The restaurant has friendly staff who are kind and very attentive. We also met one of the owners who is so nice and wants to make sure all customers are enjoying themselves. The food was delicious and the cocktails were a true craft. They are absolutely beautiful and taste delicious too. We had the banana soufflé, tiramisu pancakes, and fico pizza. “So glad I decided to stop here for dinner! The food was amazing!! We did wait around 45 minutes for our food to come, but it was worth the wait. Food is a little pricey, but again I think it's worth it. Our server only spoke Spanish so there was a language barrier between us, but she was also amazing. The ambiance is very authentic. Music is loud, food is good. No complaints.“

“One of the oldest locations in Salem. The Lyceum is famous for its' longevity, history, and right now food. We ate lunch there and sat in front of the fireplace. The venue was very laid back with an atmosphere of going back in time. There is an air of energy I cannot explain other than going there yourself and experiencing it. Even though I wasn't sitting on the bar side, I managed to walk around and just get a good eye-look. The food was excellent as well as the service. Our waitress made sure we were taken care of and we didn't have a need to worry about asking for anything. The host at the entrance made sure to ask us while we were dining how the food and service were. This is a place you should visit. A bit pricey, but hell, so is everything else now-a-days. Might as well get great service and good food.“

“This restaurant is amazing, my favorite in Boston. We loved the meatballs, ragu, the NY strip steak, the panna cotta, and the cocktails. The steak was cooked perfectly, the sauce and accompaniments really make the dish shine. The service is impeccable, with new dishes between each course, timely service, and all around professionalism. I’ve gotten the orchiette pasta before and this time it wasn’t as I remembered - it had a bit of a charred flavor. We mentioned this, and we had a replacement dish in no less than 90 seconds. Truly impressive! The manager, Tyler, is an absolute delight, and apologized personally. He also brought us a lovely wine pairing with our pana cotta desert, which also included a candle and congratulations card, as I was celebrating that evening. I feel you really cannot go wrong with this restaurant, everything is impeccable and so worth it.“

“When visiting a French restaurant expectations are high. The food tends to be exquisite and some dishes are here. The Foie Gras is amazing and so are all the deserts we tried. However the escargot which is something I always try at French restaurants was only ok.The service varies on who your server is as we had friends who came to the restaurant after we sat and we ordered before they even got their menus and yet they had their appetizers first. When looking for someone to call for a refill and even when we wanted the menus for desert, it is very difficult to catch anyone looking at your table as if each waiter will only look at their own table only. On the bright side they brought us water as soon as we sat and refilled it often. That is how I would get someone's attention...finish my water so someone could come by and I could ask for something. The place is very small and you will have to be a party of two and be lucky to get a table without a reservation, which is what happened with our friends..who came in a little after we sat and were hoping they could sit with us, but with such little space it seemed unlikely they would even be able to get a table but as they were asking a table for two was leaving. Its rather on the expensive side which can be understood with the quality of some of the dishes, however I would except everything to be great for these prices. Its a good place with potential to be great.“

There's limited street parking and I believe you are allowed to park in the lot by the grocery store. There's no sign saying otherwise. My friend parked there for the hour and a half we were there on a Saturday night and his car was still there.Edit from their website about parking: "There is plenty of street parking on BOTH sides of our street (Adams Street). There is additional parking on Garfield Street, just around the corner, as well as Wesley Street which is behind our building. “A notable destination for Mediterranean seafood fares in the heart of Back Bay.Recently took a visit for dinner. Set against a backdrop of a modern lounge vibe, complete with high ceilings, Porto seemed like an ideal spot for date nights. As advertised, their menu featured a blend of Italian pasta and Mediterranean seafood dishes. We started off our meal with the Crispy Calamari. It was a decent appetizer that aligned with the typical offerings of a modern Italian restaurant. Its seasoning was a tad overbearing, but it still set a nice tone for the meal. From their pasta selections, we opted for theWild Mushroom Mafalde and the Wild Boar Cocoa Pappardelle. The Pappardelle boasted a tender boar ragu with umami from Manchego, but it unfortunately suffered from a lack of cohesion. The pasta itself was slightly undercooked and lacked depth in flavor, failing to fully harmonize with the ragu. On the other hand, the Mafalde was enjoyable. The combination of garlic butter and Aleppo pepper introduced a welcomed acidity, and the interplay of textures between the al dente Mafalde and the succulent mushrooms was particularly satisfying. The highlight of the evening was the Seared Bronzino. Unlike many other Branzino dishes I've tried in Boston, which often fell flat in flavor, Porto’s rendition was masterfully-seasoned. Each bite struck a perfect balance between salinity and the sweet nuances of the squash purée.While Porto may not be the best Mediterranean spot in Back Bay, its seafood offerings, particularly the Seared Bronzino, make it worth a return visit. The pricing, given the quality and ambiance, also doesn’t feel too excessive. Recommend giving them a try if you’re looking for an upscale romantic venue with great food and atmosphere.Parking: Prudential public parking garage“

“We landed late a few weeks ago on our trip to Boston and were browsing the delivery apps for some late night pizza when we came across Pastoral and figured we give it a try when we saw the Chicken Parm pizza. We opted for the Chicken Parmesan and Margherita pizzas and the roasted garlic knot. The Chicken Parmesan was the star of the order for me. The chicken was perfectly fried and all the toppings were fresh and full of flavor, all on top of a wonderfully wood-fired crust. The Margherita pizza was perfectly cooked and full of flavor as well. I would honestly order both of these again if visiting again. The Garlic Knot on the other hand I would probably pass on. I am a garlic lover don't get me wrong, but this was a tad too much in my opinion. The dough itself was fairly thin and then it was loaded with probably 3 bulbs worth of garlic cloves. Just a bit too much in my opinion. All in all I would still recommend grabbing some pizzas here if ever in the area!“

It's small and very loud when it's busy, so be prepared for that. There was a wait and a group ahead of my husband and I when we went in on Saturday night. Not really the scene for us because we were more interested in the food than the bar. We ended up stopping in for lunch Sunday afternoon instead. Way more our speed, it was quiet with a few people in there having a drink and lunch. The service was fast, friendly and attentive. The gourmet grilled cheese is out of this world! We ordered corndogs as an app, then "La Femme" and "A Fig Deal" and shared them along with some cocktails. The sandwiches were messy and delicious and I will dream of them until I return to Salem again.“

“Last weekend, my partner and I decided to explore the much-raved-about Fuji at Ink Block in Boston's vibrant South End. Let me just say, the experience was nothing short of spectacular, surpassing our expectations in every possible way.We started with the Edamame Truffle Dumplings, which were absolutely divine, offering a burst of flavors that left us eagerly anticipating what was to come. For our main course, we opted for the Chef's Selection Sushi and the Black Cod Miso. Each sushi piece was a work of art, fresh and full of flavor, demonstrating the chef's skill and attention to detail. The Black Cod Miso was simply sublime, with the fish perfectly cooked, flaky, and infused with a delicate balance of sweetness and umami.“

“First of all, I can't believe we waited so long to go back to this place, since we live less than half a mile away. This is such a unique place in Chinatown, with very creative (and well made) cocktails and a menu for just about anyone's palate. After seeing a segment on TV, I really wanted to try the burger and it might be one of the top 5 burgers I've ever had (and I have had thousands). The Bao bun is just so good, as was the sauce and the pickles. Top it off with a side of duck fat fries and you have the perfect burger. We were there on a Monday night around 6:45 and the place was packed. The bar too. No pictures but I wish I had. Will definitely be back to try more of the menus.“

“It’s been a long time since I last dined here and it was just as amazing as I remember. We loved all of the food here—excellent and of a high caliber. We started with the oysters which were (I think) the best oysters I’ve ever had. They brought out bread afterwards with freshly scooped butter. Might be some of the best rolls and butter I’ve had too. The bread, lightly salted on top, was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The butter, which melts into the bread as you spread it, had notes of honey in it too adding an extra sweetness. Top tier. All of the entrees were stellar, and one thing I loved was how appropriate the portion sizes were. We finished everything and were content without being overly full. The steak was cooked and seasoned to perfection with mashed potatoes. The creamy carbonara was flavorful with the squash. The branzino was also cooked perfectly and came with tasty sides. And lastly the scallops had a great sauce and went well with the mushrooms. We tried the date cake and chocolate soufflé for dessert but it wasn’t anything crazy or over the top. They don’t have a pastry chef.Lastly I’ll comment on the decor as the vibe was quiet and nice with fun pictures hanging around. The back door is also connected to a speakeasy!“

“Very unassuming from the outside but very cool interior with a spacious dining room and large bar! We got there 2 minutes after they opened and I'm glad we did because by 1130 the place was packed! They gave us fair warning if we were going to have the spuflee pancakes then they are going to take a little time to cook and you should place orders for them as soon as you know. They weren't kidding as it was about 35 minutes from ordering until our dishes arrived but it was well worth the wait! Everything was absolutely delicious the fluffy pancakes soaked up all the strawberry creme freche making for a burst of flavor with every bite. Wonderful job team!“

“Visited based on some reviews we read online and it was even better than expected! Our server, Gabby, was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. After ordering our first cocktails off of the menu, we opted to have Gabby and the bartender create drinks based on our flavor profile. Service was amazing! Gabby really knocked it out of the park! Our group shared the charcuterie board, which had some unbelievably delicious cheeses, the Pow-Pow Shrimp, and the oysters. Everything was delicious. The ambiance is really cool. Deep red lighting and really cool decor. Very much the vibe we were looking for in a speakeasy. We had a great time and can't wait to go back!“

“Finding myself hungry in South Boston, I Googled vegan near me" and found Lulu Green. Well, one of my cats is named Lulu, so there I went. Little did I know how delicious the food is there. The vegan hot honey "chicken" sandwich was by far the best sandwich I've had in my entire life, so good that I immediately ordered another. Isn't that what one does when one gets the best sandwich ever? If "awesome" weren't so overused a word that it has lost any semblance of its original meaning, I would use it to describe this sandwich. You know how, when you take a bite from some new dish and you get hit with the sensation of something so delicious you just have to sit back in your seat and wish space-time would move more slowly just so you can savor the flavor longer? That's what eating this sandwich was like. It has a pesto ranch dressing and pickles that taste better than any pickles one might reasonably expect to exist in the known universe-- and I don't even particularly like pickles. Seriously, this sandwich will make you throb with ecstasy. Also, anyone who thinks vegan cheese can't be good hasn't tried its pesto pizza. I would also be remiss if I didn't mention the friendly service.“

Pinky's

Pinky's Cocktail Bar • $$
269 Newbury St, Boston - 10.6 miles

“I got to Pinky's on a cold Friday evening around 6, expecting the usual rush of after work folks, but surprisingly, it wasn't too crowded. The interior was aesthetically decorated, with just the right kind of lighting that allows for meaningful conversations at tables and the bar. The music choice was great in my opinion, thought at times it got too lively, which made it hard to resist bobbing my head to the music - distracting me from the conversations. The volume was another minor hiccup; it was louder than I would have liked and made it hard to hear others. The cocktails were priced at around $15 each which is pretty standard for the area. It feels extravagant, akin to spending one and a half Chipotle bowls on a single drink is brutal, but they were well-crafted. You'd expect nothing less for that price though, right? As for food, I got the brussels sprouts. There were decent but not as good as the drinks. They left a sharper than expected tang as an aftertaste, which was interesting but didn't quite hit the mark. I do wish they had a more roasted texture, but they were a bit soft. The service was straightforward and efficient. Nothing much to say to the good people that did great at their job. The experience was solidly good. It's the kind of outing you'd expect on Newbury - pricey, but you're paying for the ambiance, location, and vibes.“

“We were lucky enough to stop by right at the earlier start of lunch time and found there was nobody else there, while snow was gently falling, creating a kind of lovely atmosphere. (People did start coming in toward the end of our meal). The menu had a mix of some delicious sounding pancakes and breakfast, as well as typical lunch items.I got arrepas with chorizo. I loved the arrepa. It was crisped perfectly, but I think the chorizo would have been better chopped into small pieces instead of sliced because the casing was hard to chew through, and the pieces kept sliding out. It came with a side salad, which would have been delicious, but it came with a sesame dressing (which I dislike and that is completely my fault for not catching!!).My partner got a taco assortment and thought the pork was delicious, and the chicken was good, but felt the beef was a bit too tough. He did say that if he was to come back, he would absolutely get the pork tacos without a second thought. We each had a delicious drink, rims coated in cinnamon and served with a cookie. They also served complimentary chips and salsa, which were good!We would like to come back at different times and definitely plan to repeat. Don't snooze on this place!!“

Food is great, had the best bone marrow, and the foie gras is definitely recommendable. service is busy but good, atmosphere is great. The only thing is it was freezing and we both got sick. The backyard outdoor patio is still freezing though there are Mr heaters near the wall outlets. The heat wasn’t strong enough at all to cover the area. “Well done Smoke Shop, East Boston! I absolutely recommend it!I had lunch there today with two others. The food and service were excellent and the location is stunning! It was a sunny day so the sun was sparkling on the water :)) The restaurant is large enough to handle a crowd, yet intimate enough to enjoy it solo or as a couple. Between the three of us we ordered the Pitmaster Salad, Pulled Chicken Sandwich w/ Pit Beans, and the Pitmaster BBQ which includes two choices of meats and two choices of sides. I ordered the Burnt Ends and Pulled Chicken w/ Brussels Sprouts (w/ onion jam), and Zucchini Salad sides. The meats were cooked to perfection. It melted in your mouth and nothing was overly-sauced - just right! The Zucchini Salad was addicting. It had a nice dressing that added wonderful flavor to the salad. The Brussels Sprouts were tender and onion jam was the perfect compliment. If you're looking for a salad then the Pitmaster Salad is for you. It has a great balance of sweet and savory. It is great on its own or you can choose one of the meats as an add on... and you can never go wrong with their sandwiches. They are great anytime, anywhere! A big shout-out to Andy and Maria for making our afternoon so wonderful and memorable!“
