“Absolutely fantastic from beginning to end! The owner greeted us warmly and seated us, the atmosphere was fantastic, not too stuffy, prices were well worth what I got served! The food was best tacos I’ve ever had in my life!!! Every taco was a piece of art. We had in total 4 different kinds of tacos : the bierra ones (brisket) came with this dipping au jus that was succulent and delish. The fish tacos were perfect and moist as were the shrimp ones with cabbage and slaw red onion so good, the Carne Asada (sirloin) was my favorite! The appetizer of deconstructed street corn was everything you love and want on street corn without the mess! And lastly the flan- a good decent flan- not the best I’ve ever had but the tacos made up for it!
Also drinks were great. Get the spicy margherita but it IS spicy! Thank you for a warm and welcoming perfect night!“

The Tipsy Cowboy in Salem is definitely one of my favorite bars I’ve been to in the world! I had an amazing person named Misty and she really took care of me to make sure I always had a beverage in hand and felt as if I were home at all times in the night. “500 Ocean is a beautiful property with some amazing amenities. It is in a great location, surrounded by ocean views, restaurants and very accessible to the T, literally right below the building. My husband and I had a great experience living here and had rarely any issues. The main issue we had at move-in was addressed and we were even offered a small gift for the inconvenience. I love the maintenance staff and they are always so pleasant and helpful. One of my favorite parts of living here was having an in-house fitness coach/ personal trainer- Cienna Jade! She is so amazing to work with and has really helped me along my fitness journey. It was so convenient having her come to the 500 Ocean gym, which is one of the best gyms I've seen in an apartment home. She conducts 1 on 1 sessions and will literally work with you on scheduling a time that's convenient for you as well as offering group or couple sessions! Overall, very pleasant experience!“

“Went with my friends for dinner on a Saturday around 5pm and we were sat immediately (5 top). I got the tingly seasonal cocktail (cannot remember its name but it was delicious!) and tried the truffle burger, sweet potato fries, mac-n-cheese, chicken parm arancini, and nachos. Charming, smallish space with comfortable seating, a glass window onto vibrant Cabot Street, and art from local artists/artisans in the wall. There is a 6-seat bar, where our party of 6 sat, right in the middle of action and a great vantage for enjoying the making of the carefully crafted margaritas Mango? Spicy? Skinny? Classic? You have some wonderful choices. Or a coconut mojito with a toasted coconut rim? Our expert bartender Ernesto made each drink with thoughtful expertise, and they were delicious! These came with a mild salsa and perfectly crisp tortilla chips to munch on while perusing the exciting menu. We added the habanero sauce conveniently placed on the bar and livened the salsa up a bit (not everyone loves super spicy—but our party loved the heat!) The food is from a scratch kitchen, and it is delicious. We started with shared apps—the shrimp ceviche and the tuna tartare tostada—both fresh as can be and loaded with lime and chile flavors. We also split an order of tostones, that were of perfect consistency, light and fluffy almost, with a chipotle crema for dipping. Excellent choices for starters—all six of us had plenty, and we finished the plates. For entrees, two of us had veggie enchiladas mole, two had chicken enchiladas mole, and two had Birreria tacos. These plates came with rice and beans, which were silken smooth with perfect flavor of Latin spices. La Qchara blends the cuisines of Venezuela, Mexico, and Guatemala—and the menu represents each well. It's so nice to be able to choose from the best loved dishes from each unique land. On a street where you have many pre-theatre choices, La Qchara was a delight—we all knew we picked the perfect spot. Hospitality abounds, and the food and drinks are so satisfying. We only wish there was a La Qchara in Somerville—we'd be there every week!“

“We had a truly delightful experience at Pomona Cafe. The service was lovely, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere was so inviting and comfortable. The place has been lovingly remodeled and it feels like somewhere else. The handcrafted woodwork is beautiful and the high ceilings and large windows make the space feel airy and calm. The mussels and gambas (shrimp) were both beautifully cooked and we could have dunked a loaf of bread in each sauce. The salmon was bright and beautifully paired with perfectly cooked asparagus and spinach , the bolognese was also very good as well as the chicken limon. We shared a delicious and not-too-sweet pistachio cheesecake dessert that was very satisfying. The ONLY possible negative would be the bread. All of those delicious sauces need a worthy vehicle! We will definitely be going back.“

Yes, they can get busy, and that sometimes affects timing, but what restaurant today isn’t dealing with staffing challenges? What stood out to me is that many of the servers have been there a long time, and as someone who spent nearly 30 years in hospitality, that says a lot about the place.

Don’t let the star rating make your decision for you. Give this spot a shot, you probably won’t regret it. The Royal with Cheese is my go-to every time.“
