“Everything at Gin Gin’s is top notch; from the food to the service to the atmosphere. It is easily the best restaurant in GR! Downside is that it’s hard to get in. “We didn’t check what time they closed so we were kind of jerks and showed up half hour before closing. Even still the staff was all wonderful. It was our first time here so we took a minute ordering, but she was still sweet waiting patiently. When we got the food it was all excellent. We split a dessert that we all didn’t care for. The General Manager Sheena came over immediately and offered us to try something different. She brought us a new dessert. “Today my wife and I decided to try this restaurant for the first time and said to ourselves “we moved here in 2024 and are now just trying it. Wish we did earlier.”

We were very happy with everything from the time we entered to the time we left and here is why…

1. Staff - all that we interacted with were very kind, nice, helpful, and attentive. Our waitress was well versed in the menu and did a great job. We enjoyed having her serve us.

2. Food - today we went right for the entree (skipped apps) and could have been more pleased.

My chicken strips and tots were done to a crispy golden perfection that I just loved with the BBQ sauce they served. Highly recommend.

My wife said her burger was excellent and the loaded tots were so good she could have had them just on their own.

And the prices were very reasonable yet, worth it.

3. Atmosphere - a sports bar with many TVs for fans to watch the game (myself included) is a perfect atmosphere for me but when you go to converse with others, it’s always perfect when nothing over powers your conversation.

By this I mean the TVs were not blaring and neither was music. It was a calm easy going feel where we both could enjoy great conversation without saying “huh? Can’t hear you.”

All in all, we may have waited a few years before trying Big E’s on Beltline in Grand Rapids but better late then never. We will be back and recommend it to anyone interested.“

“Very good place !! my man and I both got burgers and fries. The food smelled so good, it was so tasty, the meat wasn’t dry there was just enough sauce on the burger you didn’t need extra , the fries were cooked well and seasoned to perfection. I’d give this 10/10.“

“This restaurant came recommend to me as the best steakhouse in Grand Rapids. I was not disappointed. The staff was friendly (Kathryn) and answered all my questions. The atmosphere is perfect for a fancy date. Very romantic setting to impress. I don't drink alcohol and they had an alcohol free 0% Giasen Merlot which was exquisite. I started with French Onion Soup and Cheese Popover Muffins. For an entree, I had Australian Rib Lamb Chops with a Mint Demi Glase. For a side, I enjoyed Brussels Sprouts with Honey Dijon Mustard Sause. Everything exceeded my expectations and the Merlot paired nicely with the Lamb Chops. I highly recommend the Chop House as a must visit dining destination in the heart of Grand Rapids.“

- Cheeseburger Basket - $11.75: The cheeseburger was taken from a warmer. The cheese was melted, but solid and stuck to the bun and tore the bun while trying to add toppings that were given separate from the cheeseburger. The toppings were very fresh and crisp, however. The burger patty was still juicy and cooked good. The bun was still soft and fresh.

- Fries (included in basket): Crinkle cut and on the thinner side. They cooled really fast and were tough. Eat them immediately. They needed a bit of salt, too.

- Super Pretzel - $6: Soft inside and lots of salt. It was on the darker side and tough, but okay.

- Service: Fairly immediate and helpful.

- Conclusion: You are mainly paying for convenience here. It is not bad, but it is nothing much to write home about. The burger was okay.

“We went to the Mudpenny in Ada for dinner. It was probably the worst food ever presented. The trout was overcooked almost to a dried consistency, the grain had wimpy mushrooms and no taste, completely left off the tomatoes, the drink was very small and over priced. We feel robbed!!!! The bill was split and it came to just under $50.oo for each person!! What a joke!! I want my money back!!“

“We came to try out the city sen restaurant. My husband had the mushroom goat cheeseburger. He said it was juicy and flavorful --no condiments necessary. I had the beef quesadillas. although this was on the shareable menu, it was quite large enough for me as a meal. The food was good, but it was the little amenities that made it very special --the unique silverware, carafe of ice water and pleasant ambient music in a modern setting made it a very special place for our date. It was fun to people watch through the open air windows. ( they fold close to keep in the AC if needed )Alex the manager shared with us some things we want to come back for, live music, etc. definitely planning to go back!
