But there wasn't a sense of table service really, you just catch them when you can, know the candle won't get lit even after you asked and teach the server how to swipe the card. I wish they had someone tending to things, but maybe when it's slower it will be better. The pizza was good, and lots of pepperoni. I wished it wasn't quite as soggy in the middle but it tasted good. And the burrata had no flavor, no nice olive oil or pepper, very bland, but it was a hearty portion. Can't complain about the drinks. It looked good so we took an Uber there and the pizza was excellent. We ordered a simple pepperoni pizza and my wife and I both thoroughly enjoyed it. Made from scratch good. We were a little bit surprised in that it was a smaller establishment as we thought we were going to a place that had lots of tables, etc. This place has one inside table and five or six countertops to eat at and then they have several tables outside but as noted, the food was fantastic. “Hot take — More restaurants need to be deaf-owned. I can't stand going to a restaurant and having to scream at the person next to me to have a conversation. Surprisingly, there was still music, but they're not blasting it.

The pizza and wine were delicious and paired great with each other! You're not going there for the finest of either, but they're also not cutting corners. We ordered a second margherita pizza immediately after ordering the first one.

Our server was Esmerelda and she was patient with my slow caveman-quality ASL. I was able to mention that it was my friend's birthday and with an ID confirmation, the staff got together and signed "happy birthday," which was a nice and sweet surprise!

I would totally recommend this place for anyone looking for a light meal without breaking the bank. No need to be intimidated by the language barrier either. You can easily point at what you want, but if you want to make more of an effort, you can scan the QR codes at the table to view animated GIFs of the staff signing things you might request like, "beer", "wine", or "parmesean cheese" — the essentials!“

“In D.C. there is plenty of average pizza, and some above average pizza.

But exceptional pizza is tough to find. Pupatella Neapolitan Pizza is exceptional.

The service was fun.

They must use only certain ingredients, only a specific type of oven and dough to keep their Neapolitan rating issued by the Italian government.

If you want a better pizza you can go to NYC or Italy, but in DC, Pupatella Neapolitan Pizza is a good as it gets.

First, the flame fired dough with burnt brown and black bits on an actual Italian pizza dough.

Second, the list of ingredients are approved by the Italian government -- no pineapple, no ketchup and no ranch and buffalo wing sauce -- just cheese and three ingredients.

I had cheese, sausage, garlic and mushrooms on mine -- it was SO GOOD. The mushrooms were so great, not canned, not thin, but thick and sauteed and tasty!“

I got the supreme pizza and the cheese with extra cheese and MAN did they deliver.
I ate both pizzas. With a glaze in my eyes I then devoured 2 orders of their delicious garlic bread.

“Red Hound Pizza has become the favorite pizza place in Takoma Park for me and many of my friends who live nearby. Their pizzas are hearty and delicious with a thick, 100% whole wheat crust using flours that are grown and milled by one of their neighbors just down the street. They also use local produce when possible and therefore their veggie pizza rotates every two weeks. They also have soft serve which rotates regularly with fun toppings like roasted pear or dehydrated chocolate cake. The owners are really great. The pizza is on the expensive side ($4-5/slice) compared to other pizza so you gotta pay a premium for high-quality ingredients. They also sell pizza by the slice. You can dine-in for casual eating -- they only have a few small tables inside and some more picnic tables in a closed off parking lot in the back. Take note: their pizza is rectangular! And the crust will taste different from almost any other pizza you've had bc of the 100% whole wheat sourdough. Also they don't have gluten-free options but they do always have a vegan option. fwiw Red Hound always uses 100% whole grains -- this will appeal to some (more protein, more fiber!) and not to others.“

Being UGA grads, "Bulldogs" seemed like the perfect place to have dinner after a full day of walking around DC. Four different pizzas (thin crust !) which all were good and we did not leave any slice behind. MO, our waiter and maybe the bartender also was attentive and did not show any regrets for having admitted us (ha!). The 15% off for Open Table booking was applied which made the the night even better. While the decor and ambience is not quite what other Open Table establishments might be, it was the perfect place for us.
