“By far our favorite restaurant in the Midcoast area. Always delicious food and great service. If you need gluten free options this is the place.”

“Let me put the cart before the horse and tell you this was one of the best, if not the best, experiences I have had at a restaurant. Corrinna was lovely. She took time to explain to this uninitiated wine consumer the differences between wines, glasses, and tasting, as well as pairing with foods. Speaking of food, this was also splendid. We started with oysters, which was a first, calamari, pork belly, arancini, and focaccia that melted in your mouth. My main course was the Swordfish with sweet potato puree, fingerling, and swordfish "bacon" jam. This is a silent gem that I selfishly stays quiet for my purposes, but Back River Bistro needs to be visited by anyone who loves a small curated dining experience. Much success to Matt & Corrinna. It is much deserved.”

“I think one of the owners just needs to take a step back and humble themselves and understand that without employees you don't have a business, without patrons you don't have a business and when you treat your employees like they're expendable and less than, you're going to end up with a reputation, this is a small area, people talk and word travels quickly, so don't mistreat your employees and by all means respect them, because in the long run I don't think that a single individual could handle everything that goes on in the background. just because you have money doesn't mean that you're better than the next person because at the end of the day we all end up in the same place when our time is at an end on this world. humble yourself, because when you don't you fumble and it makes an individual look like a fool.”

“Good food, great steamers. But the bees wow. I literally bought a soda just to try to deter the lovely 5 we had away from our table. Didn’t really work, so we ate in the car. Idk what they can do about that situation, but yeah. Can’t really enjoy it and I wanted to”
“What an amazing hidden spot! Wish we had found this years ago! We come here once a year on vacation. Pepper is a wonderful conversationalist, and so friendly! Every beer we tried was excellent, and the food was amazing. We took some beer to go as well!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! We are from upstate New York. ~Rob and Janet Dandrow”

“Nice friendly place. We stopped for dinner on Saturday night. Everything was lovely and tasty and met some nice people. Just realized today Thursday that I may have left a bag there realized today that I might have left a bag there. Called and sure enough they had found it in parking lot. Thank you so much Will definitely be back with friends. I had already mentioned it to some friends”

“My wife and I have been searching high and low for a top-shelf dining experience in Maine since we arrived. Today, we drove 2-1/2 hours from Bar Harbor to Wiscasset to eat at “In a Silent Way.” It exceeded all expectations. James Beard-level food and wine. From the oysters to the steak tartare and raspberry panna cotta, everything was magnificent. Well worth the drive. Confident sharing, In a Silent Way, is the most elevated food in Maine. And lovely service as well. Gushing.”
“The wait was an hour. But it was well WORTH the time. They don’t measure or weigh the lobster. They just load it up. I had leftovers. I have a healthy appetite but I couldn’t finish it all. I opted to not even eat the majority of the roll. It was tasty with the awesome warm butter that is served with it. This was my first visit but not my last. Awesome hard working folks.”

Pancakes huge! Toast thick. Veggie omelet is heavy on the mushroom in my opinion. Regular diner coffee. Worth the stop for a good old fashion diner breakfast!”

The scallops portion seemed a little small at first, but the cook noticed the same and brought out a few more, which made me feel they cared about their food and customers. I stop here every year after Monkey C, and you should too!
The crab roll is also good 👍”

“The service was fantastic, the staff persons moved through the lunch rush with relative ease and got people in and out quickly. I had a chicken salad on italian herb and cheese, which was pretty good. I did find the chicken tasted a bit salty but everything else was delicious. The prices seem to be in the mid range for area subs.”

“Our first time although we have heard about all the amazingness of Red’s. We cannot rave about this place enough. The owner Debbie is so personable & kind with a huge smile that is contagious! Chef Shannon is a perfect pair to Debbie. Everything on this menu is fresh daily, dips & sauces made on the premises & you won’t find a lobster roll like you will get at Red’s. It’s a true family based establishment 🦞Together this is a MUST visit. There is a continual line & often a wait but it is worth every second in line.”

“The food was amazing! We had the Creekstone Steak and Monkfish and were not disappointed, both were done to perfection! The wine 🍷 was perfect (house favorite was our’s as well) We did not have time for dessert (concert at the Boothbay Harbor Opera House) but we will on our next visit 😊 Definitely one of our new favorites in the Midcoast area!”

“WOW!!! We’ve been coming to the region for so many years and it’s so great to find a place to eat like Oysterhead Pizza Co.!!! 4 of us ordered takeout. Pizza, a Calzone, a salad, the Magic Beans… everything was perfectly delicious. Fresh, tasty… we’re from NJ where people think you can’t get good pizza unless you’re in NJ/NY. Last night while eating our amazing food from Oysterhead Pizza Co., I could tell them all: Get in your cars and drive to Damariscotta for some of the pizza ever!!! We will be back for sure!!!”

“As a regular and a big fan of the menu and the food, I was terribly disappointed to find several signature items missing from the menu yesterday. No more crabmeat items?! No more salmon BLTs?! The new owner explained that he can’t make money on them because they are too expensive…. Eider’s food was expensive to begin with, but always worth it and always something to talk about. Why d*** it down?”

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food and drinks delicious.

“Definitely a cut above all the coffee available in this town, that is if you appreciate a better brew. I go here for one thing and it's coffee. I have not tried any of the food items but they look great!”
“Good food. I recommend stopping in at about 10:50 and waiting to avoid the line. At about 11:00 it got really busy and we would have spent a lot of time waiting in line. There is a variety of options and choices.”
