“I love Strange Matter! Having a location on campus is a total lifesaver for students like me who don’t have a car and can’t easily get to their other shops. The coffee is spectacular—you can truly taste the quality in every cup. Their doughnuts are just as incredible and are my favorite in East Lansing (or honestly, anywhere). The staff is amazing—always so kind and welcoming, no matter how busy it gets. Special shoutout to Eli for their awesome energy and for getting me hooked on iced coffee (I usually only drink hot so this was a big move for me lol).
I also really appreciate Strange Matter’s values—they actively support important causes like LGBTQIA+ rights, women’s equality, reproductive justice, and more. It makes supporting them feel even more meaningful.
As a now-alum, I’m truly going to miss stopping by for their delicious drinks, treats, and the all-around fantastic atmosphere. The next time I’m in town, the MSU Union Strange Matter will definitely be my first stop.

“I'm a regular at this place and it's awesome. The coffee shop has a bunch of different coffees and teas that I really like. Personally, I'm a fan of the Yemeni tea. I totally recommend this place - it's one of the best spots for a coffee or tea in Lansing.“

“What a lovely visit! The atmosphere is very inviting. The many seating choices makes a morning wanderer wander no more. Bar stools, tables, cozy high back chairs, couches, they have options! I had a nitro alongside my books and journal. A few minutes later, a barista comes over with a new nitro & tells me they realized the one I had may have been flat. (They realized it moments later.) That is amazing customer service! Divinity was the cashier and one that offered me a new one. She was great from beginning to end, even mentioning that they make their own brown sugar syrup! It’s pleasant starting your day with yummy coffee paired with a smiling face and such a feel good bonus that she cared that I had the nitro at its best. I walked blocks on a chilly morning for this with zero regrets. THANK YOU :)“

“One of my fave Starbucks in the MSU area because there's space to relax and it doesn't feel as corporate or uptight. The baristas are interesting and helpful and service pretty darn quick. I do coffee as opposed to fancy drinks, so I'm always relieved when coffee is strong and really good.“

“I've been stopping in here for 4 years now. I pass 2 Biggbys and a Starbucks, but I've always stayed loyal to this branch. Staff are always in a great mood, positive vibe in the store too. Always clean and I don't think they've ever been out of a drink I've asked for either. While the faces have changed a little in my time visiting here,the new ones are always just as kind and sincere as the last. I also visit this one mostly upon open,but am known to stop in at random times during the day if I need an extra " fix " to get me home.“

“The Starbucks on the MSU campus is a fantastic spot for students, faculty, and visitors alike! The atmosphere is always welcoming and busy. I happen to be a visitor but the staff here are incredibly friendly and efficient, even during busy hours.
As a local Realtor, I think Starbucks a great place to take a break from my busy schedule. Next time you’re on Campus, check it out. It’s between the MSU Spirit Shop and MSU Store, for a quick snack or a new MSU shirt. “

“I’m visiting from out of town. In Seattle we have Starbucks on every corner, literally… so I’ve been to a good share of Starbucks locations. This one is, by far, one of the best I’ve been to. Order was prompt and perfect, but what really stands out is the welcoming, friendly service from everyone at this location. And, the indoor and outdoor seating available makes this a great choice if you are in the area. I will definitely stop by every time I’m in East Landing“
