“Ever since this bakery opened, its been a childhood destination where my family regularly collects our bread at. I personally have strong feelings about it and its only now that I write a review about it. If you are looking for some good bread, this is the spot for you. Especially, if you would like to help a mom and pop shop.“

“I will start with this, I love Rose Ave.

I came in today at 10am and was deciding on a drink I wasn’t sure I would like because it might be too sweet. The cashier was genuinely kind and reassuring, and told me that if I didn’t like it, I could always change it. That made me feel comfortable trying something new.

Unfortunately, the drink did end up being too sweet for me, so I went back to the barista to ask if I could switch it to something else. The response I got was honestly kind of a bummer. She sighed loudly, exchanged dirty looks with another barista. She also tried to convince me the other drink would be even sweeter, which wasn’t even true. It made me feel embarrassed for asking, especially after being told it would be okay to change it.

She wouldn’t even look at me when I went back to pick it up and tell her thank you….

I still love this place and will continue to come back, but this experience was a big reminder that customer service matters just as much.“

“No other bakery like Seylou. We travel in to the city every weekend to eat here. The staff is so kind and feels like an extension of our family. They’ve taken my child behind the scenes and shown him how grains are killed and bread is baked. I could not ask for a better community and diet staple.“

“Cookies are pretty decent, but their operation is slow as heck… don’t even think about going on a Saturday or Sunday or around any holiday if you hate lines and waiting. I mean this should be a cookie factory line, what are we doing!! I guess Georgetown cupcakes and other places in Georgetown have the same problem but still... They should also make the lemon cookie a permanent cookie! Their best cookie in my opinion, but it is seasonal.“

“It was my first time going to this place , the staff can try to be more welcoming and pleaseant and help they clients to order , I had to take my mask off to speak and let them know what i wanted and as i was ordering I felt like i was being rushed to order , the food was tasting but tge owner needs to change the way the food is charged , I was charge for each separate item this is not a place where you order yourself a complete meal for a full charge , the food was delicious but I would not go back and another turn off in the bakery area they had flies around the sweet bread .“

“Super adorable family-owned bakery -- they also have a great drink menu and sell some packaged Asian snacks and ice cream too. Everything I've ever ordered here has been delicious but some favorites include: their cream bun (which they fill with cream right when you order it so that it's as fresh as possible and doesn't make the bread soggy), their black sesame mochi bread, and red bean and mochi bread.“

“Besides delicious pastries, the best part of Boulangerie Christophe is the staff! Super friendly and kind to everyone who walks through the door. The gourmet sandwiches are a huge hit for my 15-year-old son too.“

“I love to try the best bakeries around the world and Bread Alley’s quality is definitely world class.

The harissa sourdough with black sesame crust was one of the best sourdoughs I’ve had in the US. Same for the almond croissant - insanely crunchy, buttery, not too sweet, with an almost custard like almond paste (devoured before we took a photo).“

“Not sure if they are under new ownership or changed their recipes but they have consistently had the freshest, tangiest sourdough loaves. Got one today and they were unable to slice it in store and it’s very dry and doesn’t have the usual sourdough texture. Bummer if this is indeed the new fresh baguette…“

And, I am a very picky coffee snob. Service is sometimes a little chaotic, but the staff is super friendly. Weekend mornings are insanely busy- a reflection of how good they are. Their treats are very good, I recommend the polish apple slices and brownies and I’ve not had a sandwich there yet that I didn’t enjoy. Prices are extremely reasonable for the quality. “I came across Creative Cakes, Inc. while searching for a bakery that could do a Chantilly cake for a military promotion ceremony. (For those unfamiliar, Chantilly cake is typically a light vanilla cake layered with whipped cream and fresh berries.) Whole Foods used to sell it in sheet form, but after they switched distributors they only offered round cakes, which didn’t work for our event.

When I reached out, the owner let me know they didn’t make a traditional Chantilly cake, but she was more than willing to work with me to create something similar. I’m really glad she did. The cake was such a hit that it was nearly gone before I could even get a slice. When I finally did, I was impressed: it captured the spirit of a Chantilly, was perfectly moist, not overly sweet, and packed with fresh berries. I’d absolutely recommend Creative Cakes and would order from them again.“

“Rolling Sloane did an amazing job on my daughter’s mermaid birthday cake!! She did a beautiful purple, pink and blue glitter frosting with adorable sugar cookie shells around the side and a mermaid tail sugar cookie for the top. It was exactly what my daughter wanted! On top of that, the cake was so good and we all fought over the last piece! Highly recommend a cake from Rolling Sloane!“

“Yesterday evening I last minute decided to go to this establishment a little too late not paying attention to their closing time. It is very rare that when you see a business closing that the people inside will pay you any mind. I would have been over excited if they had payed me attention and nothing else. The person at the desk not only acknowledged me but proceeded to ring up my order (which he didn’t have to do) beyond their closing hours. I think we all know what we go to this established for at this point but this person went above and beyond and helped me to walk away from here with a feeling that is rare in this day and age. I wish I knew his name but his attention to detail and customer service spoke volumes and left an impression. ✨“
