“This place has a family-run feel that's so fun. Sometimes they just send you back to the kitchen and show you everything that's cooking, and you order right there. They don't have margaritas, but they have something better. Try the Paloma.“

“This place is a diamond in the financial district! My friends and I stopped here during our lunch break because we were craving tex mex I looked the place up and felt hopeful but once we got the food we were blown away! Ernesto and veronica (i hope i got their names right) were the most welcoming and the food was fresh, filling, and tasted amazing. It felt like a mom and pop restaurant and the chocolate chip toffee cookie was heavenly. Sadly we were in KC for only a week or id go there every day during lunch! Get a bowl and cherry coke and say hi to the owners for Nico, Justin and I“

“This place has great food for a great price. The employees work hard to get the food out fast and keep a clean dining room. While I was sitting and waiting for a to-go order, I saw an employee (not sure if owner or manager or other but that is beside the point) just walk a bag of food out for a customer while she was carrying her baby and struggling to hold both. Can’t say enough good things about this place. Love it“

“Came here for a quick bite before a Kansas City game. A family run restaurant with fresh ingredients and friendly service. They have a variety of food options including sandwiches, bbq and tacos. We tried their pork tacos and the pork was full of flavour and spiced deliciously. You can also tell all the ingredients are fresh. A great place to try if you’re in the area or heading to the stadium as it’s not too far from it.“

“Awesome neighboorhood casual mexican eatery that is family owned and operated. Loved the fresh cooked chips and the fresh salsa is outstanding. Try the pickle salsa on the beef tacos, sounds different but was fantastic. Will be coming back!“

“This weekend my boyfriend and I were wanting some Birria tacos. We found GG's Barbacoa Cafe on Yelp. I'm so glad we decided to stop in. The service was great. We were promptly helped and was offered assistance. We got a plate of 4 Birria tacos. We also got the Horchata and both were so delicious. We would definitely come back.“

“Wow, what a gem! And you can tell everything is thoughtfully made with care. I had a taco, Gordita, and Sope with various meat choices. All flavorful and fresh and great with the house-made salsas, too! The elotes were also fantastic, lime-y and tangy with a hit of tajin. Add this spot to your list!“

“Delicious wood grilled chicken in half or whole. It comes with beans, rice, pickled onions and a salsa purée. It smelled absolutely delicious when you go inside, and the food was even better. The place doesn’t look like anything special, but the food and service are top tier. The lady working the counter was kind and on her game. This is a must visit location in KC and now one of our favorites.“

“I really enjoyed my order because the Birria, shredded pork, and flour tamales were absolutely delicious and made my mouth water. Despite being busy, the service was good and the staff were still very nice and sweet. Also, the place was clean and had lovely colors.“

“I come here every week on Tuesday. I love it here. My friends and I gather and eat delicious food together and have a wonderful time. There is a bar for drinks although a bit on the pricier on shots compared to other places.Chorizo is my favorite with Quesabirria coming close in second. All the meats are so flavorful and so satisfying. The chips and queso are probably my favorite of all near by mexican joints.I also should mention their serve yourself bar with onions, cilantro, many other veggies, pineapple, and various sauces to fit all spice level eaters. The service is always so nice, when we come consistently they even remember our orders and its super sweet and makes us feel special.I will be back and I will continue to invite more people to come every week!!*They have a secret taco tuesday that we have been asked if we are apart of although there is never any extra information on how to join this group.“

The food is truly authentic Mexican and delicious!! Everything is fresh and tastes it!The atmosphere is bright and cheery with Mexican music playing overhead. The staff is quite friendly and helpful which tops it all off!!Parking: It is in a strip mall so parking is what you would expect for that.“

“Went here on a weeknight last month and it seemed very low key even though they have a full bar and plenty of seating. I wasn’t paying attention to prices but we got a variety of 8 tacos plus salsa, grilled peppers and onions for about $20. Would definitely come back again.“

“This place is a North Kansas City icon!!! If you don't get the meat and cheese tacos, you're totally missing out on what's made them a famous taco staple and establishment. I think it's the unorthodox way in which they make them, with the meat filling and yellow powdered cheese, they can not be rivaled anywhere!!! Love, love the corn nuggets, deep-fried cauliflower, fried mushrooms, and amazing taco burgers. A must try, seriously! Drive to North Oak tfwy and get you some!!!“

“The food was amazing, they cut the meat to pretty fine pieces, so it's very easy to eat as far as street tacos go.The service was great, very kind staff, you may need to know some Spanish to get by here. The payment is CASH ONLY. Don't forget to bring cash with you.The space looks like they've done well with a low budget. It could be better, but for what it is they've done their best.“

“To start, first time visiting and the server was excellent and very helpful. I got a chilidog and glad I did not go with the footlong as the chili dog was a lot. Loaded with chili, cheese, and onions. Wife got a tamale and same... she could not finish it all. Nice place and we have been in the area before, but always say we will be back and will eat there then. I'm glad this was the time. Great food, nice atmosphere, and again...great service. Will be back.“

“This place was SO good!! Can’t believe it’s been under my most for 3 years and I never noticed it! Food was delicious, especially for the prices!! It made my husband and I remember why we like to eat out! Service was good, it was busy but I feel like we got our food in good time. Someone even came and did a fun cup trick for our toddler! Servers/workers were very nice. Wish I had taken a picture! Definitely come and eat here!“

“The food was good, but rice and beans with two burritos were extra. This is not typical of most Mexican restaurants. There was no compromise. That's not what I expected. Perhaps it was in a mostly white neighborhood. Make extra money.“

“My favorite Mexican food in KC, period. More "street style" than traditional restaurant style, and the food is just amazing. I've known the owner, Don Memo (Guillermo) for years, as he used to run the taco truck in front of Olivares Auto Garage, at Independence Ave/Denver on the Missouri side. His tacos were fantastic then, and are just next-level awesome now that he has an actual kitchen to work with. If you're looking to just sit down and enjoy some wonderful authentic Mexican food (antojitos) without the expense of a large restaurant, and without having to sit outside like at a taco truck, this is the place to go.“

“This was my first time here. I got there just as they opened, the floor was still damp, as I walked in the host warned. The oysters in chili butter were absolutely fantastic. You'll want to drink the butter right out of the shell. They bring crackers and two types of hot sauce. They were not needed, but they too were flavorful. I would have liked a little crusty bread with them to soak up the butter. I ordered the Steak and Shrimp. The steak was cooked exactly right, medium rare. The shrimp came in the chipotle jalapeno sauce, flavorful without being spicy. They cook real rice, not the minute rice you find in other places. It is a very casual place, a few booths and and tables. It reminds me of a mom and pop place in a rural area. You wouldn't expect this high of caliber of food when you walk in. Even though it's a little of a drive to get there, I will be back“

This restaurant is always busy! So go early or be prepared to stand and wait for a table!Parking is in the back of the restaurant and on the street in front but Broadway is busy so best to park in the back.I like ordering al-la-carte because the portions are large! “Where do I begin. I’ll start with the staff. The young lady that was our waitress was so sweet and kind. The food is top notch. I had the shrimp mofongo and it was outstanding! The fried and mashed plantains with the chicharrones which gave it such a nice crunch to the dish. The atmosphere was such a good vibe.“

“Best tacos al pastor in the midwest. This is not an exaggeration. I've had pastor tacos all over the city and all over the country. These are the best (Sergio's of Osage Beach is a close second). The other food is excellent as well! The restaurant is first come first serve and seat yourself. Staff is very friendly. Parking is available on the street out front, but expect to find relatively abundant parking on Minnesota Avenue to the northwest of the restaurant. Don't pass up this spot!Kid-friendliness: Kids food can be made to order for picky eaters.“

“Delicious as always. I picked up some lunch here. This might be my new favorite place. I was able to call and place my order over the phone. About 15 minutes later, I headed down to pay and pick it up. I was on my way in no time. They do have a dining area, but it is pretty small.“

“This place is unapologetically greasy, cheesy, and down right good. I understand why it has been around for so long. I loved my tacos and burger pocket. “I have a sentimental connection with this location-- my father was an acquaintance to the owners and he would bring hotel guests when they asked for authentic Mexican tacos. I also got to experience the flavor and great service prior to his passing. On another note, there are indoor and outside seating choices. There are plenty of other authentic items to purchase and different food items; we always opt for carne asada & al pastor tacos with cheesy fries (queso is thick & tasty). Salsa bar offers great spicy and non-spicy salsas. I like the mural and open space update. RR does need a little attention.“

“Fire. Come on now everyone knows about torito. If you ain't going in there trying to get some Carne asada waiting 30 min for your number to be called while standing next to some random person. Your missing out. They need to make that place bigger.“

“This place has it all: a bustling grocery store, freshly made tortillas, a meat market, and excellent food for takeout or counter service with ample indoor seating. I had pork tamales, a taco al pastor, and a chile relleno taco (the first time I’ve had that, although I’ve always loved chile relleno on their own). All was really good: the chile relleno taco was my favorite, the al pastor was missing pineapple (bummer), and the pork tamales were yummy but maybe just a bit on the dry side. The salsa bar had several spicy options and I washed everything down with horchata. Great spot with a busy lunchtime crowd and lots of free parking.“

“These tacos quickly became my favorite. Everything we have tried so far has been really good. The service is always friendly and quick.we usually get the steak street tacos. But the quesadillas are SO GOOD. The quesadillas are good sized and my husband and I usually split one. It has become out of to taco place.“

“Very good although I'm pretty sure they gave me gross lenguas because the first time I ordered it it was not meaty and chopped small and gelatinous and the next time it was just slices of very soft meat. Id rather get a little of both rather than have to gamble with a 100% gross meat taco.“

“Ambiance: 1Service: 3Food: 4Star rating based on the food. This is solid Jalisco style Mexican food. The area of town is a little rough, but if you eat authentic Mexican in KC, that shouldn't bother you. It is located next to Teri's Jigger. It looks like it is in the same building, but there are separate doors (two entrances ) and a different address. There is street parking at the side and a parking lot around back with a rear entrance. The ambiance could definitely use some help. Just getting rid of random stuff stored in the dining room and doing something to decorate the walls would help a lot. There is a tv playing music. Service was friendly, but distant. Once they bring the food they basically leave you alone. I was given a basket of chips (just okay) and salsa (good with a little heat) and brought a plastic bottle of American coke. There are both cans and bottles available. I was disappointed that it wasn't Mexican Coke. About 10 minutes later a Hispanic customer got a Mexican Coke, so I exchanged my unopened soda for the good kind. So, be specific when you order or they may assume you want the American version. I ordered three Quesabirria tacos. Unlike most restaurants, here they let you order as many or as few Quesabirria as you want. They are $4 each and very filling. Two would have been plenty for me. The consommé was less flavorful than a couple of other places in KC, but the tacos themselves were very good. Near the top of the Quesabirria that I've tried. They are served with the standard onion and cilantro and also pickled onion which really elevated the dish. The pickle cuts through all that fat and grease with a little acid and it's really nice.I'm looking forward to coming back because I really want to try their Jalisco specialties. Specifically the Torta Ahogada (drowned sandwich) and the Jericalla (burnt custard). I paid with Apple Pay, but there wasn't a way to leave a tip with credit card, so bring cash. There is also a tip jar for the cooks. They don't have a website, but their Facebook page is active and they are also on DoorDash. No alcoholic beverages. If you're feeling adventurous, give them a try!“
“I have been getting taco shells from Arts for at least 25 years. I get the restaurant size (50 doz). They are the best money can buy. We have regular taco fry’s with church and family friends. There is an on going contest to see who eats the most. So far my grandson holds the record of 19.“

“My boyfriend and I LOVE micheladas, it is our thing. So we set out to find the best ones in town. I had seen people I know post about it so we decided to try it out. and oh my gosh. these are the BEST in town. They are very authentic. You can get them to go which is cool and also they come in a big cup with chamoy on the side. They put the right amount of beer and other ingredients, they just do it right every time. My bf and I always get regular michelada with the dried meat on it and it tastes really good. The workers are always super nice to attend to us and make our drinks very fast. There is always people when we go in just chilling with their friends and it is a chill place to just have a drink. They also serve fruit with tajin and other things that are fruit with lime and tajin/ spicy. for sure recommend for an authentic michelada!“

“I've eaten here before, but it continues to be one wonderful tasting meal you should treat yourself to. The service is always quick and friendly. As the owner will tell you "giving the people what they want is what keeps a line forming at his window." I think the smells of the meat smoking over open pit wood fire is what makes me stop in whenever I pass by.“
“The ice cream is amazing and we weren't expecting much quality from the food as it's an ice cream place but the tacos were better than even some taco places nearby. Only thing is the meat was in bigger pieces than I would like but overall they were amazing! The salsas are also spicy and very flavorful. The staff is also very friendly!“

“The food was good. Not the best I've had, but certainly not the worst. I'm from California so I guess I'm a little picky when it comes to my tacos. I will say that out of the dozens of authentic Mexican food restaurants I've been to, this is the place I keep going back to. There are several places that are close, but I like the food better at Taqueria Mexico Lindo“
