“Only way to describe this place is a hidden gem or "hole in the wall" because it's a nice clean small "mom and pop" style restaurant with convenient hours and delicious food. Will definitely be returning here.
Kid-friendliness: Kids menu available.“

“We had an early dinner before attending a performance at the Ford’s Theater. We made reservations through Open Table and were immediately seated upon arrival. The service was great. Our server recommended several dishes that we loved. There were abundant vegan and vegetarian options. Chilorio de Res tacos were mouthwatering as were the Hongos en Milto ones. In fact, every dish we ordered was delicious. One dish (chilaquiles) never arrived from the kitchen but we were pressed for time so we opted to have it taken off our bill instead of waiting for them to prepare it separately. Dessert, Cafe de Olla, was phenomenal. Pics are only some of the items we tried. Great atmosphere for date night and a milestone birthday celebration. Highly recommend.“

“🥂✨ Brunch...still thinking about the unreal brunch experience we had this weekend! From the moment we walked in, the vibe was electric—bright, welcoming, and full of energy. The place was buzzing with laughter and clinking glasses.
The drinks were next level, especially the signature brunch cocktails. Every sip was a treat.
And the food? Absolutely spectacular. Perfectly plated, bursting with flavor, and made with so much care. Whether it was sweet, savory, or somewhere in between, every dish was a hit.
What stood out the most was the atmosphere—entertaining, engaging, and filled with good vibes. People weren’t just eating brunch—they were experiencing it. And you could tell the owners take serious pride in their space. From the service to the decor to the playlist, everything was done with intention.
If you’re looking for a place that serves more than just a meal—but a moment—this is it. You can see why you need a reservation.“

“Everything about this place was A++. Not sure how this place has not come up for me or my husband before but came here Tuesday night and we’re officially deeming this our go to spot. Everything was delicious and legitimately the best Mexican restaurant in DC and the best Margaritas in town.
1. The fajitas (chorizo, chicken, steak) had amazing flavor including the side of refried beans, steak was tender, didn’t skimp you on the veggies.
2. The chicken tamales did not disappoint - you can tell they care about their masa, and the chicken inside was juicy, not dry like many places.
3. The frozen margaritas were freshly made it isn’t just a bunch of syrup. I actually wasn’t going to get one but Oscar put my concerns at ease and pointed out it was still happy hour.
Such a relief to find a spot where you can count on food being delicious, where the vibe is chill and the people are great! Thank you Oscar, Diego, and Chris!“

“I went to District Taco at the recommendation of a friend, and it did not disappoint. The menu has a variety of options to choose from, and luckily one of the staff there, Eimy, was really helpful with recommending what's most popular, as well as what she's personally grown to love. I'd definitely say I left satisfied. The vibes were good my whole time there, and there was very little wait time. I'll be going back and sharing it with those I know. Shout-out Emiy again, she hooked me up.“

“When I forget to bring lunch to work, District Taco is usually the first place that pops into mind. I always get their bowl with black beans with the cabbage topping. What really makes their bowl special is that I can add potatoes! It is a little addition that makes the meal really hardy and keeps me full until dinner. Like many places, you order on a screen, and they will call out when your food is ready.“

“Just returned from a visit to Mexico, and had dinner at La Vida which brings some of the greatest MX ambience to DC. The food in MX is so varied and La Vida echos that. Very tasty tacos with seafood and beef for two of us and black mole on quesadillas for another guest, with a huge selection of drinks to go along. We will definitely be back to savor much more of the wonderfully promising menu!“

“Dining in DC, is paying for ambiance. Pascual was a wonderful ambiance in learning the finer elements of Mexican cuisine.
NO SALSA IN CHIPS
Guacamole was tasty but it wasn't until I built the perfect bite with the braised lamb neck did I appreciate the understatement of its balance. My friend very much enjoyed her Octopus, she got crispy she'll to accompany her dish.
The bunuelo was a nice finish, but there was the option of flan w/chocolate. The flan was good but had bitters from dark chocolate that gave the taste of espresso.
I would not dine here again personally, but it makes for a really nice backdrop of a lovely dinner.
Vegetarian options: Seafood allergy, a lot of possible cross contamination, limits your choices. However the choices are still very delicious.“

“The chicken mole California burrito was really really good - specifically the tortilla and the mole and beans. Everything tasted homemade and delicious. The carnitas super burrito was also really well made and the guacamole was good.
The cold brew was the best cold brew I’ve tried (I’ve had about 10) - it was really chocolatey and delicious.
The reasons for 4 stars is that I didn’t like how the portions were a bit small for the price. The chips and guac was $12 and seemed to involve about 1 or 2 avocados.
The burritos were filling - appreciated and needed the salsa verde that came with them! But still a bit pricy.
These views might also be influenced by the fact I felt pressured by the card machine at the register to tip more than 20% before the food came. The first screen that pops up when paying has only 3 suggested tips: 25, 22, and 20% - the highest I’ve seen on one of these apps. In total it came to $63 for 2 burritos, 1 chips and guac, and 2 cold brew coffees including tip which feels very expensive. We also were accosted by wasps on the patio that tried to get into our food, so that’s a reason for the 4 star atmosphere.
Nevertheless I would recommend this place - if you’re not worried about the price and savvy enough to tip appropriately/not accidentally.
I am confident they are some of the best burritos you can get in the area, and cold brew!“

“After moving from Florida I have been tirelessly searching for a good taco place in Maryland. I was so happy to find Tacos A La Madre! When you go inside it is very under decorated, but clean and they have a good sense of branding with their black and yellow color scheme. The tacos are amazing, flavorful, and consistent every time I go. The ingredients taste fresh. If I had to choose a favorite, it would be the shrimp tacos and the birria tacos! 🌮 This is our new go-to taco place. You have to go- you won’t be disappointed.“

“Happy hour on a Friday night during a busy weekend in DC, the staff took the time to accommodate a group of 13 hungry, thirsty people. I can't speak highly enough of their can-do attitude to let us sit together. The drinks and food were delicious.“

“We had a great dinner before our night out. The upstairs patio overlooking the Wharf has a stunning view. Drinks were good, food was tasty, lots of different portion sizes in case you want to share with friends. I'm very picky about mole but this Texican vouches for it! The service was very good, very attentive, will return“

“Enjoyed this place but looks like it may have closed down. Margaritas and tacos were excellent. Don’t think the neighborhood took to it like El Chucho’s bar scene. Tough location near Monroe St as it’s on the edge of 11th where the Coupe is king.“

“I am sure Korean food is the best when tasted in Korea. That's why I'm not a big fan of Korean restaurants abroad. However this one, Rice Bar in DC satisfied me for real. 다만 제 느낌에 1회용 숫가락이 좀더 크면 좋겠고 젓가락에 일본어 적힌 점이 아쉽.. 그래도 또 들리고 싶네요.“

“This was a small, authentic Mexican restaurant and it was AMAZING! Best tacos I think I’ve ever had. Never been a fan of corn tortillas but this place converted me. You order at the counter and they serve you. We had a large order (6 people) and they got the entire order 100% correct. Service was super fast, food was delicious and look at the beautiful clay “mugs” our drinks came in! I sadly don’t get down to this area often but it I ever did, I would definitely visit again!“

“We came excitedly to try some Salvadoran cuisine and arrived close to the end of lunch service, so the atmosphere was very quiet. The establishment is rather dark inside. Service was quick, and they offered a kid's high chair.
For lunch, we had the crispy beef tacos and el cuscatleco. First of all, we loved the tacos. It is flavourful and very well-balanced. However, it was a mixed bag with the el cuscatleco - the pupusa was okay, and we didn't enjoy their tamale. On a positive note, we enjoyed the fried yuca and plantains.
The ramp entrance is wheelchair and pram-friendly. There's also outdoor seating available.“

“Great variety of tacos, burritos, quesadillas etc and everything was super tasty! Shrimp tacos were especially yummy. Service was friendly and willing to make substitutions and accommodations (flour tortillas instead of corn tortillas, kids meals for an adult with a small appetite, etc.). A little pricey, but that is typical of the area. No free water, only $2 bottles. Lots of birds hanging around waiting for your scraps (and leaving their poop). Seating is somewhat limited and no bathroom available. Take a walk on the wharf afterwards!“

“The food is usually delicious but I'm getting disappointed with the quesadillas. There's very little cheese which negates the point of a quesadilla. There's an abundance of chicken or vegetables depending on the kind I get but they are very stingy with the cheese. What's up with that??“
