“The moment you step in, you’re immediately hit with the smell of fresh goods! Such a wide variety of nostalgic Hispanic treats like conchas and tres leches. Bread is fantastic and is amazing fresh. Definitely recommend to those in the area ❤️”

“I almost don't want to share because then the lines will be too long when I go lol. But this is the spot to pick up your crabs and enjoy at home. Seasoning on the side please!”
“This is where we need to go! Small business owners who make genuine food from the heart. I had the opportunity to meet the wonderful owner Ruby. She was a gem. And she has a gem that she serves to the community. I appreciated that she gave me a moment to speak while it was slow to share the history of where she came and where her and her team are going. This is a fairly new business, has not been open for more than a year. To everyone in the community far and wide. Whether you're black, Latino, native, blue, orange, or however you identify, it doesn't matter! Come and enjoy this soulful food. She was so welcoming and the warm welcome and how she explained the dishes to me, delivered an experience that I will never forget. I wish her and her team much success ??.Now, into the food -Pupusas (chicken and cheese) -10/10Coleslaw- 9/10 (It's new for me. But I like it. Need to try more.Plantains - 8/10 (Everyone likes plantains different. So I'm sure they'd be a 10/10 if I'd communicated that I like them fried hard.Yuka w/meat and coleslaw- 10/10! Wow! I have never had this dish before but the flavors. The seasoning to perfection.Overall - Maria's is more than pupusas. There's some history, there are always stories, and there is plethora of food. On the weekends, this spot is said to have over 400-600 patrons that come out to enjoy the food, the atmosphere and the service. This business also does catering.(I was not paid for this review. I walked in curiously after being served old food from the sub China shop across the street and had to throw the food away. And Maria's stood out like a bright light into a new dimension. And what wonderful things I got to see. And a beautiful person I got to meet.)”

“I felt like some Dominican food specifically, chicharron de pollo (fried chicken) and tostones (fried plantains). The food was delicious and plentiful. It's in a strip mall and has an adjoining lounge which may double as a dance floor.”

“I will say my first visit was decent with Kia and her service skills are absolutely fun while being helpful. I did not get the round ball that I ordered but I came out with a lot of food and drinks. However the LARGE Oxtails was very lacking on amount vs the price point and plantain is a separate purchase instead of a few pieces on the meal. The Akee and Saltfish had 2 or 3 dumpling underneath so very little ackee and Saltfish for that price. The Jerk Mac and cheese was on the almost stale side. I wasn't fond of their brand of Sorrel as it had a weird after taste. Didn't like either the fruit nor the other rum cake but those are not their fault as they are prepackaged options. The gentleman there was helpful in packing my huge order but sadly I won't be returning. Money spent there vs value was very lacking.
Parking: Decent amount of parking shared with other businesses in the strip shopping center”

“Great bang for your buck. I recommend the teriyaki chicken and shrimp, but I do not recommend the spicy Korean pork. The fried rice is super good, I have ordered just that for a meal and been satisfied.”

“Finding a Filipino restaurant isn’t easy. So learning about Purple Patch thru Jo Koy—has ended this search! Literally, Filipino cuisine heaven! The restaurant is uniquely decorated, the staff were friendly, & the food hit that major comfort button for us! Thank you Zahara for being so sweet & a wonderful waitress. We can’t wait to come back for more!”

“We went for the summer restaurant week. You get a cold and a hot appetizer, assortment of sushi and a dessert. We opted for the soft shell crab and shabu shabu ramen, both were delicious and served hot out of the kitchen. Sushi is top quality and decadent of course. Hojicha pudding is uniquely toasty and silky.
Not all RW deals are worth going, but I’d recommend the selection at sushi taro for the quality and the value of the food.”

“Such a superb dining experience. I was solo so sat at bar and my waiter went above and beyond with exceptional wine and food knowledge and service. The food was subtle, creative and beautifully balanced. Everything just worked. I find US restaurants rarely have ambiance but Tail Up had great lighting even if dining room was fine but unremarkable. It was a brilliant experience of a brilliant kitchen, sommelier and serving team. Thanks for a DC highlight”

“Albi is exceptional! Such a great evening with amazing food. The only, and very small, issue we had was the volume in the restaurant. We had a hard time hearing the server a few times. Nonetheless the food was fantastic and the wine pairing really topped the evening off.”

“Wow! Probably one of my new favorite spots in DC! Literally everything we tried was phenomenal - and I think these are the best fries I've had in DC! I got Madam VP Heritage, and my husband got the Mumbai Mariachi. Our kids got the Classique Grilled Cheese, which was delicious (I want to know what bread they used) and perfectly balanced with the ham and Swiss. We finished our meal with the alfajores, which I didn't get a photo of because we gobbled them up. But I was incredibly impressed with the food and service. Reasonably priced (especially for where it's located), bright and airy. It is a bit small, so it would be difficult to accommodate a large group, but there's plenty of seating, and there were several folks here reading and just hanging out on a Friday mid day. I can't recommend this spot enough - as a gastroadvocacy spot, it was already intriguing enough, and the diverse (and changing) menu is exceptionally executed! Excited to come back and try more things on the menu - with a side of fries!
Vegetarian options: There are very clearly labeled vegetarian and vegan options. It's not an extensive selection, but they are delicious!
Parking: It's definitely in a difficult area to find parking since it's in the heart of the city and close to many tourist attractions.
Kid-friendliness: There is no kids menu, but it's reasonably kid friendly otherwise. Our kids really enjoyed the grilled cheese and fries and cookies. May not be suitable for children who are very picky.”
