“Our family came to Howies after my daughter raved about this place. We brought my brother and his daughter with. We got to sit up top so our waitress had to carry our drinks and food to up to us. If you haven’t met waitress Jessica W yet you must! She was a rock star! She kept our drinks full and got our food to us in a timely manner. She was so friendly and we all loved her. The food was dynamite! We loved the appetizers and our main meal. We will for sure be back and will be asking for Jessica again!“

“Just left there with friends from Iowa. outstanding food, great service as always. I even messed up my own order and our server whipped it right back to the kitchen and brought me what I actually wanted to order!!! It was my fault entirely. everything was delicious. I especially recommend the Creole Corn chowder and Armadillo eggs (not andouille eggs LOL) Thank you Karen for being a great server. I wished I would have tipped more. you went above and beyond for us!“

“Stayed here for work Sept , Oct and it is just great. The staff is very nice! There is a small pool and a hot-tub glass windows to see the river. Its nice place to sit when its cold. The Bar looks out on the river. Breakfast lunch and dinner with lounge and tv's in the booths. The patio outside is great they have a fire pit and allow smoking. Its a short walk to everything and a short drive to anything. Parking can be a problem in La Crosse its best to walk, ride bike etc. The rooms are nice the location is perfect.“

We love the best homemade soups in the La Crosse area, the familiar friendly faces that work and patron there, and old school atmosphere! “We love Diggers. Best in La Crosse. But a recent trip let us down. The classic bread crack to locals was gone. Fayzes provided it and they closed. Today People’s Food Coop brought Fayzes bakery back. Hoping the wonderful bread is restored!“

“We went there last night for dinner. Natelie was out waitress, and outstanding doesn't even come close to her service. She went above and beyond, she made the whole experience wonderful. “Very relaxing, everyone so friendly and food was fabulous! We stayed at The Radisson to see the Rotary Lights. After, we went back, freshened up and went downstairs for dinner, very convenient. We asked to be by the windows with a view the lights while we ate but no seats were available and our table was set at a different location, waiting for us to finish our drinks. The gentleman that seated us, moved our table to a window seat that had just opened up without even asking before we went in. We were very impressed that he did this and it made our meal that much more enjoyable. The food was fantastic and would highly recommend. This is our 4th year going there for the lights and we would do it any other way! Enjoy!!!“

“It’s always refreshing to find a restaurant that does everything right. This is such a place. The food’s great, the portions are generous, the servers are quick and friendly, the prices are reasonable and the place is clean. We went there for breakfast today. We were visiting the area for the weekend from the twin cities. Although we have been to La Crosse several times, this is the first visit to this restaurant and we will definitely be back. They even squeeze their own orange juice! I think this is one of those places where there is probably nothing on the menu that you could order and wouldn’t like. They aren’t a chain so, I suspect they have built a strong business due to word of mouth advertising and I can certainly see why. If I lived in the area, I would go here often.“

I have a family member who is at Mayo a lot and often stops there for lunch. He loves it and said that its impossible to be in a bad mood there because the staff are so friendly.
