“We visited from out of state and felt so welcomed by the staff here. The Gal was working alone but still talked with us the entire time while she flipped dough by hand and made pizzas, calzones and subs. The calzones were huge and so delicious! Our Air bnb wasn’t ready for a couple of hours so she was nice enough to let us keep our luggage behind the counter so we didn’t have to it around. We will definitely be going back!“

Nice soft roll ,steak NOT chopped to oblivious gravel like other shops. This spot IS the spot for a steak and cheese . I'm gonna go back and try all the ol standards again done right. Kudos. Can't wait to try a simple hit dog. Believe it or not, people screw that up . But according to the reviews I've seen, they're done just right. “Review: A Confusing Experience on a Rainy Day

On a rainy day, I recently visited a local place called "Toasted Flats" with high hopes for a cozy meal, a warm drink, and a bit of respite from the dreary weather. While the coffee I ordered was soothing, my experience quickly became puzzling and frustrating.

I had ordered a toasted flatbread, something I was really looking forward to. However, to my surprise, the woman serving me informed me that I wasn’t allowed to eat my flatbread. I could drink my coffee, but apparently, eating my meal was not permitted. She mentioned that the establishment had been open for eight years, which made me wonder how a place could be licensed to sell food but somehow not allow customers to eat it.

At first I thought she was joking with me, quickly realized she was not.

The whole situation left me confused, as it seemed like a bizarre, contradictory policy. How can a place sell food, but then restrict your ability to consume it? It felt like a strange contradiction.

While I can appreciate a business's need for rules and regulations and licensing, this experience left me scratching my head. I won’t be rushing back anytime soon, and it certainly didn't leave me with the warm, welcoming feeling that a rainy day meal should. Maybe next time, I'll do more research and find a place that will let me eat my food in peace, rain or shine.“

When I tell you it was one of the most delicious subs I have ever had (and I am in my 50s). It was a good sized (medium) sub with great flavor and two sliced pickles inside with lots of cheese. I definitely have to try the Cheese steak next. Kudos to this place for taking common sub sandwiches to a much higher level.“

Best Italian ever, most delicious meatball sub, The bread was soft but with enough perfect crust making steak bomb the one I've searched for but never found since Keyser's closed so many years ago. “Okay, so the crux of this review is to thank the staff and the management at Saus for creating one of the coolest (and unexpected) “linger a while” environments in downtown. We are pedicab drivers. In the winter, when we come out, it is usually for short shifts that anchor themselves on Bruins and Celtics games. Most of our work riding pedicabs is during the in and out of the game, so the in-between is when we need to refuel and get warm. In the past we had a favorite coffee shop, but they reduced their hours during the pandemic and never returned to night hours. So winter pedicab riders had to adopt a new home for the mid-game “hiding and eating.” During the 2022-2023 winter, we adopted Saus. And we have not regretted it since! Okay, we can go on and on about the delicious fries and sauces. (Our favorite is the CHONKY-ASS CHICKEN NUGGETS and their unsung hero meal of the chicken sandwiches.) But as much as we love the poutine, we want to sing the praises of Saus for other reasons. The staff is proudly funky, fun, and casual. Not that kind of aloof, weird funky. They are GOOD at their jobs! And they have fun with each other. HUGE props to the management for encouraging this culture of “let the employees make their own vibe.” IT WORKS. The staff is friendly, chatty, and quick to remember us regulars. This kind of familiarity in such a touristy ;part of town is not just refreshing, it is heartwarming! So while we warm our butts before heading back into the cold for pedicab, Saus became one of our mid-game homes. Thanks for keeping such an awesome staff culture, and of course delicious food. And thanks for letting us linger and chatting us up. Come to Saus for the fries. Stay for the cool, casual vibe!“

“This place is excellent! How lucky am I to work so close to this shipping container. The bread is always so fresh and the sandwiches are scooby doo and shaggy sized large. I really wish they would come up with a rewards or point system for employees at the design center who come here almost daily. It’s for sure burning a hole in my pocket and I know that’s 100% my problem but a free sandwich after say maybe 10 purchased sandwiches would make a lot of sense in my opinion.“

They don’t skimp on the meat and you’re always filled up by the end of your meal. Additionally the flavor is just right, it’s hits every time. The only thing to be wary of is that they are cash only!
