“Went there this past weekend and tried them for the first time!!! Was greeted soon as I walked in. A tough bag lady that was waiting for her order said I had to try the seafood Mac and cheese and she wasn’t wrong. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 The good brother running the store also let me try a few other sides. All were amazing so I had to choose but I wanted to try all of them. I got the vegan drumettes, with the vegan ribs, seafood Mac and cheese and the collard greens. All tasted AMAZING!!!! I also ordered the mint tea and the ginger tea. Amazing. This was the Newark, De location on Main Street. I’ll definitely be back. Thanks for hospitality and the great food.“

“This place was recommended and I am so glad we tried it. Healthy food. So many options. I ordered the Jerk Mango Salad. I didn’t change a thing and wouldn’t. Perfect kick without being too spicy. Mango salsa was the best I’ve had. We also ordered the BBQ bowl. I wouldn’t change a thing in it. Try the Red Rice. It’s really good. Staff was quick, explained the menu and ordering process and also offered a taste of you weren’t sure you’d like something. 10/10. I’ll be back again.“

“The owners were very nice. I had a discrepancy in that I didn’t know how many catfish came with the catfish dinner. The owners were so nice that they gave me extra because it was my first time and because it was a misunderstanding that I had of the menu. The customer service was superb. The sides were awesome. I got mac & cheese and yams. They were really good. Also, the fish was fried very well. Will definitely come again and recommend to friends. Also, they have really really good smelling oils by the way that they sell.“

“I thoroughly research restaurants before I go... let's start there.

I was immediately greeted when I walked in. Even with me not realizing I had got there before closing they treated me like the first customer of the day.

I didn't take any photos because they really do care about the quality and presentation of their food. Just look at the other photos taken by others it's always delivered like that I'de imagine from my experience.

Lastly the food was so good I mean... the best I have had in a long time. I barely left anything on my plate.

Bonus round: I requested mac and cheese and they would not serve it to me because it did not come out the way they wanted it to. ( Also it was near closing time so they were out of a few sides) That meant a lot to me. Blessing to this amazing spot and I hope others enjoy what I got to experience and taste.“

Honestly, I would have rated everything 5/5 if it weren’t for the buttery taste in the chicken. I wish the chef offered an option to choose between oil or butter for the chicken marinade. The flavor was a bit too heavy for me and my husband. That said, I think it’s an acquired taste, so everyone should try it for themselves.“

“I had the pleasure of dining at The Hitching Post DC. I ordered the grilled lamb chops, mac & cheese, collard greens. The lamb chops are in my top 2 of the best I've ever tasted. I don't normally order mac & cheese when I go out to a restaurant, but this order was perfect as well. The collard greens could use a little vinegar, however, they were still delicious. I will definitely dine there in the near future. The lemon cake had was flavorful, moist and delicious, too. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“

“I love this place. I tried the oxtail mac & cheese.
Everything was cooked to perfection as well as the Oreo waffles and their grits and lamb chops.
Their brunch experience is very nice and there's parking in the area. I highly recommend you try out their brunch. They also have a cool mimosa tower. I couldn't pick a favorite food option!

Overall this chef is going places and I believe this restaurant can make it another 80 years. Our meals took some time so don't be in a rush. “I love the food at EllaRay’s Cafe. I go there every week. I usually call my order in and pick it up in 15 or 20 minutes. I prefer the vegetable platter and an extra side of beans. The portions are enough for two meals for me. I love breakfast there also. Glad I discovered them.“

My husband ordered jerk chicken, rice and string beans. It was enough food on each plate to feed 2. We sat in the restaurant and ate and the food was scrumptious. The seating is minimal, but most people preferred their food and left. I highly recommend this restaurant!“

The waitress informed us there was a larger party on the other side of the restaurant, and that is why our food was taking so long. The wingettes were perfectly seasoned and crispy, the fried rice was flavorful with that homemade touch, and the fried pork chops were tender, juicy, and full of Southern goodness.
