“Made Friday night reservations 2 weeks ahead for a table (you can sit at the bar too with reservations). Free parking literally right in front was a huge win for a busy evening. We were on time and waited just a few minutes, which actually worked out because the open kitchen smells and those flames totally pulled us in. Super warm, cozy vibe and the space looks just as good inside as it does from the outside. Once we sat down in the cozy chair/table setup, we kicked things off with drinks and ordered apps and mains all at once. Everything came out fast and hot. The mussels, beef tartare, and tuna tartare were all flavorful, and just really well done. The only letdown was the Pollo that looked great but really needed more seasoning (& onions lol) to match the rest of the menu. Service was friendly & fantastic. Overall, it was an awesome family night out and a spot we’d happily come back to. 5/5.“

“This is a small, but cool vibe old-time neighborhood bar. Came here with a group to see the Brother Crowe band who are an amazing and gritty, bluegrass-leaning Celtic Roots powerhouse band. “I frequently visit bar rotunda on weekends for the sole purpose of seeing the jazz band. The band is amazing, and having live jazz music inside that upscale classy bar keeps me coming back. The atmosphere is high class and candle lit, and I've yet to find another place like it. I don't know the name of the band, but I know the bassist is named Trevor Lamb, and watching him pluck the stand up bass on a Friday or Saturday night while sipping on a cocktail is a quintessential weekend tradition for me. I cannot emphasize enough this band's talent and contribution to the atmosphere.

Unfortunately this review may not be able to stay so positive. I've caught wind that management wants to cut the jazz band down to just two days a month and install a DJ instead. I know for a fact that if there isn't live acoustic jazz to fit the atmosphere of bar Rotunda, I will not be seen there again on a date night and I will have to drop the rating of this review.“

They had a taco special tonight where you could get hard or soft shell tacos, or, to entice you more, they also did a loaded taco tots. It was a nice size order of tots, and they didn't skimp on the meat or the toppings. The nice price was only $6!!! I had a mixed drink and the taco tots and was very full! My total bill was $8.75. I haven't had a dinner and a drink for that price in a VERY LONG TIME! I recommend you join the Moose Club in whatever town you live in that has a local Moose. Not only for the great food that is priced right, but also for the many friends you will make when you visit any Moose Club that you find on vacation, or just passing through.“

“I recently visited the hand roll Japanese restaurant located in the newly renovated Book Tower in downtown Detroit.

The standout dish for me was the Sushi Dog—a fried sushi rice roll filled with crab meat. It was not only incredibly tasty but also impressively creative, offering a fun twist on traditional sushi. Another highlight was the sushi balls, which came as a set of four: salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and avocado. Each had its own unique flavor, beautifully presented and perfect for sharing.

The hand rolls were excellent—fresh, flavorful, and made right in front of us. I also enjoyed the Tamago Sando, a Japanese-style egg salad sandwich that was light yet rich in flavor, definitely a must-try.

The only disappointment food-wise was the Yaki Soba; the noodles were overcooked and lacked the depth of flavor found in the other dishes, making it my least favorite.

Unfortunately, the main issue came at the end: we were given a happy hour menu, but when the bill arrived, everything was charged at full price—double what we expected. That mix-up definitely left a sour note on an otherwise enjoyable evening.

Despite that, the quality and creativity of the food were strong enough that I’d still consider returning—just with a little more attention to the bill next time.“
