recommendation is to go to Guiseppe's, and learn a little about the duality of this wonderful neighborhood. Sample the simpler part of the Lake and remember to leave a nice cash tip, because you're getting a lot of value out of the hard work of the owners!“

“I honestly can’t recommend this place anymore. They have a frequent customer punch card which once completed grants you a free sandwich. I went and redeemed my card and purchased 2 bags of chips and a Diet Coke. When I get to work I check my account and he charged me $11.77. I assume he forgot to give me my free sandwich and go back. He then goes on to tell me that the bags of chips are $2.50 each, he charged me another $2.50 because I asked for hot peppers on my sandwich. He then says the 20oz soda is $4.25… I know he arbitrarily made up these prices on the fly as I was obviously a frequent customer and none of this matches up to my previous purchases. If you don’t want people to get a free sandwich don’t have the card.“

Very generous portions, packed with fresh crispy lettuce, tomatoes and onions.
