During our Saturday lunch visit, the restaurant was buzzing with activity. Limited seating means you might have to wait 5-10 minutes for a table during peak times, but trust me, it’s worth it. The atmosphere is casual yet vibrant, perfect for a quick meal.

We started with the 12 Hour Stewed Pork Hand Pulled Noodles and the Spicy Pork Noodles, alongside the “you pick 3” cold dishes: dried tofu skin, sweet heat cabbage, and shredded potatoes. We couldn’t resist adding a Spicy Cumin Beef Murger, served in a crisp baked flatbread.

The handpulled noodles were undeniably the highlight. Each strand was perfectly al dente, with just the right amount of chew. The stewed pork noodles stole the show—flavorful, tender, and the kind of comfort food that warms your soul. The spicy pork noodles were a bit of a letdown in comparison; while enjoyable, they lacked the bold flavor profile that made the stewed pork so memorable.

The cold dishes were a delightful accompaniment. The crunchy texture of the shredded potatoes and sweet heat cabbage provided a refreshing contrast to the chewy noodles. They added a nice touch of variety to our meal.

As for the Murger, it was decent. The cumin flavor was prominent and well-executed, making it a satisfying choice to round out our meal.

Overall, Chin Xi'an is an excellent spot for those craving authentic Szechuan flavors. The noodles are the star, and with a few tweaks to some dishes, this place could easily elevate itself to must-visit status. The noodles are hand pulled and made fresh every day and you can tell by the excellent texture and flavor! My new favorite restaurant! “The lady owner who usually takes my order and her son who helps, are always nice and friendly. The general tso chicken is good. However, sometimes I may have 1 to 2 pieces of chicken that are too chewy and the sauce is sweet to me, even though it is supposed to be spicy.

I usually ask they make mine very spicy. They are accommodating too. I like their pork fried rice with extra onions and vegetable lo mein. The spareribs tips are okay. The scallion pancake tasted okay too, but it was dense and not soft. Overall, I find it to be a very good place for Chinese food.“

“My review might be different if I went for lunch instead of dinner, as it was relatively empty and some things interesting characters came in and wandered the restaurant while we were eating.

First, and most importantly, the food was incredible. We ordered a bunch of dim sum, and a scallion and egg fried rice. Overall, we ordered the pork soup dumplings, shrimp shumai, crystal shrimp dumplings, beef pastry, gluttonous, rice, Chinese burger and the scallion and egg fried rice.

The food was delicious, especially the shrimp shumai, the beef pastry, and the fried rice.

“We were there for a high school reunion. The food was served family style. They were sensitive to my shellfish allergy and carefully told me what dishes I needed to avoid. There was a shrimp dish I couldn't have, but I noted the shrimp were really large. The Genrral Tso's chicken dish had generous sized chicken pieces that were lightly breaded and moist and tender. The beef and vegetable dish was tasty and the meat is melt in your mouth tender. We had a couple of vegetarians that had no problem getting enough to eat. There was a green bean dish that I'd love to have a recipe for, a vegetable fried rice, and a vegetable lo mein. They also provided appetizers. One was a huge egg roll with shrimp and chicken. The other was beef ribs. They brought out vegetable spring rolls for the vegetarians. There was a dessert table with a lovely selection of cookies, lemon bars, and fresh fruit. At the end, they brought containers out for us to take leftovers home. The only thing I thought was a little strange was no Decaf beverages other than water. “I've been ordering from here since 2002 and hands down, it is THE BEST Chinese food in MD!! And that's saying something because I am very picky about food. The owners have been the same for all these years. I drive 20 minutes each way just to pick up dinner. The food is always fresh and piping hot! From their egg rolls and BBQ Spare Ribs, the Subgum Wanton Soup (Ground Pork filled Wantons, Pork strips, Chicken and Shrimp with a variety of vegetables in yummy chicken broth...fantastic on chilly nights), to my favorite sweet and savory Beef with Garlic Sauce, Sweet & Sour dishes, Shrimp in Lobster Sauce and very flavorful Fried Rice (several varieties) or ANY entree for that matter, everything is always SO delicious and they are very generous with their portions!
