“Who would have thought that Winona was a foodie city? We recently had a chance for a short trip to Winona from the Twin Cities and were thrilled to discover some great eateries in Winona. Leading the list for us was Nosh. Nosh is definitely a restaurant that reaches the highest of gastronomic delight. We had limited time for our visit but sought to maximize our ability to sample some of the dishes at Nosh prior to a concert we were attending that evening. We began our dining adventure with Creole shrimp cocktail. It was served with a Chipotle lime cocktail sauce. It was a delightful combination that definitely satisfied our palette. Next up were bowls of cream of butternut squash and apple soup served with wild rice, couscous, chili oil and chives. It was a great melding of flavors that we really enjoyed in such an interesting combination. We then moved on to roasted exotic mushrooms that consisted of roasted oyster, shitake, and cremini mushrooms in a cherry cream sauce served with grilled bread. It was another treat that we greatly enjoyed. Running out of time for our visit, we had to skip out on the main course and moved on to dessert. We had a couple of different desserts that were unique, beautifully presented and tasty. Our table service was exemplary as our server would magically appear whenever needed and was extremely helpful in making choices of things for us to try with limited time. It was a fantastic dining experience and we look forward to making a return visit especially considering the menu changes frequently offering exciting new options to taste.“
“Honestly one of the best non-planned places we ever ate! We were driving around on a road trip since we came in for a short training at Ft. McCoy. We got hungry and googled a place to eat which led us to The Shed. Awesome cheese curds, pulled pork and baked beans. Locals talked to us at the bar and the bartender/owner was very attentive.“
“First time I have eaten here, and OH MY GOODNESS. I am not sure I will ever go to another restaurant in town for Mexican food.Chips & Salsa: Absolutely magnificent. It’s got a kick, which I love!Meal: I was there for lunch, I got the seafood enchiladas & they were top notch!! I’ve never had crab/shrimp enchiladas before, and I HATE green enchilada sauce but they use their own white sauce.. HELLO TASTE BUD HEAVEN. How did they create this magical sauce?!My boyfriend recently came here for work before I ate here with him, he is the one who recommended we eat here. He got the same dish he did the first time because he enjoyed it so much: Grilled Chimichanga. He was impressed that it was REAL steak strips & not just grounded up meat. We both agree this is our Go-To place anytime we want Mexican food!!I WILL SAY THOUGH: Seafood enchiladas reheated is 100% not the same as getting it in the restaurant Fresh. Which is no fault to the restaurant at all - just a disclaimer.10/10 would come back. New favorite Mexican restaurant!!!“
“What a great neighborhood bar! Drinks are cheap and the patrons are friendly. Ordered pizza from a pizza place and they delivered it right to the bar. The bartender supplied us with paper plates and napkins! I would think about moving to Winona for this bar and the donuts“
“Absolutely excellent. If I lived any closer you might just catch me on "My 600 Pound Life" in a few months. That chili cheese dog just makes you feel like a kid again, like you can really fully appreciate and enjoy something again. The root beer and the ice cream? Oh baby! Oh baby baby baby! If you do one nice thing for yourself get yourself a root beer float! Gahl dern it! Just let yourself enjoy something! Please!“
“Wow the owner Andrie is so kind. The staff is so friendly and accomodating to small or large groups of dinners. The Black Horse offers a salad bar every night of the week. The shrimp and fish are my favorites, the portion size is very good. This is a hidden gem. Great gathering place, great event space, you can enjoy the food at the bar or in the restaurant area. If you bring kids you can sit in the restaurant area and not feel as if you are in a bar.“
“A great local spot offering low cost foods and beer. You get burgers ordered just like you want, even rare. I love the California burger. An order of French fries are enough for 2 people so be advised. Owner has been running this place for more than two decades. Wednesdays are Taco night and Fridays are fish night.Note that cash is only accepted.“
“We stopped in here on a whim and are happy we did. Friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Staff was nice and place is clean. Our group had 929 burger, chicken sandwich, Buffalo Chicken wrap and cheese curds. We liked cottage cheese as a side option and the fries were yummy. Recommend this place when in town.Kid-friendliness: They have a child menu“
“I cannot express enough gratitude for how my complaint was handled today. ? thank you to the Manager and the staff with her who handled me when I was so frustrated, sore, and anxious for an upcoming surgical procedure this week and had to come into the store more than once to dissolve the situation.“
“They have a huge variety of breakfast options. Staff is always friendly. Some menu items are pricey but you won't find another restaurant like this one in Winona. It's a step up from Perkins if your looking for a home cooked meal in a family environment.“
“We were able to squeeze in a visit to Signatures while on a recent trip in Winona. Many people we talked with spoke very highly of Signatures dinner menu. We were short on time so we ended up eating there over the lunch hour with the lunch menu. One of the great things about Signatures is the wonderful view especially with our seats situated next to the window. The view was very enjoyable even being a winter day seeing out over the golf course and the beautiful bluffs of the area.We did a quick sample tasting of the menu including fried pickles, the soup of the day, siracha chicken sandwich and pot pie. Of those choices, we thought the pot pie was the best of our choices with great flavor and a very nice crust.Overall, the food was good to very good for this visit and we look forward to going back to test out the dinner menu that so many people rave about.“
“Heirloom is Winonas best 'not so hidden' gem. Any bad reviews of this incredible place are absurd. It is my husband and I's "go-to" lunch spot and we will never get enough of this amazing food! He is a tough food critic and we have yet to find anything on the menu we dont like. We often talk about their unique offerings to friends and family and will always recommend. Support a local business, family AND get incredible food. Win.Win.Win.Thanks for sharing your talent with us Heirloom!“
