“Well I ordered a beef roti and got a chicken roti. It still taste delicious but not what I wanted. The goat roti was everything. The pholourie was life!“

“This place was probably one of my favorite dining experiences in DC. One of the reviews I read mentioned you’ll probably end up ordering 40-50% of the menu, and they were definitely right. For two people, we ordered 1 snack, 2 appetizers, 1 item from the “with bread” section, and 1 large share. We also got the rum cake (which was so good!) for dessert and we each had a drink. We left very full and with some leftovers from the large share.

All that aside, this place absolutely lived up to the hype! Each food item was packed with flavor and had beautiful presentation. The servers were kind and quick to help. Food comes out quickly which was nice! The music was on the louder side, but the playlist was great. We could still hear each other.

One thing to note is the menu changes slightly, so what you see in other reviews will more or less be what is available (with slight changes). For instance, we saw reviews about the chargrilled oysters but when we saw the menu it was (raw) oysters escovitch.

This place is definitely on my list to go back to!“

“My friends and I went to ISLA yesterday for my good friend’s birthday dinner. The restaurant’s atmosphere is very sexy, modern and the center chandelier is so beautiful. We had the octopus, lamp chops, oxtail patties, crab patties, Brussel sprouts and golden rice. They were all really good. Our waiter was great and attentive. The only gripe I would say that I noticed was in respect to the dress code. When I arrived I noticed that someone was dressed in extremely short shorts (I could see the persons cheeks) and they were allowed in without anyone saying anything to them. As we were leaving though a group of women entered the restaurant and one of them had a sleeveless top and was showing some cleavage. The host told her that there was a dress code and offered her a jacket. That seemed very inconsistent to me 🤷🏽‍♀️. I also don’t think person was dressed as revealing as the prior individual that I had seen.“

“This place is great and fast and the barbecue rib, beef is the best! The no fat and best meat and the most seasoned. I don’t like pork ribs and they offer beef ribs. The best quality too! Grateful for the money spent, I have come back multiple times for it!“

“i went for the late night lounge upstairs and had a wonderful time. Wes made sure our section was settled and that we had everything we needed. The DJ was a vibe and our bottle girl was very pleasant and was also present without seeming pushy. The bartender was not playing and poured really good margaritas and shots that kept the party flowing. Island Quizine turned out to be a great stop.

I arrived shortly after they opened, which was definitely a good thing.

I had passed by a couple of days earlier around lunchtime, and the line was out the door.

After this visit, now I know why.

The restaurant was clean and welcoming.

An associate was restocking the beverage machine when I arrived, but I was promptly greeted and able to place my order.

I was initially the only person dining in, but that quickly changed.

About 45 minutes later, every table was occupied and there was a line of customers waiting to order.

I ordered the Large Jerk Chicken with White Meat, along with rice and peas, fried plantains, cabbage, and a beef patty.

My food was ready in less than five minutes.

I started with the beef patty.

The golden pastry had a satisfying crust with a savory, well-seasoned beef filling and just enough spice to give it a flavorful kick.

Then came the jerk chicken (nice, generous chunks of white meat that were flavorful, juicy, tender, and piping hot).

The spice level was medium and perfect for me - well seasoned without being overly spicy.

There was an additional charge for white meat, which I didn’t mind given my preference.

The rice and peas were flavorful and well seasoned, with a savory Caribbean flavor and hearty texture that complemented the chicken nicely.

The fried plantains were sweet and tender with lightly caramelized edges - the perfect balance of soft, sweet, and savory.

The cabbage provided a nice contrast to the richer flavors on the plate.

It was tender without being overly soft, with carrots and other vegetables adding texture and color.

Great reggae music played throughout my entire visit, adding to the atmosphere.

The portion was very generous - too much for me to finish in one sitting, so I happily took the rest home.

Next time, I’ll explore more of the menu.

By the time I left, the tables were full and there was a line to order.

When I mentioned it was my first time, they kindly offered me a sample of curry chicken, brown stew, and oxtail over rice. Each one was full of flavor — so good that I had a hard time choosing!

I ended up ordering the brown stew chicken with rice, cabbage, and a side of plantains. Everything was cooked to perfection. The chicken was juicy, tender, and full of flavor. The plantains were fresh off the stove — perfectly sweet and soft.

“Cool concept it’s like +6 kitchens in 1. They offer a lot of different promos on social media. From Alana pizza, I ordered the burrata and the bacon pesto pizza. The burrata was really fresh and I enjoyed the pesto pizza. From Di Fara pizza, I ordered the pepperoni, sausage and meatball pizza. Not sure if it was dough or the pizza was undercooked, but I wish there was more of a crisp to the crust. I found myself chewing longer than expected.

Location was really clean and ordering via the app was easy. There’s plenty of street parking around the shopping center. Prices are high for the area. I would definitely be back to try some of the other restaurants.“

“From the waiter, the restaurant is now fully absorbed into the deli as a full service deli sit down more than the older full restaurant. The BBQ is from another location and fantastic taste but smaller portions than if you goto the New Mexico location. Other food there is now so so. Used to be our goto spot but in losing its original flair and now half its seating it is mostly just there as a quiet space if you get deli food.“
