“This is such an adorable cafe! You definitely get more of a small town cafe vibe but absolutely love it! The staff was friendly all around. From the hostess to our wonderful waitress!! There is both Cholula (very important) and Tabasco at the tables. The prices are pretty fair. I do think the main dishes are a bit pricey but sides are pretty good! We got 4 pieces of bacon for $3.29 and they weren't those thin cheap pieces.“

“I come here frequently after getting groceries, one lady remembers me now and knows exactly what I order. I tried something new and it was delicious, I went to reorder it today and I accidentally ordered a tea instead of a latte. I did not like the tea and they made me a new drink even though it was my fault. I love this little shop! The Brown Sugar Boba Latte is my favorite. It is a small shop in downtown, so there arent a lot of places to park, which is to be expected. Good thing I walk everywhere. :)“

“Cinnamon buns, guacamole toast, biscuits and gravy, breakfast burrito were all excellent. Their iced house coffee is good as well. Knocked off a star due to limited seating and when we ordered our coffee no one told us to wait at a counter (they deliver the rest of your food), so we ended up not getting that until we finally asked. When we did ask the server she just said oh they call your name (music plays loudly inside so no way you can hear unless you're right there) and leave it at the bar for you, and then she walked off.“

“We wanted to visit a local coffee shop for breakfast while we were on vacation so we found The Windmill KC and I’m so glad we did! Not only was it adorable with great breakfast and coffee but the atmosphere was incredible. The staff and locals made us feel like family while letting my 2 little girls play games and puzzles with them. I will definitely be recommending and we will definitely be back!“

Their menu is so different than anything around here and sitting in the dining room feels like sitting in a French restaurant.They have a rotating chef's special, a great deal on their steak frites on Tuesdays, delicious French desserts (home made profiteroles, say WHAT?! yum. And don't even get me started on their mille feuille when that is around... absolutely fabulous).The wine selection is great, they have a non alc option that seemed interesting but I decided to go with their non alc cocktail which was delicious. Cocktail menu is solid, and they even carry my favorite beer, Duvel which is such a European staple and not always easy to find in the city.“

Not mad as we had dessert elsewhere but coming from an industry employee the last course in service should also be the last station to close in the kitchen. The homemade chips with their house made ranch with a pinch of dill was 10/10. The cafe (next to Golden Ox) is in a 100 year old historic stockyard business building. Still has the original tile, stairway and office spaces. The cafe is relaxed, has a local feel and a historic ambiance. Steak soup was good but burger is a waaay better choice. “I go hear every once a month to for grocery and on occasion, eat at their cafe. I just love shopping here, always finding great deals on not only food but clothes for myself and family. I rated 4 stars because the quality in the food at the cafe is bad now. In my opinion. It just doesn't taste like it used to. Used to love grabbing a box of pizza for my family to take home. Not only was it big but it was affordable also. Still love grocery shopping here though. It saves our family money and gives us a bang for our buck.“
