Main Street Coffee, located right off the Square in Independence, is everything a true coffee shop should be — no gimmicks, no distractions, just great coffee and a welcoming space to relax, create, or connect. This spot has quickly become one of my favorite places to settle in and get some writing or work done. Their big, comfy booths are perfect for spreading out with a laptop, notebook, or a good book. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between cozy and productive — soft lighting, warm tones, and just enough background buzz to feel inspired. Now let’s talk about the coffee — it’s genuinely some of the best in the entire metro area. Rich, smooth, and expertly crafted, every cup feels like it’s made with real care. Whether you’re a fan of a bold espresso or a perfectly balanced latte, they never miss. One of the things I love most is their seasonal menu. It’s always creative, always delicious, and it keeps things exciting every time I visit. You can tell the team behind the bar is passionate about what they do — from the quality of the beans to the flavors they bring to life. Main Street Coffee is more than just a coffee shop — it’s a local treasure. If you’re anywhere near Independence, do yourself a favor and stop by. “I love Stacey! She was the most helpful barista I have ever came into contact with. I had a free drink and with that you can spend up to ten dollars. I ordered something that cost about $6. She asked me if I wanted to add anything extra like an extra shot, or caramel drizzle, then she asked me if I wanted to go up a size or two. She was the best. She was trying to hook me up and gave so many different recommendations to both me and my boyfriend. Love her. I’ve never had an experience like that before!“

“Ariel was so friendly and personable. 5 stars.In a world where it seems like employees at chains could care less, Ariel greeted me with a smile and asked how my holiday was. Later, as I worked from a table, I saw some kids come in, acting a little obnoxious and asking for water (without buying anything). She was so patient, and treated them with kindness, not lecturing them about having to buy something to get a cup of water, but treated them like 10 or 12 year olds who were just out having fun and not really understanding how business works.Good on Ariel and good on this Starbucks for hiring her. The world needs more people like this, and corporate chains need to do whatever it takes to single out these type of people and make sure they have jobs (and make sure they are promoted).Great experience, and brightened my day!“

“The cafe caters to tabletop gamers, but welcomes all. It’s the kind of place that you come for community and activities like karaoke, trivia, chess with strangers, and old fashioned board games. (It’s a small business, so please at least buy a beverage 😬). The staff are wonderful and accommodating. The menu is standard pub fare, but the food and drinks are consistently good. My favorite is the chai latte; spicy and perfect! There’s always a customer here playing one game or another, so come on out and there’s a good chance you’ll be invited to join in.“
