“Came here for lunch on the recommendation from my hotel’s bartender (shout out to Vitaly at The Marquette!). Arrived a little after 11am, it was very quiet/empty which was great. Received amazing service from Ashlee. Had a 801 Martini, Cajun Oysters and the blackened Mahi Mahi sandwich, and well were very delicious and are well recommended. My colleague had the Lobster roll and it looked amazing!! Looking forward to coming back!
I had dinner at Manny’s Steakhouse, which was very nice, great staff and environment. But 801 fish also has a steakhouse restaurant nearby, which I am looking forward to trying next time.“

“Wonderfully clean.
Smells like the food that's represented & tastes very much like my mom's home cooking...can't complain.
staff was friendly & families were scattered, ? enjoying their food while dining in...
Kid-friendliness: very....
Wheelchair accessibility: no ?, ok with cane or walker, doors wide enough, but do not auto open...“

“Often, lovely food cooked simply can be the best. That was my experience at Chilango. Fish tacos with a side of charred peppers and onions plus a side of red rice. Staff are trying really hard. Give ‘em a chance.
They have a great mezcal selection too!“
“We stopped here on December 24th looking for fresh lutefisk and were pleased to find we could buy a 5lb filet. The lutefisk was amazing I was told and in the future we will be sure to call ahead and place the order. The manager was running back and forth with several options before we decided to just buy the 5lb filet. I can say I was amazed, they cooked it in the oven and when I returned that evening I could hardly smell anything other than the usual air fresheners we have in the house.
So thanks again for helping keep a Christmas tradition alive and hope the girls hockey team does great.“

“My husband had gotten off work and it was almost closing. I hate doing that but I was starving. We got food that was awesome and the gentleman taking our order was very awesome and helpful and the place was very clean and very comfortable! Best wings and cat fish I've had for a long time! Great job guys! Thanks so much!!“

“Outstanding food and service! It's the best place to go for Jambalaya and Lobster Rolls! Prices are a little higher, but moderate as far as North Loop restaurants go. Great outdoor seating and a perfect place to hook up with friends for the lobster / guacamole with chips!“

“We stumbled upon "Barwaqo" as it's now called when we were headed to the Electric Fetus for a book signing event; apparently this place changed hands about a month ago (Oct 2023) so previous reviews under the old Cala name are not relevant. We felt very welcomed by the owner and staff, and had an amazing dinner of Somali chicken and rice, sambusa, and the spinach dish which game with roasted goat and a fava bean soup with glutinous rice cakes. Everything was fresh and delicious and obviously made with a lot of care, and all of the food we got only came to about $45. We were thrilled to have randomly taken a chance on an unknown place and we will go back in the future. When we talked to the owner outside afterwards, I asked one of the staff what "barwaqo" means in Somali and he said "gift" but when I looked it up, it means "prosperity." Take a chance on this place at the corner of Clinton/Franklin instead of the Wendy's across the street!“

“Staff were kind and generous when I showed up about 30 minutes before the lunch buffet closed down at 2:00 pm on a Sunday. I suggest getting there around 1:00 pm or earlier for a better selection. Nevertheless, the food was tasty, the staff was very nice, and I don't really care about atmosphere, so the lack of music and strip-mall vibes didn't affect my rating. I'll have to go back to make sure it's consistent, but when I ate there (my first time visiting), they had perhaps the best teriyaki chicken I've had at any buffet that's still operational in the greater twin cities area, and I've been to almost all of them. Most of the food was average to slightly above average, but some of it was surprisingly very good, and I got the impression someone in the kitchen really cared about the food they were putting out. I will definitely be back, and I would definitely recommend it. Plus, lunch buffet price of about ten dollars beats everywhere else I know of in the twin cities by about thirty or forty percent, so the value is kind of unbeatable if you're as into cheap, tasty, strip-mall Chinese buffets as I am. Definitely worth a try. ✨?✨“
