“The aroma alone proved worth the visit to this Central American inspired bakery, and then the display case presents fresh colorful options to tempt your eyes. My Spanish remains incapable of accurately naming many offerings but Churros and Turnovers looked, smelled, and tasted fresh when we at them. I will go back for more baked items and a specialty hot chocolate or coffee. Pay no attention to the negative Yelps where the writers apparently confuse different Latin American cuisines- go and follow your nose.“
“The food was good, but definitely not worth $57 a person on a Thursday night….We ordered four dishes (fermented cabbage toast, arancini, thai fried chicken, and scallop crudo) and had a drink each. Portions were small, even the “entrees.” Will not go back anytime soon for dinner. Our waiter was very nice though.*Came back over a year later for dinner because of an InKind Coupon. The $50 off $50 made the meal more worth it. But still expensive for what youre getting.“
“We walked by this place not really looking to eat but the exterior stopped us in our tracks. We looked in and saw all the pastries and decided to make a quick pit stop. We got a Pistachio Meringue Roulette to share. Mistake. Should have gotten one for myself. The flavors work perfectly together. I also got the Strawberry Matcha to wash it all down and I’m still thinking about it. Wish they would bottle that stuff!“
“Amazing croissants. So flakey and full of wonderful filling. A great value! The mango pannacotta was amazing! The value for the price was fantastic as well! I briefly met the owner. The sweetest person you will ever meet! If I lived in town, I would be here ALL THE TIME!“
“I visited the West End location with my husband while visiting DC and had a phenomenal experience. Aside from the food being absolutely to die for, the customer service is really what impressed me. At the register, we were greeted by an older black woman who was so kind to share suggestions and explain the menu to me despite being very busy. It truly made the ordering experience a breeze. My latte was delivered by a younger light skinned black male and I am not sure where he received his customer service training by but by far he’s got it down pat. After delivering my order he told me, “have a nice day, okay?” but it wasn’t just a pleasantry, it truly seemed like a genuine request. I am beyond impressed with the food, ambiance, and customer service provided!“
“Wow, I love this place and am counting down the days until my next visit! It's a good thing I don't live nearby or I would be here all the time! Pistachio croissant is amazing and coffee is on point! The staff is so wonderful too. Definitely pay them a visit if you can!“
“My beautiful grandson is in the NICU at the Children’s Hospital. Today as my daughter, her husband and grandmother arrived they were greeted with a delicious box lunch from your establishment. We’re not sure of the organization that gifted us this lunch so we say THANK YOU!“
“Very nice roadside farmer's market! Plenty of parking is available, and they offer fresh squeezed lemonade during warmer months. The market staff are very polite and there is something for everyone there. The fresh cut watermelon is out of this world delicious (and I'm not crazy about watermelon). They have sweets, salty snacks, jams/marmalade, meat/poultry, sauces/seasonings, drinks and cheese. Prices are pretty in-line for a market, so a little higher than a Target or Wal-Mart, but the experience shopping at Miller Farms is very nice.Highly recommend if you're in the area!“
“10/10.Very cozy place. You have to queue because it is always full. But I'm not surprised, since the food they make is incredible. The sandwiches left me speechless, to say they were good is a huge understatement. The hot chocolate they serve was also delicious. Ideal to warm up on cold days.I would definitely return to Washington just to have breakfast here.Great!!“
“Chocolate pistachio croissant - 5 stars. so good and will be returning for this. Any place that has pistachio pastries is a place for me. Morning bun - very flavorful (cardamom & lemon) but a bit too dry for me. 3 stars Espresso & tonic - I did not like this at all, and will definitely get a safer drink option next time. There was a line at 130pm which I was surprised about, but it moved very quickly and we had no trouble finding a seat. Cute place, will be returning!“
“Cute little coffee shop with the flakiest chocolate croissant I’ve ever had! Got there a few minutes after opening and picked up a still warm chocolate croissant, mango danish, and spinach feta danish? or croissant ?… can’t remember… Would definitely come back to try the other pastries !“
“This place is dangerously close to our place and my partner and I are obsessed. The raspberry and apricot cakes are unbelievably good--and I'm not even a fruity dessert gal. The chocolate cake is the best in DC and I'm dying to try the coconut almond one they have, but it's only for special order. Can't wait for the next occasion! Also, the woman who is usually behind the counter is always patient with me as I struggle to make my mind up about which slice to order every time! I <3 Sharbat!!“
“The selection is limited, but their breads are incredible. The cranberry walnut bread is the same bread found at le diplomate. My favorite bread is the black sesame harissa. Expect to wait in line. Only about three people fit in the store at a time, but it’s worth it.“
“Upon entering the facility, I was showing my mom what cookies were available for the week, waiting for the kiosk when one of the employees asked if we would like help. They took our order and showed us the beautiful cookies. I had a jammy heart cookie that was sweet and delicious!“
“I got the chocolate croissant, and was really surprised when I realized it was a whole wheat croissant. The first whole wheat croissant I've ever had, and it really adds a nice nutty flavor to the croissant. The texture of the inside is also a bit chewier than your average croissant, with a lovely crisp on the outside. I just wish there was a bit more chocolate, but the croissant itself was wonderful, and I'm super glad I got to try the whole wheat. I also got a cortado, which was just ok. This is definitely a bakery first, so would highly recommend stopping by and grabbing some of the pastries!“
“I look this place and wish the chain opened in NYC. They've got good coffee, good baled goods, a bright energetic interior, and a wonderful lunch menu. Fast casual so no table service you order up front and they give you a number. Someone brings the food to you when its ready. Its never a bad idea to stop here.“
“A great, casual, local cafe and bakery with amazing pastries. We keep trying new things on the menu every time we go and everything so far has been delicious. There are good savoury and sweet options such as the smoked salmon croissant and the brioche donut. You can also grab whole cakes and small gifts if you’re entertaining at home. The staff have always been friendly and helpful whenever we have been there. The cafe has a laidback atmosphere - I often see people working or catching up in there.“
“Really great food - they have really yummy breakfast sandwiches which are always hot off the panini press. They have just really great baked goods too, beautiful cakes and cupcakes and then also traditional bakery items like croissants, cookies, etc - which are all insanely delicious. I think I've tried about everything from Buzz at this point and can say the food and coffee is fantastic. It's also a really great work environment so I come here to work from my laptop pretty often. The tables in the back facing the entrance are great - there is great lighting there for zoom meetings and it's never too loud in there.“
“I know what you're thinking: this is a a coffee bar located in the lobby of an apartment building. It can't be that great, can it? Well, you would be wrong. This is my neighborhood coffee spot and I have been here so many times I've lost count. The coffee you get here is consistently well made. I haven't had everything on the menu, but the breakfast items (pastries and made-to-order dishes) are top notch. The funfetti cookie and classic breakfast sandwich deserve special mention. The front of house staff are incredibly nice and usually down to chat as much or as little as you'd like as they make your drink. Even better, this is now one of the first locally owned and operated coffee shops in the DC area where the workers have come together to bargain and set standards for their working conditions with management. It's well known that union-made coffee inherently tastes better because you know that baristas have power and a voice when management inevitably starts to cut corners and prioritize the profits of their budding coffee empire over the health and safety of their employees. (I don't know the owners, I just know how incentives work.) So sip in solidarity, my friends! If the quality declines here it'll be because management has decided to cultivate a hostile work environment to try and undermine the solidarity and hope it's employees have worked so hard to build.“
“Due to the rave reviews, my husband and I stopped to check out this place before getting back to our state. I'm not a coffee drinker, but am learning about coffee and most, I do not like. It is true! Our café lattes are delicious and very smooth! This is one of only two coffee shops where I would return.“
“Expensive Pastrys and expensive Coffee great Place to hang out if your going to Law School... Managers and Staff are polite.. Service is Good they Have Breakfast there the place is Busy and it's of a Major intersection in Washington D.C 4 Blocks Over near the Capital.... Everything Taste Good... And the Bathrooms are very Clean... Place is Run correctly with Nice and Attractive People..“
“We were staying in the area for a few days and stopped here twice, once for pretzels and the second time for the breakfast sliders. Both equally delicious! Definitely could eat a breakfast slider every morning. Staff was friendly. Service quick.“
“I tried this place via a neighbor's recommendation and it was sooo good. The cupcakes are fresh and moist and a really good size for the price. The buttercream is not overly sweet, but still sweet enough. These are literally my favorite cupcakes ever. The shop is in a great location with cute decor and friendly staff. The inside feels pretty instagrammable this time of year (cherry blossoms make the prettiest backdrop!).“
“Enjoyed the breads and desserts that were bought. My Daughter is a GF from wheat allergies. They're are alot of bad GF breads out there but rise had there combinations of flours and other ingredients down. Everything tasted like their gluten counterparts there creating. Just wish there was a way to make a croissant, flaky like an original croissant. 5☆ for this bakery“
“The food is scrumptious I would eat it any day of the week, It was great loved it. The service was amazing the guy who was serving me was super nice, he was awesome. There was also a nice cozy space in the room, that I loved. My experience there was just great I’d say 10/10 once again it was just awesome.“
“Lavender Moon has been my go-to spot for cupcakes since 2013. There’s something about their cupcakes that are so different that it makes you want to keep returning. Maybe it’s the texture of the cupcake or maybe the unique flavors they offer, but one thing I do know for sure is that they use very good ingredients. You can literally taste the difference. They have a few staple flavors like vanilla bean with lemon curd that you can never go wrong with. However, I always try something unique like pistachio cherry or chocolate bourbon. Sure, I like some flavors better than other but I’ve never had a cupcake I could complain about from them.I would consider this place a boutique cupcake place since their flavors as well their interior design is unique and quite whimsical. The staff are nice but I think they may be nicer to regulars than new customers from my observation and input from my friends when they pick up an order for me. It’s a small place so I wouldn’t suggest bringing a large group here unless it is for take-out.Cupcakes are a priced fairly but definitely way more expensive than the ones you buy premade at the grocery store… but you’re paying for high quality ingredients and the taste is 100 times better. I can’t ever complain about their prices because it is simply worth it.Dietary restrictions: They also have gluten-free cupcakes.Parking: Parking can be a bit tricky if you’re looking for something for free- but it’s Old Town Alexandria so it’s to be expected.Kid-friendliness: I’ve seen parents bring their kids here for cupcakes and it’s always so cute to see their faces light up when they see that they have so many flavors to choose from.“
“Best bakery in dc!!Tried a cinnamon roll with icing and it was delicious. Spinach and feta crossisant was super tasty and so was chocolate espresso cookie. Also got a vanilla oat milk iced coffee and it was very good. Super nice staff and very fast service. Great prices.“
“We are so glad to see this cafe do well in our neighborhood. I believe in cafes in every neighborhood. We walk our dog every morning and grab hot chocolate and coffee when we walk by this place. They have recently redid their interiors. Looks much spacious now and very welcoming. With my drinks, I often get their samosa or spinach puffs. It's so good. For lunch, my go to is their Ethiopian combo. They have 5 different veggies and recently added meat as well. Absolutely delicious! Depending on how busy they are, expect to wait for the Ethiopian entree. Worth it.“
“Loved the ice cream. It was extremely good. The dessert is well worth its price. The people are super friendly, the place is clean and organized. I enjoyed the friendly and welcoming atmosphere this place gave me and my friends. I encourage you to come buy some of this Gelato and ice cream.“
“Whenever I have a few minutes to step away from my desk, I step here. I'm an iced tea addict and a big fan of cookies, and they have both - of delightful quality, and handed to me in seconds. Sometimes on weekends, I'll come into the city just to get my fix.As an added bonus, their logo's unapologetic eyewear makes me feel 'seen' :)“
“I found Sweet Almond at a wedding expo but used her services for a corporate event and she didn't disappoint. I ordered a variety of macarons and Leah was great to work with from the beginning! She was very responsive, accommodating, and even dropped of my order early. She's also so sweet and wonderful to work with. Her macarons were soo good and everyone also loved them. I will definitely be ordering from her again!“
“Whenever you're in the area and are in the mood for some moist, warm and buttery snickerdoodle cookies visit Heaven's Bakery in Forestville Mall. They have ample parking, and closest to the entrance. You won't be disappointed. Go and check them out!! They've been in business since I was a kid so they're doing something right.“
“Coffee lover here (and, no not Starbucks or dunkin kind). Wydown was AMAZING! Their house made mocha syrup and lavender syrup were perfect, not too sweet either!!The blackberry and lavender scone was DELICIOUS!!!The environment was also calming and inviting. Seats along the windows were perfect to get some sun and enjoy a cup of coffee.“
“Stumbled upon this cute bakery. It was bustling on a Saturday morning. I love all the countertop/bar seating, makes for a charming aesthetic. We sat on the patio and really enjoyed it. We only got coffee and a few baked goods (ham & cheese croissant which definitely surpassed our expectations and a cinnamon pecan rose which we would also get again) There were many other options & we’d definitely come back to try other items. The regular latte was 5/5, the black coffee was average and we’d probably not opt to order that again.“
“Not go, run to this place.Originally I was looking for some cafe to sit, work a bit and relax before my train.Found this place that has happy hours for wine and beer. Got myself Spanish lager and they also had Czech lager.I love the atmosphere of The Ministry, everyone is super friendly and relaxed.Ended up sitting, drinking and chatting there until it closed and I rushed to get my train back home LOL“
“DaVina was just splendid, vibrant, funny & oh so pleasant as the day is Sunny! Love her personality, & my Almost 90% Vegan Wrap Panini with Extra mushrooms was Sooooooo Good! The cherry on top was the Non - Dairy vanilla creme topped with dark chocolate drizzle!!! YUMMMMM!! ????????????DaVina is Passionate about what she does, who she serves & where she works!!! DC Sweet Potatoe Cake is a quaint laid back cafe!! The home of The Famous Sweet Potatoe Cake cupcakes!!! Stop by & get yours today!“
“I am very picky about my desserts. I've tried a lot more than most people, so I only like the best. I ordered a red velvet cake for my bf's birthday and it is the best red velvet cake we've found locally. The icing was sweet, but not too sweet, and the cake was moist and delicious. I really appreciated that the red velvet wasn't just red plain cake, but actually had a hint of chocolate like red velvet should. The cake to icing ratio was also good. The cake appearance is like a home bakery, so I went in with the expectation of it being like that. In the end taste is king. I will note we had a small snafu with pick-up, but Timmy followed up with communication which I appreciated. It's nothing that would prevent me from trying Timmy's again for some other cakes.“
“My husband and I stopped in for a quick bite for breakfast. Such a comfy spot that we actually stayed longer than anticipated. The atmosphere is so beautiful, clean and inviting. My husband had the bacon, egg & cheese biscuit with sweet pepper jelly. He described it as “gratifying and delicious “. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Truly service with a smile!!! Next time we’re in DC, we’ll definitely stop by again“
“date of visit: Wed Aug 23, 2023 After walking through the city -we felt we deserved a sweet treat. We stopped into Larry's ice cream to satisfy our sweet tooth. Larry's is a small ice cream parlour on the lower level of a building. if you arent paying attention, you might miss it. The flavours of ice cream were very unique - i had never seen anything like this before. Obviously this is a small batch, hand-crafted artisinal ice cream. Oatmeal cook dough, Ginger (Peach, Brandy, Ginger) Pistachio , cardamom almond, and many others. We ordered a double scoop in a waffle cone. THe flavours were very good and quite unique. We enjoyed the ice cream very much. Quality ingredients, top notch flavours, and hand made - these things are worth paying a premium price for. The portions are a little smaller than you might get at some ice cream shops - but NOT compared to the big BR ice cream.“
“Seriously the best hand pie I have ever had!!! The crust was so delicious and flaky. Muffins are full of flavor and just the right size! To top it off it is the most affordable breakfast in town. Definitely a must stop in D.C. for breakfast. Plus the staff is super kind and dedicated to their work. 5++++ stars!“
“Awesome restaurant with a great selection of food. Atmosphere is nice as well. The food is amazing from the soups to pastries. Everything is mad from scratch I finally got to try a turkey club sandwich being that it's all turkey products. I also order the grilled salmon greens and yams. I tired the beans soup was phenomenal. My take home order was curry chicken salad 1/2lb, side of yams, mac n cheese. The sweetpotatie pie, bean pie & strawberry cheese cake was the desert taken home. This is a must try establishment very class service is amazing and heartfelt you can tell the food is cooked with love!!!! I'll be back“
“I was on a real quick trip from Quebec to Washington DC and back, only half day in Washington and only one evening and one morning.First time in Washington DC.Great place to have a delicious fresh breakfast! The cappuccino was beautiful and tasty!I bought some of their most famous desserts for bringing back in Canada. They were all very good too.“
“There are some hard-working and talented ladies behind that window of beautiful deliciousness. And it shows! Everything was phenomenal. 100% worth the wait in the weekend rush, too! I had the chorizo, the rosemary-fig tart, and the peach-sesame kouign-amann. Life-changing. Every bite. After a bite of their kouign-amann, I threw away the (more expensive) quiche/pastry I'd grabbed from Eastern Market and replaced them with Souk's. Serious upgrade.“
“Amazing amazing amazing cakes and cupcakes !LA Custom Cakes designed my birthday “heart “cake and it was nothing short of AMAZING . The color of the cake , the design of the cake , and the TASTE of the cake was spot on ! I will be booking again with her for my son’s birthday party . Thank you so much !“
“We stopped here for lunch because it was dog friendly, but that's only outside on the patio so thankfully we found a small table available. We ordered at the counter and they gave us a marker so they could bring the food to us. I ordered the Brussels sprout salad and added falafel. This salad was so amazingly delicious. I love roasted Brussels sprouts, and this hit the spot and was surprisingly filling. However, I wish there had been some other items in there to add some variety to the dish. My husband got the southwest salad and that came with chicken chorizo, black beans, cheese and avocado and he enjoyed it and it was also very filling. Very good and would recommend this restaurant.“
“Currently addicted to the enchiladas with green salsa, though the red is fantastic as well. The bean burrito is a must try, and their refries beans and rice are perfect. Prices are so reasonable, especially for the area and to go orders are made super quickly!“
“Maman is very tasty and I love coming here but.. this happened. Needless to say I was a little disappointed I had to fight my food today in a dangerous way. Unfortunately, my turned my sandwich turned into a salad. The salad was mid, I’m sure it would have been better as a sandwich lol. Please don’t do this anymore Maman.“
“Outstanding customer service. And to tell you the truth, would you believe? This place has been in business for over 30 years. Still looks the same. You remember when Doctor petcenter was downstairs? And our dogs would escape and run all over the place. Great place Worth every penny!!“
“I stumbled upon the new location at Tanger Outlet. The Nana pudding cheesecake was recommended. It was good. It's a bit pricey. I'd like to try the pecan cheesecake. In terms of atmosphere, it's like a carryout situation because of the location. The decor was cute.“
“Fourk’d is the absolute GEM of Padgett’s Corner. The food was AMAZING. If you like salty, greasy and bland food in minuscule portions: YOU WON’T FIND ANY OF THOSE HERE @ FOURK’D. Today was my first visit, and after my last bite, I’m going to slap everybody’s Mama? You’ve been duly notified. You’re gonnaL?VE this!!!“
