“Clean, friendly, attentive, excellent food. You can tell right away when you walk to the door that the owners love this place and are proud of it. I had the steak and eggs, both cooked to my rare/over medium delight and my rye toast actually came with my meal. So important. Loved our waitress Becky. I'm from Sfld and my sisters are in Mt. Clemens. We will make this our meeting spot from now on.“

“Ordered China Villa on Door Dash. Was fully prepared for something in the order to go wrong because of how large it was, but everything was there, exactly as described, and very well packaged- not a single leak, hole, or spill! Portion sizes were absolutely wonderful, reminded me of old school take-out where they’d FILL it to the brim, and even after the commute to the house, the food was still fresh and hot!

As far as the food goes:

SOUP: The wonton soup was really good, but a tiny bit greasy, would definitely order again- the dumplings were actually really large. I wasn’t a fan of the hot and sour soup as it wasn’t spicy enough for my liking and wasn’t very balanced (was very much on the sour side), but hot and sour soup is usually preferential anyways.

APPETIZER: The rangoons were on the sweeter side and didn’t have much filling at all- they weren’t bad, I just probably wouldn’t order them again.

DINNERS: Almond chicken was delicious, yellow gravy was more on the watery side than it was thick but tasted okay. Upgraded the rice to pork fried rice and it was so good. Beef and broccoli was great too.

SIDES: The egg rolls were filled up! Ordered a side of green onion (which I LOVED that that was an option), and they give you a really good amount with the order.

Overall really pleased with my experience ordering with them, and will definitely be ordering from here the next time I want some nostalgic Chinese food.“

“If you're looking for a culinary adventure, try Saffron De Twah, a Morcoccoan restaurant on the east side of Detroit. The food is amazing--the chicken sandwich is the best you'll ever have in your lifetime. Don't leave without trying the tea. What a presentation! “We tried the Detroit Pepper Company tonight, first time! We went with the Detroit Stuffed Pepper, beef with parmesan cheese. Very good taste, and huge. We also ordered the Vegan Stuffed Pepper, but we will have to try it tomorrow for lunch...too full from the Detroit Stuffed Pepper! We also tried the lentil bean soup, very nice. And my wife enjoyed the Mango Tastic smoothie:-) We're happy to learn about the Detroit Pepper Company, and we'll be back. Highly recommended. A very clean take-out only place, with good food and a very friendly staff.“

“I didnt know anything about Soul Food, but have come here several times now. Very tasty meals and good kind service. The neighborhood is beautiful and it is easy to find by driving up Jefferson toward Pewabic Pottery, turn onto Van Dyke and just park right along Agnes. The neighborhood has one of those pretty names, too, tho sadly I have forgotten. But the food is the big deal, and the folksy service. I even got dessert as well. It is really worth the trip!“

“I have gone to the Whitney every year for Christmas dinner. It was annual holidays to celebrate with my nieces. Last Christmas holiday we chose to take the buffet. I was extremely disappointed. All I wanted was prime rib. The server was not very friendly. She stared at me and I was very uncomfortable when I asked for the prime rib only. There was just a small end piece and she gave me a very thin slice close resembling lunch meat. I don’t understand since I paid for a complete meal and it wasn’t cheap. I could’ve gone somewhere else and had a wonderful prime rib dinner. The au jous was not warm, so that was very disappointing. I will never do the buffet again if it’s like last year. In previous years, I’ve attended the buffet and it was outstanding.“

I had their Maple Shakerato and a brownie. The drink had the perfect level of sweetness once stirred, and the brownie was soft with rich chocolate chunks, really satisfying. The ambience was also great; the indoor seating area had a calm, cozy vibe. Most people were working or studying, so it wasn't too loud, perfect for relaxing or getting some work done.“

It came with seasoned fried potatoes and sourdough toast. I like a place that offers sourdough. And the coffee. As someone who takes their coffee black, I am often disappointed by diner coffee and resort to cream and sugar just to make it palatable. Not so here. Whatever blend they are using is of superior quality.\nI've only been here the one time, but their menu looked pretty diverse for breakfast and lunch. Would recommend.“
