“Let me put the cart before the horse and tell you this was one of the best, if not the best, experiences I have had at a restaurant. Corrinna was lovely. She took time to explain to this uninitiated wine consumer the differences between wines, glasses, and tasting, as well as pairing with foods. Speaking of food, this was also splendid. We started with oysters, which was a first, calamari, pork belly, arancini, and focaccia that melted in your mouth. My main course was the Swordfish with sweet potato puree, fingerling, and swordfish "bacon" jam. This is a silent gem that I selfishly stays quiet for my purposes, but Back River Bistro needs to be visited by anyone who loves a small curated dining experience. Much success to Matt & Corrinna. It is much deserved.”

“What an amazing hidden spot! Wish we had found this years ago! We come here once a year on vacation. Pepper is a wonderful conversationalist, and so friendly! “The wait was an hour. But it was well WORTH the time. They don’t measure or weigh the lobster. They just load it up. I had leftovers. I have a healthy appetite but I couldn’t finish it all. I opted to not even eat the majority of the roll. It was tasty with the awesome warm butter that is served with it. This was my first visit but not my last. Awesome hard working folks.”

“The nicest people in town serving some of the best food in Maine. It's the first place I recommend to out-of-towners and locals alike. Not only is the wine excellent, the salads, oysters, and desserts stand out in particularly in my mind as some of the best I've had.”

Pancakes huge! Toast thick. Veggie omelet is heavy on the mushroom in my opinion. Regular diner coffee. Worth the stop for a good old fashion diner breakfast!”

“They always have some of the best fried food around, especially the onion rings!!!
The scallops portion seemed a little small at first, but the cook noticed the same and brought out a few more, which made me feel they cared about their food and customers. I stop here every year after Monkey C, and you should too!
The crab roll is also good 👍”

“The service was fantastic, the staff persons moved through the lunch rush with relative ease and got people in and out quickly. I had a chicken salad on italian herb and cheese, which was pretty good. I did find the chicken tasted a bit salty but everything else was delicious. The prices seem to be in the mid range for area subs.”

“Our first time although we have heard about all the amazingness of Red’s. We cannot rave about this place enough. The owner Debbie is so personable & kind with a huge smile that is contagious! Chef Shannon is a perfect pair to Debbie. Everything on this menu is fresh daily, dips & sauces made on the premises & you won’t find a lobster roll like you will get at Red’s. It’s a true family based establishment 🦞Together this is a MUST visit. There is a continual line & often a wait but it is worth every second in line.”

“We live nearby, and we stop here from time to time to scratch that burger itch. This place is very consistent…fries are always hot, nuggies crispy, and burgers aren’t just slapped together and thrown at a wall. I believe the managers name is Jen. Well done, Jen. Place is clean, consistent and has good vibes. Lotta questionable McDonald’s out there…this one hits the mark!”

“While visiting dear friends in Belgrade Lakes we ventured to Boothbay for a On the way back we stopped at Blanchard’s Creamery. I got the seasonal Maine Blueberry. Every bite burst with sweet deep blueberry. The best of the best commercial ice creams simply don’t compare. My hostess had the Raspberry Sorbet. She loved it. My host had an espresso latte’ that he boasted was killer. They’ll be going back for more, soon. I’ll be at home in New Orleans lamenting, wishing, Blanchard’s Creamery wasn’t 1,600 miles away. Our ice cream experience was made all the better by the young ladies behind the counter. They’re as thoughtful and sweet as the ice cream they serve. An 11 out of 10 experience!”

The new owner explained that he can’t make money on them because they are too expensive…. Eider’s food was expensive to begin with, but always worth it and always something to talk about. “WOW!!! We’ve been coming to the region for so many years and it’s so great to find a place to eat like Oysterhead Pizza Co.!!! 4 of us ordered takeout. Pizza, a Calzone, a salad, the Magic Beans… everything was perfectly delicious. Fresh, tasty… we’re from NJ where people think you can’t get good pizza unless you’re in NJ/NY. Last night while eating our amazing food from Oysterhead Pizza Co., I could tell them all: Get in your cars and drive to Damariscotta for some of the pizza ever!!! We will be back for sure!!!”
