“Going on 4 years and this place just gets better and better! While you can always find entertainment here the service stays on point! Very attentive. The outside patio is beautiful and gives some space while you eat. We love the lamb and wygau beef burgers. My kids eat the pizza and wings while I enjoy their yummy cocktails! From burgers to nachos and eveything in between you'll feel like you ate anywhere but a bar. Just make sure to get a side of ranch for yourself! Gaels is constantly helping organizations in the community with fundraising and support! A true beacon in kc!“

“A fellow reviewer put this on my timeline as a must try. This place is a gem. We went on a Saturday night and they had live music and it was super good. So they are known for their tenderloin and it didn't disappoint at all. The size you see in the pictures is not an exaggeration. It truly is as big as it looks. It was tender and really good. Even my kids loved the food. I know it was just breaded chicken tenders but they were hot, not hard and super tender. Sam our server was super nice. My wife got the BLT and we did friend mushrooms and pickles for the fresh, hot and amazing. We will be back for sure!“

“The service was amazing. They made a special mocktail for me. As I don't drink. I know. Why go to a bar? Well it was for a work thing. The food and appetizers are amazing. I love their pizza. They put this garlic butter on it. Unlike anything that I've tasted. Ordered all the appetizers. They were good. No pictures taken as they were being passed around our group of 15 fast. Service was fast. I did take the sweet and spicy to go. So delicious. What I like about Southside is that it's very multicultural. So I saw many groups from all types of ethnicities and cultural backgrounds there. People in suits. People in casual wear. People with babies. Its just warm And welcoming. Something you don't feel these days.“

“I work and shop at the location on 4545 S. Noland Rd. in Independence, but this location ties with my work spot as my favorite store to shop at. Love the people I see here regularly, particularly Amanda, Courtney and... I think two other people I know back in the deli are named Crystal and Olivia? These deli clerks always seem glad/excited to see me, love to chat and they've even memorized not only what I typically buy whenever I come back there, but also how I like my deli meat cut! The cashiers whose lines my mom and I go through whenever we are there have been awesome as well. Grate service, communication and conversation with these people!“

“The food was great but I wouldn’t come here on an evening of you want good service. My husband and I did a tasting tour near by and wanted something to eat before we headed back to the Air BnB. Immediately you could tell how the experience was going to be when we didn’t order drinks right away and didn’t see our server again for about 15 minutes. She was very obviously more interested in paying more attention to customers that ordered drinks right away. She didn’t give her name otherwise I would I mention here. We only got one water and she didn’t come back to us again. We went to go to the hostess to try to pay our bill, ended up stopping her as she was leaving the bar. I give 2 stars out of 5. That’s only because the food was really good. I don’t think I would come back here. Maybe during the day would be better but I don’t know if I’d come here again anyway.“

“Literally perfect dive bar. It's dark, unpretentious, and lives up to its name. The Uber wings keep me coming back. Super spicy with a ghost and reaper pepper sauce, but loaded with flavor. Heat varies in intensity from week to week which impressed me by the fact that they make their own sauce.

Great variety of beers on tap, always something new to try. Friendly staff and the kitchen is always open later than any other place normally would. If you want real dive bar charm with awesome wings/beer this is the spot.“

“HyVee catered my daughter’s wedding this last weekend and the food was phenomenal! The smoked chicken, brisket and all the sides were the best I think I’ve ever had. They also made their wedding cake and cupcakes for guests. So beautiful! They set up, bussed tables, took everything down and packed up leftovers for us. We couldn’t have asked for anything better. “Had some downtime while my vehicle had tire work done next door, so I stopped into Hy-Vee Market Grille for lunch. I was one of 3 people in the restaurant but the waitress was very attentive and took good care to make sure I enjoyed my visit. The burger I ordered was truly delicious - very well-cooked, fresh and juicy. I had ordered tots with it, but she returned to tell me they were out of Tots per the chef - no problem, fries were fine. A few minutes after my burger came, the chef came out with hot tots telling me she had found some.Delightful experience made possible by staff who very obviously take pride in their job. I'll be back!“

“I was hired last weekend to Face Paint for Alex's Lemonade Stand Charity. I set my Paints and equipment up in the front of the store .the staff and employees I met were so accomodating and friendly. One of the managers helped us put up an awning. an associate gave me clear directions to the bathroom. I was graciously given a free meal voucher by Kristen Rylie and Manager Disha from the Independence Mo. Hyvee. Also the folks at Starbucks were friendly and helpful as well as the cafeteria staff. All this to say I came away thinking I might like to work there because of all the positive and helpful employees who do work there. they work to please! thank You Independence Mo. HyVee“

“It was Friday in early November, just days after Halloween. I came from out of town to a job interview, at Country Club Plaza. I was trying to find a place before going to the Power & Light District later that night & after my interview. I was going to go somewhere else, but they had 30 min wait. So I'm not from here, don't know KC well (unless I have my GPS), and new to the bar scene in the metro area. Suddenly, a place called "The Bar" came to my Google Search. I almost didn't want to come here. I'm thinking to myself "just go, you don't come to KC often"...& I did. The Bar West Plaza was actually better than I thought it was going to be. I also didn't know they had multiple places until I realized that before Thanksgiving. Not to mention, they have karaoke??? YES! I couldn't do karaoke hence going to the P&L District & due to time, I wouldn't have made it back in time...sadly. In the end, I had two bartenders (Katie & Adrianna) who were by far stellar at their job (from start to finish). I was very impressed. A local patron told me to try their wings, you will regret it if you don't. That man wasn't joking. Holy...😇 I give this place 4 out 5 stars. The ONLY reason why I didn't give it 5 out of 5 is because of the lack of parking. The rest is by far awesome.“

“Had the cheese fries and they were awesome! Cheese sauce was flavorful (not the same old cheese sauce that others use). The fries stayed crunchy even with the sauce over them. Also had a bacon/cheeseburger that was very flavorful. And of course the giant hot wings. Their homemade blue cheese dipping sauce was very good, not overpowering. Great service even though it got crowded. I Highly recommend!“

“Charlie Hoopers never disappoints! While half of our party was there for one of their famous custom hot dogs, almost everyone ended up choosing a custom burger or chicken sandwich. I chose the Hickory Chicken and coupled it with a side of sweet potato tots which I highly recommend. Our group shared a large Bavarian pretzel which comes with stone ground mustard and a queso cheese sauce that was excellent. Don't overlook Charlie Hoopers as just some sports bar with bar food or you will miss out on some delectable food choices.“
