22 Best Pubs in Grand Rapids

“Just moving to GR. This will be our go to for food and drink. We have eaten there twice for lunch. Food is great and priced reasonably. Lots of specials throughout the week. Great staff, they seem to know most folks who come. They even recognized us on our second visit. Everyone welcomed us to the neighborhood. What a great find.”

“one of my the best pinball bars in the nation! (my opinion). the only other one i think of is paranoia pinball in charlotte north carolina (AS OF WRITING THIS i have learned that paranoia pinball in north carolina is either closed or moving locations, let's hope the latter). ..... most "arcade bars" are overpriced in the machines and drinks, cater to kids or nerds, put more effort into the video games (pinball is the only thing i care about), or have some kind of gimmick ie. cidercadr in austin tx (only thing to drink is stupid cider) or the circuit in richmond va that is pour-your-own beer (which leads ofc to people who don't know how to pour paying $15 for a tap modelo). anyways this place doesn't do any of those things and actually rocks. smoking area outside, there are bums but most are friendly. they have ginger beer and tequila (my favorite drink). the best machines are 50c and give matches. the lotr machine is the best running and most fun of that particular game i've ever played! i played it all night! i don't remember leaving but i made it to where i needed to be. no food served here. also they have some really great bands that i respect love and trust play here. highly recommend this business.”

“An extensive list of bourbon and whiskeys! We tried a couple and also had an Old Fashioned from on tap, as well as a rye Manhattan. Very good. The food menu wasn't nearly as extensive. We had the deviled eggs, a salad, and the 12 Oz ribeye. The eggs had a unique hot sauce with them and were delicious. The salad was pretty normal. I loved the seasoning on the ribeye, although it definitely was done much more towards medium or medium-well vs medium rare. Still very tasty!”

“Very nice place to get a burger. Everyone was friendly, even the owner who came out and chatted with me. Didn’t have a drink but understand that they are reasonably priced and good. Burger and fries cost a little more than those at the other nearby bars, but they were exceptionally good. I can definitely recommend.”

“The employees Stephanie and Anna run this place phenomenally. I mean, the deals and specials they run, the way they treat customers and make people feel at home. These two keep the place alive!!!My girlfriend moved in near by months ago, and spend tons of time there just for the delicious fair priced food, awesome drinks and fantastic atmosphere. Themes every night. Awesome weekend parties. Just try it out!!!”

“Atmosphere and service were excellent! Great drink and beer menu. Had bang shrimp app and goat cheese... both very good. Our table had the burger, fish and chips, Shepards pie, grilled cheese, Brussel sprouts and onion rings. Everyone was very happy with their food. Definitely would come back to this place.”

“We stopped in for an early lunch on a Saturday. The place was quiet, but the staff was ready to go! Cool atmosphere. Dug the decor, especially the old business receipts and invoices in the tables' finish. We'd heard good things about the tater tot dishes, and Blue Dog didn't disappoint. The Chorizo Queso tots were flavorful, with just the right amount of heat. The Poutine tots were warm, savory, and filling. Thanks for everything, Blue Dog! We'll be back, and we'll bring friends.”

“This is gonna make me sound like an old curmudgeon, but I'm going for it anyway. First of all, I love this place. It has the most insanely affordable happy hours in Grand Rapids (which is surprisingly good), It's a fun place to get drunk and have fun with friends, and the atmosphere takes you from a busy city, to feeling like you've stepped in to an old cabin bar out in the sticks. The ONLY thing that keeps me from coming here more often (and here comes the curmudgeon part) is the level they play their music. The music itself isn't the issue. It's the volume. It's hard to have a decent conversation with anyone here, let alone even think clearly enough to convey a clear thought. It's like club level loud. Which really doesn't mesh well with the hunting cabin/lodge vibe the original owner was clearly going for. Besides that, I still go somewhat regularly when I'm in the mood for that.”

“Awesome friendly bar with a cool atmosphere and small-town feel. Great bar food. Had the wings, corndogs, and onion rings and it was all very good. All the prices are fair, and the drinks are strong. Perfect place to relax and get a cold drink after a long day.”

“My family was in town for a family reunion and we decided to go to Founders on a Friday night for dinner. There were 18 of us, and we did not arrive as one party. The staff were very accommodating and sat us close together so we could get up and visit each other. The food and beer were as expected: delicious! We kept our server on his toes, and he was fantastic”

“I love a good sour beer and that's their specialty. I lucked out as it was $2 drafts on Tuesday when I went, which meant I could enjoy a variety of beers without worrying about racking up a big bill. I ate a pizza as well and it was delicious and filling. I didn't think I would finish it, but somehow managed as I had a nice flow of beers to accompany the meal. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Grand Rapids.”

“This was a great place to go. Nice and clean. Good environment, nice people. Only gave a lower star because the service was slow but that was due to being under staffed for a Friday night.People did the best they could and the food was great, just a little slow.Would definitely go back!”

“Cool little place. Has indoor and outdoor seating. There is a big wall of the beers they have of tap. Not a bad place to go to have a couple of drinks, but the food would be what I would go back for. I got the fried pickel chips and they were amazing. The fish and chips were also really good. The burgers and sandwiches were pretty big, and everything was reasonably priced. Really enjoyed my meal.”

“Stopped in here quickly to grab a drink before an event at John Ball Zoo. It's only a short drive from the zoo, and fortunately the service was super quick! I'd never been in here before, but was intrigued, and the location worked for our whole group. It's a little divey, but not as much as what I expected from some of the other reviews. Maybe because it was still earlyish, so there was quite a bit of light coming in. I found it to be clean enough, the bartender was friendly enough, they have a decent drink selection, it wasn't so loud we couldn't hear each other. I'm not sure it will end up being my favorite place in town, but it was fine, and I'd definitely go back again.”

“This place is amazing! We are visiting from Austin and Pandora and Jazzy are seriously AMAZING. they are some of the best bartenders we've had ever and we live in a bar capital. This place is my favorite ever and cannot wait to come back.”

“Decent place. GR "dive" bar... exactly what it's supposed to be. Mostly regulars, so expect to have to figure out the best way to order, get served, get keno, etc. Didn't eat, just drank, and prices were fair. No complaints here- it is what it is.”

“Still a good spot for vegan options (chef left who revamped the menu), but the new menu is great traditional bar food. Big patio, clean, pretty frequent to have small local bands playing outside in the summer. Staff is awesome, very friendly and accommodating.”

“Sunday is Happy Hour all day! $1 off Drinks, $2 off food. We grabbed a few drinks and ordered a bunch of starters. (Pizza rolls & Fish & Chips (with truffle fries) pictured. Forgot to take pictures of the deviled eggs & bone-in dry rub wings, but everything we ate was delicious. We'll definitely come back and order the club sandwich and a few more of the apps. The wait staff was so friendly and patient. The atmosphere was super chill and everything was clean, including the bathrooms.”

“This place is fantastic! The beer selection isn't large but they have a handful of quality craft beers on tap, a decent stocked bar, the bartender is friendly, and I dropped a $20 on the floor and it was returned to me. I don't understand why this place is so empty. They have games, plenty of seating, and will make a great place to tryout as a new bar home.”

“Stopped in for some drinks and light food while watching the game on St. Patricks day. Relaxed pub atmosphere. Great selection of craft beers, including option of flights. Recommend burgers. Other food options were great as well. Server was friendly.”

“We had some time to wait for our pizza to finish at Little Caesar’s, so we popped into Cheers where they were really nice. The wings seemed fresh made and it’s been so long since we had a delicious homemade wing! Man, what a great experience.”

“Been to the score many times and always enjoy their HUGE beer selection. But this summer menu is even more amazing! Had the Cali Bowl and will definitely be back for it again.Kid-friendliness: Have a small playground back behind the volleyball court for the kids. Plus lots of sand!Parking: Ton of spots but they fill up fast when they start getting busy. Spots are a little tight so big trucks good luck!”
