50 Best Italian Restaurants near Grosse Pointe

“Driven by here many times but never stopped in, and we finally went in today. The owner (i think?) was so sweet! We ordered 2 Italian beefs (1 hot, 1 mild), a chicago dog, and Cajun shrimp soup. Never had an Italian beef before, but this did not disappoint! The giardiniera was super flavorful, and the sandwich didn't skimp on the beef. I've had many chicago dogs, in Chicago, and this one held up with the competition there. The andouille sausage in the soup was AMAZING. We will 100% be going back here!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME. In a town with very few...flavorful...options, Max's is a goldmine!!! I had the Cajun shrimp soup and not only was it delicious, but everything tasted fresh, warm, and like it came straight from someone's kitchen. The owner (who's name I'm sorry to have missed!) was so kind and warm. To think we've been living here over a year and had never encountered this place!

“Pastaio is a wonderful addition to the Grosse Pointe dining scene. The space feels warm, inviting, and thoughtfully designed—perfect for a relaxed night out that still feels a little special. The food was delicious, with so many great options that make it hard to choose just one favorite. Everything we ordered was beautifully prepared and full of flavor.

I also loved seeing a well-thought-out mocktail menu. It’s such a nice touch and something that feels very current and inclusive—whether you’re not drinking that night or just want something fun and intentional beyond water or soda.

One of my favorite features of the space is the semi-private area in the back. It’s ideal for hosting—intimate enough to feel special, but still connected to the energy of the restaurant. You can tell this is a place designed with gathering in mind, which I always appreciate.“

“My husband and I and our son and daughter in law went to Nico Walkerville last week and it was a wonderful first time experience for us all. The atmosphere was beautiful. Very inviting. “Staff was extremely friendly and courteous. Our waiter Giorgio was charming and worked hard to make our evening perfect. Upon discovering a tiny mistake in my order, he immediately brought me a new plate (although I had not complained—the first plate was yummy). The dish I actually ordered was so delicious, but of course now I had too much food, but they expected me to take both pastas home, providing containers before I thought to ask. Then a complimentary tiramisu on top of that! We felt very well taken care of. I don’t expect such special treatment every time but the food was so good we will definitely go back as often as we can.“

“Ordered pizza for pickup while staying across the street at Holiday Inn Express. Although the toppings were plentiful and delicious, the crust was undercooked & a little doughy! Plus, it was on a sheet of parchment/wax paper that was completely stuck to the crust & impossible to peel off! Unfortunately, these 2 details turned what should have been an enjoyable night into a messy and frustrating experience!“

“Visited The Cook's Shop for my wife's birthday and had a wonderful experience. Carlos was our server—attentive, friendly, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the evening.

For the appetizer, I had the grilled calamari. It was perfectly tender and came with two sauces: one layered beneath the squid and another served on the side, both adding great flavor contrast.

For the main course, I chose the scaloppine piccata. The risotto it came with was creamy, rich, and packed with mushrooms—absolutely delicious.“

“My parents have said for some time that this pizza was the best in the area, and I finally got to try it today. They were right! We had their round supreme and square Hawaiian with a side or marinara and ranch. The sauce on this is pizza is perfect - very fresh flavor but not too acidic. Generous on the toppings, quality mozzarella, and the bread is some of the best I’ve had. Do yourself a favor and stop by Little Italy!“

“Went to Ciao last night for a birthday/Valentines Day dinner. They had a set menu for the night. Every single thing we ate was beyond delicious!! The plates were so pretty to look at and even better to taste. So much love went into each plate! The Gorgonzola gnocchi melted in your mouth. The meat (on the short ribs) fell right off the bone…don’t even get me started on the cheesecake and chocolate creme brûlée!!! 😍 Mia, our server went above and made the night so much better. Definitely worth every penny!!“

“Charming. An old school Italian restaurant in a charming part of Grosse Pointe Park. A family friendly restaurant without being adult unfriendly ?. I went with a classic lasagna and it tasted like I was a “made man” in the Corleone family or something. Heaven! Atmosphere was classy without being stuffy. Midweek dinner and not much of a crowd so we were seated right away. I think my favorite part was tomato sauce that was used in the lasagna.“

Hands down one of the BEST I have had! my mom ordered the lemon chicken and I ordered Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo. Both were excellent dishes and packed with home made flavor. “Very intimate. Very small. Quaint. Luckily it was not filled to capacity, as my chair was in aisle and tables are very close together. Draft from outdoors was very cold & brisket.
The bread basket was nice, good crust & tasty interior. The salad & blue cheese crumbles was fresh & good portion. Dressing was a bit sweet, my fault for not asking on the side. Gnocchi was a generous portion. & magnificent; light, & fluffy They made it Florentine for me; delicious. My friend's portion of piccata was nice, broccoli nicely steamed, no fluff. Potatoes looked nice and a bit textured, I didn't not taste. Other tables portions looked generous also. Tiramisu for dessert. Most memorable? The gnocci! Might be the best I've ever eaten. “I've only bought the Italian sub but I noticed they make pizzas also while you wait. There's an array of salads plus frozen pizza you can pop in the oven. I've had a lot of subs but these are the very best. They make them while you wait.“
