“Portland has a LOT of breweries with Shipyard being a well known & well loved icon! The brewery is a close walk from the busy touristy old Port area so it’s worth the walk!

The inside brewery is beautiful & very coastal themed- which is fitting for their name & location! Sooooo many beers on tap including flights to sample! They have a massive merch store with shirts & swag. We came during their pumpkin beer season & got a fun Pumpkinhead (their most famous beer) t shirt to take home!“

“Very good service and beers. The Oktoberfest was amazing and my wife got the Mexican lager and the server put in limes in it to make it 100% better. Thank you for doing that and for letting us try samples. We sampled the raspberry wheat… it’s pretty good but I think the others were better. Being from Milwaukee WI we are beer lovers and this place had some really good beers. A couple things I would recommend. Please take your merch more seriously. Would have loved to have gotten a cool shirt. The other thing I would say and this might be true but we didn’t see any — if you have decks of cards or any board games — people traveling like us would have loved to temporarily use them for a bit. All in all though this place has great beer and a good atmosphere and a great outdoor patio seating area. That was very nice to enjoy the beautiful weather.“

“What can you say?? It's New England's first craft brewery, opened a few months before that MA patriot one. :D They keep it simple with a quaint tasting room, plenty of seating outside in great weather, very comfortable and still fantastic brews!! Definitely recommend!“

“ACCESSIBILITY AUDIT:
Shipyard is accessible to people with mobility (dis)abilities, though it isn't marked well until you get outside.

If you try to enter the taproom from the main entrance, there are a flight of stairs down, so you may think it's inaccessible. However, if you go through the gift shop, take a left upon entering, you can go down a ramp to the taproom.

I hope management responds to this review by putting up signs with arrows at the taproom entrance and gift shop entrances and maybe an arrow on the gift shop floor to make it clearer that wheelchair users can access the space.

Thank you for keeping the door propped open so that it was more accessible to enter. Please also move the sidewalk gift shop sign towards the far door rather than in the middle and right in front of the entryway. Where it was positioned centrally, it was too difficult to get inside with a wheelchair or stroller and that's an easy thing to train staff.

The taproom has a lowered bar section too. 👏🏽

There is one section of bathrooms that are not accessible but there is a small sign (shown) that directs you to where the accessible restrooms are.

“Awesome place! We went for the first time yesterday, and we were not disappointed with the food and drinks! The 🦞 roll was one of the best that we’ve had. We ordered a cheese plate and oysters as well, and they were both delicious. Hidden gem tucked away in the Old Port! We will definitely be back again.“
